  1. I think the confusion may be caused by the airport for Pattaya being called U Tapao. Consider using the Discovery Airpass that pops up with the site.
  2. The Motorola Startac works only on the 800 and 1900 frequencies, so will not be suitable. For an inexpensive mobile for use outside the USA, try the Motorola Talkabout T180. You may be able to pick one up in MBK for 1000 baht or less. Go for a HappyDprompt SIM card or One2call Freedom Plus. Calls within Thailand will be around 2.5 baht per minute. International SMS will be 3 baht via Dprompt. 4.5 to 9 baht with One2call.
  3. IDD would be 001 61 eFone 009 61 Use the links provided above for information and price comparison.
  4. Never heard of it. They have their own website, http://www.leelainn.com/
  5. 17.5 baht tax inclusive, if you use the new 009 eFone service via your mobile telephone. ie 0091 for the USA & 00944 for UK. +91 or +944 respectively, should work just as effectively.
  6. I wasn't expecting there to be a time where I would be almost in total agreement with you. I'm perturbed by the utter vacuity of some of the comments/arguments in this thread.
  7. Bit confused... Call EastWest for flights that are exclusively for existing WestEast passengers... Just teasing Looks like a good offer... for WestEast/EastWest customers. [smiley=cheers.gif]
  8. The charge you saw is for CREDIT CARDS, not Debit cards! ::)
  9. Wrong again, Crackhead! No cash withdrawal fee or Foreign exchange commission. The basic card is the one you get if they decide not to grant you a full current account. This has been the case with someone I know that came from Scandanavia a short time ago and applied for an account. I sure you could request the card specifically. Here's the link again; http://www.nationwide.co.uk/banking/curren...n/cash_card.htm It is NOT Visa backed. Only Cirrus and Maestro. Nationwide do not take any withdrawal fee or foreign exchange commissions. I'm sorry that I took so long to reply. I h

  11. I think Thai and EVA seat pitch is the same, 34". I agree with the timetabling and the relative ease of having an office in Pattaya in case of the need to change your dates. At the mo, EVA is £407 return with Thai coming in at £450 or so. I would go for Thai if the price were the same and EVA Evergreen Deluxe if the price was right.
  12. Yes, all of the places mentioned are beach side. If you want a bungalow and can afford the upper end of budget mentioned. Go for a 'seafront bungalow' at Kings Garden Bungalows King's Bungalow Chaweng Beach Road, Chaweng Center 12, Moo 2, Tambon Bo Phut 84320 Koh Samui, Suratthani, Thailand Tel: 0 7742 2304, 0 7723 0430 Fax: 0 7742 2304 E-mail: kings@mostlysunny.com
  13. I have updated the original post with information on making International calls worldwide from Thailand.
  14. Just use buy a local SIM(see mobile phone thread). It's about 22 baht per minute direct. There is an option for cheaper calls(around 16 baht) using Internet Protocol by placing 009 before your number. Here are the links for information; http://www.cat.or.th/eng/telecom_oversea_e..._efone_eng.html http://www.cat.or.th/eng/comparision.html
  15. No pool. Stick to the hotel building if you want mod cons. Others I know staying there longish term paid around 800 baht for the hotel wing a year or so ago. Very convenient for nightlife. If you want pool, go for Samui Coral. Same quality but quieter,(though only 80 metres further north) Chaweng Villa. I have my own special place to stay...
  16. Doesn't really fit with price and location though....
  17. Pieman In all honesty, for your budget there are many places you can stay in as long as you are not bothered about a beachfront bungalow. The most central to the entertainment area being the Samui Coral Resort(Hotel Wing). http://www.samuicoralresort.com/Home_ing.html Next being the hotel wing of Chaweng Gardens. ( Chaweng Gardens Beach Resort Chaweng Beach Road, Chaweng Center 162/8, Moo 2, Tambon Bo Phut 84320 Koh Samui, Suratthani, Thailand Tel: 0 7742 2265, 0 7723 0993 Fax: 0 7742 2265 A little quieter would be the likes of the Beachcomber (Hotel wing) or C
  18. Don't remember seeing them. I was staying with a Swiss girl who took a fancy to me.... She was also staying in the hotel building.
  19. Ah, that must be the Deluxe Villa at; Deluxe Villa Double 01.11.02-26.12.02 3,950 bt 27.12.02-05.01.03 6,500 bt 06.01.03-20.04.03 5,500 bt 21.04.03-15.07.03 3,950 bt 16.07.03-15.09.03 5,500 bt 16.09.03-31.10.03 3,950 bt Not beachfront though, I think.
  20. Ma Maison Soi 13. Insist on one the new rooms.(Picture on the site. Click on 'Hotel'. Picture, "A hotel room"). http://www.mamaisonhotel.com/AEindex.htm
  21. Depends whether you want a bungalow, a hotel room or something in between. Beachcomber has only rooms. Chaweng Villa has something in between and The Island has bungalows(Request the Seafront Bungalow) http://www.bluelagoonhotel.com/ http://www.chawengvilla.com/ http://www.islandsamui.com/island_en.html Not recommendations as such. For comparision purposes only.
  22. I just flew, for the first time, on BA Club World Bkk - Lon. http://www.britishairways.com/travel/clbwl...ld/public/en_gb Not bad, but not cheap.
