  1. Near to Nana Plaza, all the well known hotels charge from 1500 baht up per night....Majestic Suites, Dynasty Inn, etc. Even the shitty Nana Hotel charges 1490 baht minimum. Considering that I pay 600 - 800 baht on accommodation when I am in Pattaya then I am losing the best part of 1000 baht a night when staying in Bangkok instead of Pattaya. This IBIS at 1000 baht could a welcome cheap alternative. IBIS hotels in Europe tend to always have a minimum standard of design. They are basic but clean. I am tired of wasting my money on accommodation given that I come to Thailand to spend
  2. Judging by the large number of empty seats that were there on my visits to Mistys, the management may need to get acquainted with where their local one is fairly soon...
  3. You may want to take this opportunity to remind everyone where this bar is....lots of people appear to have forgotten...
  4. Paps, I also found the place to be almost completely deserted on my last 2 visits (around 11pm and 1am) a few weeks ago. PSP and LDK keep saying that the place is constantly busy...I was beginning to think I was imagining things. Appears nothing much seems to have changed since these photos were taken a year or so ago, in terms of visitors...or maybe I went to the wrong place and they are still re-building it
  5. Could you fill one out for me as well Rick whilst you are at it?...I hate paper work!
  6. PSP is presenting this VIP card kaboodle as though it was the deal of the century... almost equivalent to the second coming. Full marks to Cheshire Tom for pointing out that other bars are providing far, far better deals
  7. Whaaaaaat?...you have got to be stiffing me! For most bars that I drink in 90 baht for a bottle of beer is the non-happy hour price - that is all night long - and you expect me to rush down to Misty's by 10pm to pay 90 baht in their happy hour??? Sorry... back of the class for you.
  8. ...well you didn't make me feel that welcome on my last two visits! Being pestered by unattractive ladies for over priced lady drinks in an empty bar is not anyone's idea of fun. I hope you will treat me better once I have become a VIP member
  9. Need to complete an application form...fuck off! Only a 10% discount anyway after all that Have to carry some silly card around with you each night. to that! Fantastic – great price reductions across the board for everyone Whooooooeeee! That's more like it!
  10. Hey Cheshire, Catz it is then! Thank you for at last pointing us in the direction of a genuinely good deal. Now if we could only get other bar managers to take notice....
  11. ...I would say also check that the check in staff have sealed the tag properly i.e. that the tag tape has been sealed together over several centimetres of it's length at least. Sometimes in their haste the staff only seal it together over a centimetre or so. This means that the tag could easily fall off when the bag is being transported. This is most signiificant where you have a connecting flight. The bag tag is the way that the airport staff know which plane to put your bag on. If it falls off then they will just put it aside and it will miss the connecting flight. The bag may stay
  12. It's not the long walk into the PBG that is is so bad...so much as the return trip past all those BGs again 5 minutes later when you discover that there are only 3 freelancers in the whole of the 50 metres square PBG bar area.
  13. Great renovations Pete...but are you going to do anything about the long walk to the Beer Garden from Beach road past loads of eager, young bar girls who are keen to pull any males walking past into their bars?
  14. Am I also entitled to a card...I've been to Misty's twice in the last 6 months...that must make me one of the most regular of the customers
  15. Good question and something that I have sometimes thought about. Don't know the answer and fortunately I also cannot speak from experience. Lost luggage counters seem to be more obviously located in Western airports - not noticed any in Suvarnabhumi All I can say is the obvious and what for me is common sense: I always carry my best 'dressing up' clothes in my carry on luggage along with my laptop and other electronic valuables e.g. camera, ipod, etc. Leaving only the stuff in the hold that is replaceable e.g. I can always replace shorts, sandals, t-shirts, pharmaceutical prod
  16. That's because of all the terrorist activity that the Muslims are carrying out down South. Last month I read in the Bangkok Post about 3 people that were killed when their car drove over a terrorist bomb buried in the road in Patani. It was only a small mention. I get the impression that these things go on all the time but do not come to the attention much of Westerners. But the Thais in the North of Thailand know about it all right.
  17. Since when are cow's eyes blue, you nonce!
  18. A year or so ago they used to have street stalls at the start of Walking Street selling German war helmets and flags with Nazi swastikas on them along with the tourist posters, T-shirts and other souvenirs. Call it third world naivety but I doubt whether they knew the significance of what they were selling.
  19. Is it just bars that might discriminate against Indians, Arabs, etc or is it also other places like hotels? I know that there are some hotels e.g. Diamond Beach which tend to have a very large number of Arab residents.
  20. Looking forward to the afterparty when it spills into the area outside the bar later on in the morning.
  21. He'll get back to you no doubt, once that tiny space between his eyes has managed to make sense of these two concepts.
