I don't think it is the same one, this one is before you reach Soi 3 Pattayaland, though is on the other side of the road.

It's not bad, though prices are steadily creeping up. Motorbikes taxis take you up and down for 10 baht per trip. It's a five minute walk. Newly built. Suite doesn't necessarily mean luxury, just more space. Not sure if there are bath tubs. My deluxe room had only a shower. Some have complained about the need to pay cash everyday or in advance. Note that there is a discount for stays of three days or more.

There you are: Chaweng Gardens Beach Resort Chaweng Beach Road, Chaweng Center 162/8, Moo 2, Tambon Bo Phut 84320 Koh Samui, Suratthani, Thailand Tel: 0 7742 2265, 0 7723 0993 Fax: 0 7742 2265 I am not a fan, though know many people that have stayed there. No sea view in the main.

The Ma Maison has some newly built rooms.(Not shown on internet site) Smaller than the rooms on the site, though new and clean with an in room safe, TV and fridge. Food is good and the daily 3 course specials offer good value. If you're young(ish) the girls working there may take an interest in you... in my case, showing obvious signs of jealousy when i brought a 'friend' back. Good location, very close to the beach. Not bad. Negotiate.

Do you need to be on the beach? Hot water? For a good central location, try calling the P&P Resort directly. May get away with 700 baht. Nice place. Clean. Hot water. Fridge. No TV. Beachfront, a bit more. Possible sea view though. If you wish to save cash try Green Guest House. Cold water though. 300 baht+ No sea view, though near the beach and within staggering distance of the action without the accompanying noise. Clean. Green Guesthouse Chaweng Beach Road, Chaweng Center 156/7, Moo 2, Tambon Bo Phut 84320 Koh Samui, Suratthani, Thailand Tel: 0 7742 2611 Fax: 0 7742 2611

A mixture of the fastest (128/256k) and the cheapest(1 baht per min) is on 2nd Road. Turn left out of the South Pattaya Road and it's the second internet cafe on the right, around 100 metres away from the corner.

Woody, Turbo Make sure the mobile is 'network unlocked' by putting a One2call followed by a Dprompt SIM to make sure that the mobile isn't locked to a network. If it doesn't register with both networks then it will need to be unlocked. Can be done in Thailand or the UK(£10). Then, you will be able to use ANY of the UK networks.

Buying or Hiring A Mobile Phone
valentinoxxx replied to patk100's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Do you currently own a mobile telephone? From what country? -
Smitty When you get to MBK(?) try to find a place that will do it on the spot, rather than have to take it away. Why pay a middleman? They'll need a computer and a data cable. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes. BTW did you say that you are not in the Uk at the moment? 'Cos if you are say, in London, it costs £10 to get it unlocked here.
-
Sorry Smitty, all I can tell you is that it's no problem to unlock in the UK, so I don't envisage a problem in Thailand. The problems with Nokias in the past were linked to the changing of the IMEI numbers to replicate a Thai mobile. That is not necessary now. Just a simple unlock code. Should take two minutes.

We have terrorism here too. Some people would argue that the US are the biggest terrorists, dropping more weapons of mass destruction on countries who had never attacked them and supplying more weapons of mass destruction to 'terrorists' than any other nation in the history of our world. 'Nuff said?

Mobile phones and SMS in Thailand
valentinoxxx replied to valentinoxxx's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
BTW, if from the UK and you need a UK number to 'diguise' your location, Virgin Mobile is the cheapest option. £1 to call UK, £0.70p to receive calls. http://www.virginmobile.com/mobile/service...road/abroad.jsp http://www.virginmobile.com/mobile/service...untry_search=79 SIM card is only £10. Register it and choose to pay a bill, that way you won't run out of credit. Do remember though, that if anyone calls you, you will be on one of the Thai networks. So it's possible that they will end up with a message in Thai if your mobile diverts for any reason. Virgin Mobile OZ; https: -

It is 'funny' that we find justification to wage war on 'innocents', affecting their lives through no fault of their own. When it happens to 'us' it's another story altogether. The are, at least, two sides to every story(Quantam physics may prove otherwise), so either take a little time for yourself to find out what it is all about or stay out of it, be impartial. Otherwise you become part of the problem. Do you really believe what you are being told? Lies, damned lies. http://www.observer.co.uk/waronterrorism/s...,754973,00.html http://pilger.carlton.com/ Anyway, back to t

Mobile phones and SMS in Thailand

See above answer to Daniel Budd. Though, of course, if you don't want anyone to know where you are, you'll just have to suffer T Mobile exorbitant costs. -
Mobile phones and SMS in Thailand
valentinoxxx replied to valentinoxxx's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
BTW, note that those charges do not include VAT with the possibility of an added charge to the text messaging cost of the price of a normal UK text. So each txt could cost around £0.35p With calls in Thailand and to the UK £1.30. Receiving a call is £0.80p per minute. The point here being that we are advocating having your mobile 'network unlocked' in the UK(£10) or in Bkk(MahBoonKhrong Centre) and then placing a Thai SIM inside for MUCH reduced call charges. Free to receive, 5 baht(£0.08p) for national and maybe 65 baht(£1) for calls to the UK from Thailand. No damage should be done to y -

Mobile phones and SMS in Thailand
valentinoxxx replied to valentinoxxx's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
mrt Thanks for that link. Wasn't that easy to find. Dprompt recharge cards are also available at 7-11 and any value lasts for 100 days, unlike the One2Call system. Also, with the Dprompt system, you can send & receive emails with a standard non WAP mobile. It's my preference, though I'll always post the alternatives so people can make up their own minds. -
It won't be cheaper from Bkk. What dates are you looking for and what quotes are you getting?

Mobile phones and SMS in Thailand

Can't imagine what that could be. I had three 'unlocked' Nokia mobile telephones, 3210, 6150 & 6210. All worked perfectly. I wonder if someone else could shed some light... ???
