  1. Taking a stroll down South Pattaya Road may uncover what you are looking for. Nokia 'phones should present the least problems.
  2. EVA really seem to be trying to fill their planes...and why not? The 'special' seems to be suspiciously on the days that they fly and the airport tax.... Good deal, it seems.
  3. If that includes tax and you're on a budget, why not? How bad can it be? I think a lot of Israelis use them to travel to Thailand.
  4. I don't agree about the Green Park Resort. Certainly, I didn't find it 'faded and jaded'. I only paid 856 baht for a double room without breakfast. No problem whem I had a friend come to visit me. They would call up if I had a visitor. If I wasn't in, she was allowed to wait for me in reception. Very nice pool with a swim up bar. Tastefully done gardens. It's funny how two people can have such completely different perceptions. Rooms all have balconies facing the pool.
  5. Peteboy is looking suspiciously like an advertiser.
  6. I've seen worse. That's all I will say about that. Unless you are going to putt around at 10 to 15 mph, don't bother. ESPECIALLY NOT, on the islands.
  7. A good alternative, to save cash, for those who want to get as many days as they can over the Xmas hols. This year, 19th Dec to the 4th Jan are the relevant dates. Consider taking a direct Thai Airways flight from Paris, Currently, 748 euros (£543). Enough time to leave work and to grab a connecting flight to Paris. Dep. Lon Fri 2335 Arr. Bkk Sat 1635 Dep Bkk Sun 0005 arr Lon Sun 0645 Connecting flights? Air France £85 19:15 Dep LON 19-Dec-03 21:25 Arr PAR 19-Dec-03 08:00 or 1000 Dep PAR 04-Jan-04 08:25 or 1020 ARR LON 04-Jan-04 For £625 inc taxes, not a
  8. Just to put another side to it... I have a TG friend who, after talking with me for a while, realised what a horrible job it was. She left Pattaya and now resides with her sister in Bkk. Jing jing. She is now considering her options. Going back to Pattaya isn't one of them. She is one of the girls who actually prefer not to be barfined and would just work overtime for extra tips, serving drinks. The paradox is, that I am not interested in an intimate relationship, whereas I seem to meet good girls.(another TG friend in Pattaya works in a shop, nothing to do with the P4P scene) where
  9. If you read through the original post, you will see that I have included links to web messaging services. These enable you send send txt messages, via a computer terminal at no cost to the sender. The link that you've included states that you can only send to UK and US networks. There also appears to be a payment element which you access by calling a PREMIUM RATE number. Not worth the hassle, I think. Sticking to the links I've provided should cover most eventualities.
  10. Site's gone down. I hope it's not indicative of the quality of their service.
  11. Have updated the links and wanted to make it easier for newbies to find.
  12. I think this is a question for http://www.flyertalk.com/ though there may be someone to help you here.
  13. ebookers have not administered this online fare very well. Those of you who wish to take advantage of the offer of a direct flight for under £400 can book it here; http://www.travelselect.com/cgi-bin/starter.cgi and here; http://www.flights4less.co.uk/ The flight dates extend well beyond the Thai Airways deal, which states all travel must be completed by the 9th of July. If looking for flight dates, bear in mind to look for the days on which EVA flys between London and Bkk. Of course, you are not supposed to know that it's EVA.
  14. Always double check. But as long as you are on the beaten track you shouldn't have a problem with Can$ TCs. Hardly a third world country. Bit of a waste having to change currencies Can$ - US$TCs -Thai baht . Any unused US$TCs would then have to be converted back to Can$. I'd keep the Can$, just change what you need before going off to an obscure island. If it will show up on all of the main banks foreign exchange sites, like the one I posted the link to, you can be assured of no problem. I know of at least one story where the presenter of Can$ TCs was accidentally given the rate for
  15. I wouldn't worry about that. November is still low season. The standard price is between 1350 & 1550 baht. Email or fax them directly with your reservation. Don't bother with the intermediate agencies. They probably won't even require a deposit. Just reconfirm by email closer to the date. Centrepoint is very nice though. Your wife will like [smiley=nod.gif]
  16. TC rates are generally up to 1% higher than cash rates. http://www.kasikornbank.com/ForexRateNew/0...4,-EN-1,00.html No problems with acceptance.
  17. Pratunam Park Hotel 40/1 Petchburi 15 Road, Bangkok 10400, Thailand Tel 02 656 2525 fax 02 252 8201 email: ptnpark@loxinfo.co.th a search on google with the hotel name will bring up more photos and info Alternatively, there is http://www.centrepoint.com/eng/location/11...1_petchburi.asp
  18. An alternative may be to fly from Paris, if it's not a problem for you. Looked at dates 19th Dec - 10th Jan 715 euros(£500) with Thai Airways Good option if flying from a regional airport. If you need more details let me know.
  19. http://www.sandyspringhotel.com/ For informational purposes Chok dee khrap
  20. Tying yourself to Thai won't make it any easier either. I get around this by buying my ticket in the LOS and making the December flight my return option. In effect I already have my Christmas ticket. Cost me under £500 return.
  21. Sandy Springs is less than 1000 baht daily if you take a membership at 350 baht. Don't think they have a kitchen though. Ma Maison has a slightly better location to Sandy Springs and has keener pricing. Excellent restaurant too.
  22. It is still possible to fly direct from the UK for £380
  23. Turbo You should be able to use; http://www.telediscount.co.uk/accessnumbers.php if you have a BT line. Check the cost of calling the numbers if you use another provider. Using access number, 0911 9 120 120 to call Thai mobiles will cost 10p per minute. Use 08444 620 620 for Thai landlines at 2p per min.
  24. Give you a ring?? This sounds like your cup of tea; http://www.t-mag.com/ I'm sure you'll get all the info you need from there. I know a lot of guys go there(Pattaya) to do their 'cycles'. Up to you.
  25. Take a look at the SUNSHINE VISTA SERVICED APARTMENTS and do not pay the published prices. http://asiatravel.com/thailand/sunshine_ap...ommodation.html Link to to relevant thread; http://www.freelancerbar.com/cgi-bin/yabb/...;num=1041802373
