  1. Nothing against the Sharks, they're my second favorite team, just saying even the best teams can have a bad night. The Pens didn't give up and say, "Eh, we'll just win it in game 7 at home." Even with Malkin and Crosby having off nights, the rest of the guys played hard and fought back to win. Realistically I'm not sure the Pens can get past Ovechkin and the Capitols this year. I'm also waiting for the other shoe to drop with the Sharks - they have a bad habit of under-achieving in the play-offs. No predictions from me yet. I'll keep rooting for the Pens and let things play out f
  2. Well, they were down 3-0 in the second period, on the road, in a very tough arena, and scored 4 unanswered goals, none of them from their stars Crosby or Malkin, to pull out a win in OT. That's what championship teams do. Bring on the Bruins (or maybe the Sabres).
  3. No fun for me. It's tough when you play for over 4 hours and get an "L", AT HOME!!!! The Pens just gave the momentum back to the Senators. I hope they can steal a win in game 6 in OOO-tawa, but I'm not betting on it. Why am I thinking this might go 7?
  4. What's a decent beer drinking hour? ASN replays the games at various times. They had a hockey double-header on Wednesday night, 6:30 - 10 PM. That's pretty good beer drinking time in my book. They were games from the previous day, but it's better than nothing. Just walk into a bar and ask if they have channel 108. I'll tell you a good place to try - Amazing Paradise on Soi 7. They have a great TV set-up, and I'll bet they have ASN.
  5. They're shouting "Hail Satan!" in Boston today. Miroslav Satan snuck one past the Sabre's Ryan Miller for the game-winner in double OT, and now the Bruins are up 3-1 in the series. Note to soccer fans: the game was tied 2-2, but they kept playing until someone won. I was drinking in a bar in Ban Phe last night and got to watch my Pens beat up on the Senators 7-4, including 2 goals for "Sid The Kid". One more victory and the Pens will be moving on to the second round.
  6. Make the field smaller, put 'em on ice and give them sticks. It's the same basic game, except faster paced and more action.
  7. A bar has to have one of the True Vision packages (Platinum & Silver?) that carry the All Sports Network (ACN). I think it's channel 108. I know Tequilia Reef has it.
  8. The quest for Lord Stanley's Cup has begun, and my Pittsburgh Penguins, defending Stanley Cup Champs, have evened their series with the Ottawa Senators. Check out this hit. Luckily Jordan Leopold was able to skate away. Let's get some Hockey Talk going. Who's gonna win it all this year? You know who I'm rooting for.
  9. Are you talking about grown up, bearded Jesus, or sweet Baby Jesus? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5A0-u85aAYg
  10. Something about athletic young men wearing shorts, running free together around a big grassy field while kicking a ball.
  11. Well, Butler beat the spread.
  12. No doubt Duke is playing well. West Virginia was a very good team, probably could have been a #1 seed, and Duke dispatched them with ease. Coach K has his team peeking at the right time - that's why they're in the championship game. That said, it's obvious Butler should have been a higher seed than a #5. They've already beaten a #1 seed (Syracuse), a #2 seed (K-State), and the tourney zen master Tom Izzo (Mich St), so it's not like they've gotten to the big game by playing patsies. I think the home city advantage will be huge for them - Butler University is only 5 miles from downtown I
  13. My last post was almost 2 weeks ago. I'd given this thread up for lost. The college basketball fans on this board have been strangely quiet during the tournament. Guess I should have removed part of my brain and posted this topic in the Members Bar. But , since you revived the thread . . . Underdog Butler will be playing for the national championship in their home city vs the college basketball Goliath that is Duke University. Should be a great game. Go Butler!
  14. Here are the Sweet Sixteen match ups: Midwest (9)Northern Iowa vs (5)Michigan State (6)Tennessee vs (2)Ohio St West (1)Syracuse vs (5)Butler (6)Xavier vs (2) Kansas State East (1)Kentucky vs (12) Cornell (11) Washington vs (2) West Virginia South (1)Duke vs (4)Purdue (3)Baylor vs (10) St Mary's Lots of upsets, and lots of high seeds advancing. -Notice every #1 seed advanced to the Sweet Sixteen . . . except one -Cinderella Northern Iowa has a chance against Michigan St, who may be without their star player. -Gotta love Cornell and Washington a
  15. Hahahahahaha! The Jayhawks go down! Love it, love it, love it! Ninth-seeded Northern Iowa sends the number one team in the nation to the trash pile. Hahahahahahaha!
  16. Looks like Cornell and Mizzou were the only real upsets on Friday. I'm trying to get the highlights from the Mizzou game to load, but so far no luck. They'll have their hands full with West Virginia. Come on Northern Iowa! Take down the Hawks!
  17. An exciting first day of basketball. -#3 seed Georgetown, a sexy pick to make the Final Four, goes down to 14th seeded Ohio. -It took BYU 2 overtimes to beat Florida -The 15th seeded Robert Morris Colonels (who? ) took #2 seeded Villanova to OT before losing 73-70 on a last-second missed shot. The crowd gave the Colonels a standing ovation as they left the court. -Number 13th seeded Murray State beat 4th seeded Vanderbilt 66-65 with a buzzer-beater from 15 feet out. -Northern Iowa won it's first NCCA tourney game in 20 years by beating UNLV 69-66. -Old Dominion and
  18. I watched Cal beat UCLA in the PAC 10 tourney this weekend. Cal has a stud of a shooting guard. They looked pretty good to be an 8 seed.
  19. The top seeds are Kentucky, Syracuse, Duke, and the team I hate the most, Kansas. Lotta big name schools didn't make it this year (North Carolina, UCLA, Arizona, UMass). I really miss spending the day in a casino sports book and watching hoops all day. Anybody have an underdog they like? Here's a link to the bracket: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball...rnament/bracket
  20. I was rooting for the USA team, but not unhappy about Canada winning the gold. That was an incredible championship game, and USA goalie Ryan Miller was a deserving MVP, even in a losing cause. "Sid The Kid", a whiner? Sid is awesome, and the Pens are gonna take home the Cup again this year.
  21. I was in for dinner on Sept 4th, which I think was the night you shot the video. I can't say enough good stuff about the place. Chicken Cordon Blu was great, had a couple of beers, great service from bartender Nok. Plenty of hot freelancers, unfortunately I was not shopping at the moment. If I'd seen the hottie in the red-and-white-striped shirt I might not have left alone. Love the coasters, as modeled here by Nok. Great atmosphere. Then there's the view . . . One of the best views in Pattaya, definitely the best from ground level. You have a fan. I'm mak
  22. Guess I'm in the minority here, but I preferred CB2. Lots of good guys hung out there. We could sit and talk . . . and be easily heard. Quiet location, tucked back there away from the street. Fewer touts bothering you. I liked the set up of the bar. It seemed like a neighborhood bar. I for one will miss it. Everybody saying this sale will be better for your health? Yeah, all that time Adam spent at CB2 will now be spent at the library. Coyote dancers, huh? See you Friday at that other bar.
  23. Here's a few I took that night. Yet another great Cherry Bar party.
  24. I have a bad headache today so it must have been a good party. Congrats Adam.
  25. I forgot to stop by when I was in town a couple of weeks ago. I'll definitely make a Friday trip to see the drawing. Great idea Pete.
