Koh Chang used to be my favourite. I stopped going there a couple of years ago. I may go to take a look to see what they've done to it.

Website as of yet? I think this place has been around since the sixties. If it hasn't a website now, I don't think it's going to happen... Good location... The room I saw needed updating. IMO. [smiley=cheers.gif]

Air con? Is that the bungalows? Last time I looked he was building a hotel. Has that been completed?

I think it is because it is a 'tour bus' hotel, prolly for Koreans and the like. In the low season it's probably....quiet. I think it's opposite Soi 8 or thereabouts. :) http://www.caesarpattaya.com/pattaya-hotel...fact-sheet.html

Re: if sending money to los why not cheques

You may not be spending stupid amounts of commission, but you are paying £1.50 for EACH withdrawal plus a commission of 2.25% with the Halifax. Get yourself a Nationwide account for travel. "Halifax Bank Charges for using your card abroad If you use your card abroad, the amount of the transaction will be changed to pounds sterling on the date we take it out of your account. This may not be the same date that the transaction is carried out. We'll choose the exchange rate that applies and we'll include a conversion fee of 2.25% of the amount of the transaction. We will also deduct a service charge of £1.50 from your account immediately for each transaction." -

Easy now, CrackHead ::) This forum is for the exchange of information. For people who cannot get a full account, the cashcard is a useful resource. It can save you £40 or more over £1000 pounds. A useful saving. Also, you are not penalised for withdrawing small amounts. so, if you are at the airport and need to withdraw 500 baht for airport tax.... You are charged for exactly 500 baht at 'wholesale' rates. Unlike the...... -
Yer pays yer money, you takes yer choice. Word of advice. Get yourself an MBNA CC. If you pay for your flight with the CC you get a limited travel insurance. The section of interest is the Travel Delay section: If your flight is delayed for eight hours or more you can spend £250 on food and accommodation. Far better than the £20 after 12 hours most TI offers.

No need to pay for a taxi from the airport(UTapao) to Pattaya. There is a Bangkok Airways bus service. It takes you to your hotel for 150 baht. The booth is situated just before you exit from the airport. A minibus from Pattaya to U Tapao airport should cost no more than 300 baht. Try a local travel agent.

Dear Fatboyfat I am writing to let you know that you have been misinformed by whomsoever you have spoken with. Said card(I will repost the link); http://www.nationwide.co.uk/banking/curren...n/cash_card.htm IS useable abroad. I repeat, IS useable abroad. Look for cash machines that have the CIRRUS sign(possibly MAESTRO too). The may not be as populous as VISA, though I have seen many in Thailand. Same conditions as the full service card; No Forex commissions and no cash withdrawal charges. Have fun. -
My first ever trip to SE Asia was bought via Polo Express. £150 return. Those were the days. :) Just called, no special offers at the mo. BA is £570 inc tax and insurance for August, for your dates.

Avoid paying with cash if you can. Find out what sort of protection your credit card can offer.

Eva's price sounds ok. I'll check courier flights.

Be careful... A friend of mine went to Singapore for electronics purchases and came back very unhappy. I haven't got the full story yet. Get a worldwide guarantee.

May be even more useful if the bank accounts and credit cards that are being used are named. -
What prices have you seen and for what duration?

The Orange counter at Terminal 1 of Bangkok International Airport is open 24-hours a day, seven days a week. You can call 0 2996 7073 to check phone availability. I'm not sure about Dprompt or One2call. Possibly. -

All three networks have a booth at the airport. Try there. -
Phuket and Samui hotels?
valentinoxxx replied to eddydb's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
No guest charges on Samui. -
Where are they advertising this?
-
Don't worry... At the airport in Bkk, you go to the Bangkok Airways ticket office on the lowest floor of the Domestic Terminal. Unlike the travel agents, Bkk Air will not make a CC surcharge. Ask for the Discovery Airpass and then go through your itinerary with them. There is no charge for date/time changes other than the first sector(ie Bkk - Chiang Mai). Yes it would be a good deal as each sector would cost less than 2000 baht. I think Chiang Mai - Phuket may be 2 sectors. Check this.

I'm proud of you ma boy. I am deliberately staying out of this thread as this is something I feel passionately about. Many of these arguments have been covered in threads posted before the invasion. Some of the subjects I covered before the invasion; The Neo Conservatives involved with the http://www.newamericancentury.org/ Their involvement in the attacking of Iraq and the reasons for going to war. The fact that it had little or nothing to do with WMD. The attempted linkage(failed) with Al Qaeda and Iraq. The blantant lies from the US and UK government. I surmise that few informed people still doubt that both GWB and TB lied. I could believe that GWB simply didn't know as the holes in that man's depth of knowledge echo the open sapces in the Grand Canyon.(This was the man that did not know that there were Negroes residing in Brazil) Tony Bliar, I cannot believe that he did not know that information that he put forward was simply false. If I had access to this information, it seems ludicrous for our PM to claim that he did not know the claim that Iraq could and would launch WMD against our allies outside Iraq were blatantly untrue. My belief in my research has been borne out over time. There will always those who have a diferent view, though the paucity of the arguments I came up against at the time and that I have seen thus.... On the one hand we are told that Saddam Hussein oppressed his people, signified by imprisoning citizens and "killing his own people" Yet no similar outrage of similar behaviour from the USA and Britain.. Is that because it is not your own people but someone else, somewhere else? Imprisoned without trial? Beaten to death by British soldiers.. 1.4 million killed by sanctions.... WMD? The mother of all bombs used in Afghanistan and Iraq by the USA, Cluster bombs containing depleted Uranium(as if they are not devastating enough anyway) used by the British.... Civilians killed in both invasions. We hear so little about civilian casualties in Afghanistan and Iraq. Especially Iraq. How sickening it was to see our PM saying that he did not want to attack Iraq. It was all in Saddam Hussein's hands he said. If he gave up the WMD all would be well. They(USA &UK) KNEW where they were, so the UN Inspectors were sent to the sites that the BEST US intelligence informed them of. NOTHING! When the UN Inspectors came back and said so, they were told by the US that they DEFINITELY had them so the fact that Saddam Hussein hadn't come up with them meant that he was lying. So therefore the fact that he hadn't come up with them was forcing them to go to war against their will. YEAH RIGHT! So where are they? When the public looked like they weren't swallowing that, they came up with the "killing his own people" chestnut. Was it true? http://www.polyconomics.com/searchbase/11-18-98.html Make up your own mind. Yet, on the other hand I still see some 'banging on about' '9-11. As if an American life is worth more than anyone else's... Oops! I wasn't going to get involved in this....
