  1. Yes Gary, I know your condo complex, (Baan sun lalana) I believe...? It is on my list but we'll down it. It is a very good value for money with many things in its favor. My first choice is a condo in the Pratamnak area, (I know it's a lot more expensive) but that's what I will shoot for first, but I don't think me or anyone can be hurt financially with a buy of a Baan sun Kalama condo. I would buy one there rather than rent if I had to wait for something I like in Pratamnak. You did very good 10 years ago.
  2. A bit off the my main posting about real estate agents or properties but it factors in a great deal, is the baht conv. rate. Today, on the CE site "Gary", gave the baht dollar rate was over 34 baht, (34.16), and the pound was 53.24. Very nice for us with dollars and pounds. I just hope it holds out or keeps climbing for my move within the next year or so.
  3. Good to see all of you "pound" chaps are getting a few more baht now. P.S. Gawd Elpus, I love that red rump on your moniker. LOL LOL
  4. Thank you Saddic. Yes that FX page is one of the two that I use. One more follow-up question to the fellow board members that are in Pattaya and who keep a close eye on the rates; your opinion, have you ever noticed any days of the week pattern that the currency prices are stronger. For example, are Friday and Saturday usually better prices for foreign currencies than say a tuesday?? Thank you in advance. Sam.
  5. Can anyone currently relay the tt - money changers booth rate today? I just noticed on the Thai visa foreign exchange page the US dollar was at 33.42, for a VERY big jump in the last few days...??? Thank you for your time. Sam.
  6. Good article in the "Nation", read it twice. Thanks MM for bringing it to my attention?
  7. Sorry KM. "Your cursor will be flashing just beneath it on the left", not on my smart phone. No flashing cursor.
  8. Thanks Parkwahn. I don't plan on ever selling, but who knows if I do sell would be nice to break even and then I would have saved all that rent money. Lol lol lol. By the way, what does Parkway mean?
  9. I'll try and figure it out. Lol lol lol. Hope I don't bother u to much. Have a great day and thanks for keeping an eye on me.
  10. Thanks Greg and Park for the 3 articles you posted. I read them, and noticed they were from 2008, 20012 and 201. So seems like to me things are going in my direction (buyers market).??? Just my take - away from them.
  11. Yes greg_b, what u r saying in the second half of your post is what I will be looking for. I hopefully will be moving permanently in less than a years time and I m seeking to live in my place, not rent it out. As I have been alluding to in my previous posts about what some expats there in Pattaya think about the current and near future R E situation. You stated some of your friends invested in a condo in 2009 and now can't sell it. This is the type of deal I m seeking when I actually get my boots on the ground permanently in the Pattaya area. I m thinking there should be even more and even bet
  12. Hello nkped, Sam here. Can you tell me what part of the USA did you buy tour condo in, in 2007? I bought my first house here in Las Vegas 4-5 years ago and got a deal of a lifetime. I am close to the strip, and it has appreciated greatly. That is why I am going to move to Thailand; found money overnight so to speak with the equity appreciation of my house. You said you live in Jomtien. How do u like it there? Have you personally Seen any mass exodus off Russian expats in the last year or so? I would be interested in your opinion on the condo status, like you mentioned on all the new high rise
  13. Thanks English in Siam and greg_b for your thoights. My plan if I do not have a place lined up when I make the permanent move is to rent from month to month until I find a place I am "delighted " with. Very few things are perfect, but I believe I can find a property the fits a majority of my desires, (price, location, size, etc.). The reason I started this topic was because I have done a lot of research on the internet, (via RE websites in the Pattaya area as well as reading numerous ex pat forums such as this one and "thai visa", and others). My next step is to actually converse with maybe
  14. Thank you Jacko for your time to reply back to me and some of your experiences on your RE purchases. I am very pleased to hear you say currently ir is a "buyers market" in Pattaya. I have thought that myself but good to hear it from someone else who is actually there. I think one of the main reasons that may be is the large exodus of the Russian expats due to the drastic reduction of the ruble. Your opinion Jacko, and anyone else please feel free to chime in, do u think pics will drop a little over the next year? And also your opinion, yes I said opinion about the Thai financial minister deval
  15. Yes Jacko to just about all of your questions. I am 99% sure of the area, price range, resale condo, that I am looking for. But of course always something out of the blue can come up. I desire to get as much information as I can before I make any concrete decisions. I know as in life there are many unsavory people and this in compasses the real estate business. I hear and read on-line mostly of many people being swindled mostly on new, one-off condo scams-deals. I don't desire to be one of them. I always wanted a house, but even the tiniest - slightest possibility of the company scam being loo
