Crackpot Just because you have posted ONE fare does not mean that his statement is incorrect. By the way, can you give the telephone number of an agent where I can book this fare? Ours travel is an Asian specialist and their China Airlines 1 year fares are posted thus; http://home.btclick.com/ourstravel/index2e.htm Low season: £455 plus taxes, Shoulder season; £490 plus taxes, High season: £630 plus taxes. Conditions: http://home.btclick.com/ourstravel/index2e.htm Not quite as attractive as what you have found. So, tell us where WE will find that price? The difference is, the Bkk-Lon tickets I have shown are openly available. secondly, and the point you seem to be missing, is that my suggestion that you buy a Bkk-Lon-Bkk ticket is that it will allow you to reserve your December return almost a year in advance, with normally no cost for date changes.(Many people will travel December 19th to Jan 4th. Many will be paying through the nose for this journey. ) Why it has turned into a huge debate, I don't know. But I also don't mind. There's nothing wrong with intelligent debate. Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against you. There nothing wrong with having differences of opinion. It gives us a chance to illustrate our points of view and may enlighten others as a result.

Nightcrawler Thanks for that. I'll do what you ask. How long are you intending to be in Pattaya? Your insults are misguided. I've been to Thailand a few more times than once. I think it is at least ten times now. Unlike yourself, I don't go there for P4P. I go for training. You'll find me most days, when in Pattaya, here; http://www.weekenderhotel.com/muaythaicamp.html I'm quite possibly younger than yourself, though, of course that is not an issue. A reasonably well trained fighter against a pissed up fat bloke? I would prefer to take care of business here, since I don't want to have to shell out cash to the Thai authorities. But if you piss me off enough, I might make the effort. Anyway, let us not speak about it anymore. If something is going to happen, it will happen.
-
How do you envisage that would help people out? Why not just sell the thing at a special FLB rate? If your prices are keen, then you'll should pick up a bit of custom from here plus a bit more by 'word of mouth'. I'd certainly recommend you if you offered good service and keen prices. Just don't argue with me over the THAI cabin.
-
Your first post. What a suprise. Listen mate, you would never meet me. I would pay for your train fare down to London if you would. If you're serious, we can do it, because I hate cowardice. To be honest though, I know you're just bullshitting. This sort of thing is just too difficult to arrange. If it was me, I would just track you down and hurt you without publicising it. I've taken the time to track down a couple of people who 'crossed that line', though when I saw them I just left them to it. Let's just say the mouth exceeded their bodies capability. I'm willing to bet that you just go talking about it. BTW it seems you've been unlucky with the fares. I've been flying out of Thailand for many years now and NEVER had a problem with getting the ticket I've needed at a good price. I almost always buy 1 year tickets, which have no penalties for date changes. Always at under £500. All decent airlines. What were the circumstances in which you couldn't find a ticket? What fares rules were they that 'wiped you out'? The fares that I've posted are not the ones behaving like a 'whore's knickers'. They are readily available with the travelling periods next to them. I did post a smaller list of more restricted fares afterwards though. Careful about what you wish....
-
Hiya NightCrawler, you old Wanker. If you look back on the thread, you will see that my posts are FULL of fare information. Scoring points? I pointed out that the THAI cabin is basic. It's hardly my fault that Crackpot had taken it personally. More importantly, you TWAT! What Crackpot and I are doing is nothing more than banter. You may not have noticed, but it WAS a productive forum for information. Just look at how much info has come out of the thread. A summary; Thai prices, EVA prices, prices flying out of Thailand, seat pitches and comfort levels of flights out of Thailand and ex UK. Also, in pressing Crackpot to post more info about this flight that he said he had booked for his 'friend' on the 19th, was for the benefit of the forum members. I am SURE that many of them would like to take advantage of a flight leaving on the 19th December and coming back in early Jan for £431. If the banter had gone on, a lot more info on flights may have come out as sometimes, until someone asks the question, the info is not posted. So, before you shoot your mouth off again, go through the post to see what is actually happening. Now go and crawl back under your stone. Crackpot, I'm still waiting for info on that fare. You can PM me if you wish.

Hmmmm...Bit late to say that now. ;D

Sorry, I seemed to have missed the point of this post. Is it supposed to illustrate that the cheapest flights ex UK are not restricted? If so, are those tickets that you have mentioned cheaper than their equivalents ex Bkk? I'll think you'll find they aren't. There's no point in posting a few validity dates, they don't make an argument on their own. I have illustrated my point clearly. Please show the same courtesy to me. Show me the instances where ex UK flights are cheaper than their ex Bkk equivalents. Did you not say that ex UK tickets are cheaper than ex Bkk? I am still waiting to hear about this ticket that you booked for your 'friend' leaving on the 19th of December coming back in early January for £431. This is what I asked you about. Please, no vagueness. If you were being economical with the truth, please say so. If it wasn't those dates, what dates were they?
-
They were the first airline I flew to Bkk with... :) Courier flight. 1 year open ticket. My first flight to SE Asia was to Singapore.

Crackpot What are you on about? Turn it in.. I make a comment about the THAI economy cabin being a little basic, in comparison to what should be it's peers and you come out with all this guff about the Malaysia planes being half full and how they(allegedly) treat their stewardesses. Who should be upset if Malaysia Airlines spend money on their fleet? Me? You? Malaysia Airlines will soon start upgrading it's First and Business Class cabins, further widening the gap. Remeber, not everyone flies out of the UK. Take for example THAI prices out of BKK. You could fly EVA Deluxe for around the same that THAI charge for their 'bog standard' service. TG - Thai Airways Y-RT 0-6 M B THB 35,650 BR - Eva Airways Y-RT 0-6 M L THB 36,500 I've flown with Malaysia Airlines from LHR to Sydney in Economy. I wouldn't consider doing the same journey with THAI. Losing a day travelling to Bkk? How's that then? Sample timetable; MH: LHR 12:00 KL 07:30* KL 08:30 BKK 09:40am A similar flight with Thai would land at 6am. Now where did I lose that day? Leaving Bangkok in the evening instead of midnight? Malaysia Airlines is not the only airline I travel with. Incidentally, I have never been on one of these 40% full long haul flights that you speak of. Again, my point is not how fantastic an airline Malaysia Airlines is, but how basic the THAI economy cabin is. If you cannot accept this, never mind.
-
Don't worry Gus I can see that my 'basic' comment about the Thai Airways economy cabin has brought out feelings of loyalty from Crackpot. That's no reason why either of us should stop posting.

Yeah, you're in the 'industry'.... I won't bother to tell you what 'industry' I'm in. Are you going to say all those reviews were written by their own staff ? It doesn't matter to me anyway. I don't travel THAI economy because it's 'bog standard'. That doesn't mean that I would discourage anyone else from travelling with them. Though, of course, you have a vested interest. Goodnight.
-
What's that? I show you published evidence and you give me your 'personal' opinion. Ok, so we have the world's biggest airline survey and we have you. What my personal choice is...that's up to me.(Don't drink, quite like Malaysia and have friends in Singapore and HK I like to see) It does not change the fact that the THAI economy product is 'bog standard'. Nothing you can say will change that FACT. It seems you have lost your powers of objectivity. Must be all that drinking you're getting in before me.
-
Wrong again Crackpot When I use the term 'open', I mean it in the manner that you can change your return date without penalty. Hassle involved? Not worth it? Ok, price up someone leaving from London to Bkk, leaving on the 19th December and returning in early Jan. Ah, £800+? This journey has never cost me more than £500. The least it has cost me is £210. Again, why is it of interest to me why there are few 1 year 'open' tickets originating from the UK? The point is to be able to travel on the dates I want to, without having to pay inflated 'peak travel' prices. Cheap deals from UK, better than BKK? Wrong again! I have never paid more than £500 for a 1 year ticket from Thailand. What good is a cheap deal, if it is an inconvenience to you? Inconvenient flight times, non changeable datewise.. I indeed did mange to pick up a couple of tickets to Singapore for £212.90, though that was a worldwide sale. Of course, my advice is not suitable for everyone...
-
Here we go again.... Yes, THAI have a 34" seat pitch and that's it! FYI, Malaysia won the award for best cabin service, not best airline. Malaysia Airlines Economy product is streets ahead of THAI, no doubt about it. They've had seatback screens with games and a telephone for many years now, while THAI has still got ZIP. THAI were the top of what league? Point me towards this article. There's no point in quoting some article from the eighties. This is the 21st century and the THAI Economy product is 'bog standard' I've travelled on all three airlines in the past year, long haul. Who cares what "somebody told you" about the Malaysian stewardesses? I have had consistently good service from all Malaysia airline staff. Once, so late for a flight that they locked and cross-checked immediately as I boarded, I expected a slight 'attitude' from the staff. I couldn't have been more wrong. Immediately the head stewardess come over to check that we were comfortable. I flew Singapore Airlines recently(they are consistently at the top of polls) and again their product is streets ahead of THAI. I fly both Malaysia and Singapore Airlines to Thailand to avoid the very basic service that THAI provides. Gives me a extra stopover too. Are you saying more people fly THAI because it's a better product? If Singapore and Malaysia had a similar sex scene to Thailand, their planes would be 'chocka' too and they wouldn't bother to maintain their standards either. Yes, I would STILL prefer to fly BA than THAI, at least there is some entertainment. Why do you think THAI is offering their tickets so cheaply? You need converting? http://www.airlinequality.com/Airlines/TG.htm http://www.airlinequality.com/Airlines/MH.htm http://www.airlinequality.com/Airlines/SQ.htm http://www.airlinequality.com/2003/airline...ne_03_entry.htm http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/thai.htm http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/mas.htm http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/sia.htm Now you find me something that concurs with your opinion. BTW, what does this mean? You said; Thai tickets ARE worth more due to : It being the cheapest non-stop flight from UK-BKK at the time, compared to anything else available." Are you saying they are worth more because they are cheap? :-/ Apart from that statement not being true, (EVA AIR for £408 )..... Yes, I would fly THAI over EVA economy. Though then again I would fly Malaysia, Singapore or Cathay Economy over Thai and EVA.(Unless I was in a hurry) Who both, incidentally, have 34" seat pitches.
-
You could try http://www.mamaisonhotel.com/index2.html on Soi 13. 700 baht.
-
Now, I'm SURE you've been drinking. Remember that the cheap low season tickets ex UK are heavily restricted. Morning flights, dates non changeable... Contrast that with a 1 year or even a 6 month 'open ticket' ex Bkk. Prices? Without giving too much away, the prices of these tickets start at just over £300 plus taxes. Gulf Air, for instance, is 26-27000 baht all in. Now book the UK - Bkk section, well in advance, for a nice convenient date in December(or likely holiday period) and avoid peak rate travel charges. Of course you can change the date if you choose without penalty. See?
-
The visa story is [smiley=bullshit.gif] It seems yer man's a bit of a comedian.
-
Wholly disagree with you there. Malaysia and Singapore Airlines Economy cabins are wholly superior to 'bog standard' Thai. Singapore has seatback screens with 'on demand' entertainment, Malaysia has a 34" seat pitch, seatback screens and award winning service. Even Qatar have seatback screens now. THAI Economy is p**s poor. In fact their whole product range is in need of an upgrade. Just my opinion. Never mind, the people will travel anyway.

An early foreign visitor to Thailand was a Frenchman. Francais = Farangset = Farang = Falang.
