  1. If you're gonna use Toom, if you haven't had a reply in 24-hours, you should write back. He (they) are good at quick responses. What email addy did you use?
  2. Hey walt, what's your budget? I've used Toom almost exclusively for a while - his info is here. But others swear by various different services. Before leaving the states, I just assume that I'm dropping 1,200 for the ride to Ptty (with Toom).
  3. I stayed at Areca lodge last time I was in Ptty. They told my friend that they were full too. But I'd saved my confirmation email from "Dear" - from the prior visit. So I wrote her (by replying) a persional email saying how I knew that it was always busy, but could she find me a good room. PLEASE. No probs. Confirmation from Dear via another email within 18 hours. Save confirmation emails from hotels you stay at and try and get a name of some sort (nickname or real name). If you like the place, don't book via the website...use their email addresses and use their names in the s
  4. Thanks Emil, you're always chock full of good info. I'll check it out next time. The pizza at the place I described is good IMO. Thin crusted (but not burnt crispy), original pizza margurita. Sit on a table outside and wave at the Lolitas girls waiting for their next customers. :-)
  5. He means there's a joiner fee for EXTRA guests - above the 1 TG you bring to your room. In other words, you bring 2 TGs to your room for a threesome, you have a 300 baht surcharge for the "extra" girl.
  6. Is this the pizza place at the corner of Soi Diana Inn and the street that veers off toward Lolita's? (on the right, with your back to Areca Lodge). I love the pizza at that place. It's good stuff.
  7. I have to put in an unsolicited testimonial to Mr. Toom's service as well. Been coming to Ptty since the late 90s and he's prolly been the most reliable. My driver is always waiting for me, sign in hand. My flights have ranged from coming in 55 minutes early t0 4 hours late. Never a problem. I know that some guys have reported no-show drivers. And I do not, in any way, wish to cast doubt upon their reports. We all have individual experiences. So I don't disrespect those who say that other limo services are better for them. That being said... ....I think that many of the peop
  8. Thanks a lot (and you too, Martin). I guess I was hoping that they'd have a website up b/c you can get a lot more info from photos, descriptions, etc. I'll email them....though the board rate for LK metro may make this decision a financial one and perhaps I'll be staying down the road from the Renaissance. best to both of you, Harv
  9. I did. How about a quick computer check guys. For me, the front page loads, but the "enter" button does nothing. Can anyone else get it to work? (Yes, I've loaded the latest version of Flash) http://www.lkpattaya.com/
  10. Anyone have the URL for the LK Renaissance hotel? I'm interesting in booking a room for an upcoming visit. Thanks in advance.
  11. OK - I get it now. This is GREAT info...thanks a lot. It sound like meeting up is a lot more complicated than coming into the old airport, where the meet-up directions were either turn left or turn right as you come out of customs. I'll just have to wing it - I have my reservations with Mr. Toom for Feb arrival - and hope that I bump into his driver. (Actually, because he has my flight number, I'm thinking that the driver will be able to better determine if I"m coming out of B or C?) I hope so. Harv
  12. This is kinda off topic, but related. I haven't been to BKK since they opened the new airport. I've booked Mr. Toom to pick me up next month. Question: What is the set up like at the new airport as you leave immigration/customs?? (e,g., at the old airport, you could go left or right equally easily and people waited for you on both sides.) Is it the same at the new airport? And if so, which way do turn as I exit immigration/customs to find Mr. Toom's driver? Thanks
  13. Just FYI... From EVA Air's website, $750 for flights in November from Newark (EWR) to BKK and return. Just under $1K for Evergreen class. Lets you book your seats online after ticketing. http://www.evaair.com Harv
  14. Pete - Take a look at darn July and August calendar. It's a complete cluttered mess with the daily: Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town Harvey in town type of entries. Do these guys purposefully enter themselves manually each and every day? Or is it the calendar system (and some button that can be disabled) that automatically fills each day within a range?? Harv
  15. EVA can get me out of JFK in November for $710. ($920 for Evergreen Deluxe class). That's pretty decent for late November. If I can clear my work schedule, perhaps a short 9-day trip is in my future.
  16. Sorry guy, I voted no. I've actually been to Hungary - spent a week in Budapest. And while the food was fine, I'm not going all the way over to Thailand to eat Hungarian food. I'm gonna eat Thai food as much as I can.
  17. He means the that bathrooms in the J.W. Marriott are GREAT. They're huge, size of some rooms. I love that hotel. P.S. for the guys asking about rates, you can generally book a room via their website from between $130 - $225 (US) a day.
  18. From February of last year. http://www.freelancerbar.com/cgi-bin/yabb/...;num=1014461849
  19. The J.W. Marriott BKK - Sukhumvit Soi 2 - is among the best properties I’ve stayed at…ever. I don’t always get to stay here during business trips to BKK, but when I do it’s always an experience. The rooms are handsome, large and impressive. As is the service and attention to detail. If you travel lots and can choose Marriott properties, racking up points and status in Marriott Rewards program seem to give you some benefits. I’m always assigned a room at the end of the hallways, which feature rounded windows with a panoramic view of the city over a 90 degree angle. The end-of-hall ro
  20. Yeah Floyd, the time over new years is peak season and prices rise. (I'm here in the middle of low season now). I was in Pattaya over the 1999/2000 holiday. I celebrated the millenium with a bunch of pals, some great TGs, over on third road where we were listening to live Thai music on one of those performance stages (complete with dancers!), having Thai food, whiskey and sodas, and a New Year countdown in Thai. Fun! Enjoy your trip over the holidays. Only 6 more months! :-) Harv
  21. Actually, it's why they bill it as "mini-suite". But the bed is really large - I think the size gets lost in translation. Plenty large enough for 3 or 4 folks at once. :-) Harv
  22. I’ve reviewed the Flipper House before and posted photos of the pool (one of the best, if not the best around IMHO) as well. I write these words on June 7, 2003 after checking in last night. The combination of low season, SARS, and fears associated with traveling after the Iraq war have seemingly conspired to leave many Pattaya hotel rooms empty. Whereever I roamed today, they were advertising free room nights for every “x” nights that one booked. I’ve reviewed the regular rooms before, but this time, I booked a mini-suite. Costs me 1,000 baht. The rooms are the “77” of the group (
  23. I disagree completely. I just *hate* when guys post that they are there every freaking single day of the visit. June 5: Harvey in town. June 6: Harvey in town. June 7: Harvey in town. June 8: Harvey in town. June 9: Harvey in town. June 10: Harvey in town. June 11: Harvey in town. June 12: Harvey in town. June 13 Harvey in town. June 14: Harvey in town. June 15: Harvey in town. etc, etc. Simply go to the calendar page, URL here: http://www.freelancerbar.com/cgi-bin/yabb/...action=calendar Click on June. That's the way the calendar should look. And hey, yo
  24. These are my two baht. NEVER buy a set until you have tried them out. So much of golf is mental and self-confidence. A clubs "feel", even it's appearance is important. When you're lined up for a crucial shot under pressure, and you have a club that you're comfortable with, can line up well, and look at and feel confident in - your game will be a whole lot better. To start, get a full set, but not an expensive one - but not a real cheap one either. One that will last you through your initial learning curve and last maybe 3-4 (or more) years. After you're consistent with your
