RideHer Cup Practice Round
cmagrad replied to doghaus's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
I have arrived ... my clubs have been found ... and we are both at the same hotel. Life is good I will be there for the practise round Brian -
I have a pretty bad hip which forces me to toss from side to side all nite. As much as I love a warm body next to me they usually seem to drift further and further onto my side and I end up having to give them a mighty shove and feign sleep. This way I can reach across if I want body contact but they can't come over unless they fall thru the crack.

I'm not really worried about it as I'm only there 2 weeks and there is always a chance if I smooze a bit I can get a king bed anyway. I've always stayed Soi 8 in past trips and have wanted to try Flipper for a while. My main concern will be to line up long term lodging for after my Philippines trip. That is if I can get this stupid Visa squared away. I have this nagging suspicion that I'll be doing Visa runs every month again.

I went to the Thai Consulate in Chicago today and found some interesting information. From reading the above listed post this was previously said. If you can't get a Non-Immigrant then the next choice is a 3 entry tourist visa. That will allow you to stay for up to 9 months. Failing that a double entry (6 months) or a single entry (90 days). Note: With the tourist visas regardless of how many entries on it you will get 60 days on arrival, which can be extended at immigration for another 30 days on payment of the 1900 baht fee. You must then leave the country but if you have a 2 or 3 entry you can return immediatly and repeat the process, for as many times as you have entries. Once you have used up all your entries you can either get a new visa at an embassy outside Thailand and start again, or start the process of visa runs with no visa in which case the 3 stamp rule will start to apply from your first entry into Thailand without a visa. I don't think that is accurate. I had tickets in hand for a 5 month stay in Thailand. I went to the consulate office with the idea of getting a 3 entry tourist visa. I was DENIED. I was told that since I was only entering the country one time I could only get one Visa and not 2 or 3. My plans have been to enter Thailand and stay 2 weeks, fly to Philippines for a month, then fly back to thailand for 3 months. The Thai consulate told me that if I had my ticket from bangkok to manila with me when I first arrived in Bangkok that I could request the standard no visa 30 day entry (since I was staying less then 30 days proved by ticket) and that when I returned to Thailand I could then use the single entry 60 day Tourist Visa. How do you get a 2 or 3 entry Tourist Visa if you only have tickets for Thailand?? Since I don't know how long I will be in Philippines I can not buy the round trip ticket now. I guess the only way to guarantee no problems would be if I could get a tourist visa from the thai consulate in the Philippines (which I don't know if I can get). I would hate to run out of time with 2 months left on my stay. This crap makes my head hurt.

The only room for my first 2 weeks is 2 twin beds. Could some one who has stayed there tell me if the room is arranged so that the 2 twins can be pushed together? Thanks Brian

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VISA TYPES AND PURPOSE OF VISIT :- NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (May required the approval from the Ministry Concerns from Thailand in case by case and required invitation letter from Thailand) Purpose of visit: BUSINESS and CONFERENCE (requiring the business letter with letter-head explains purpose of visit, also included name of company, organization or mission and address in Thailand), RESEARCH, TEACHING, MASS MEDIA or MISSIONARY (requiring the letter with letter-head from company, agency or organization sending you on your mission, and also the letter from your counterpart in Thailand). TEACHING AND EDUCATION (requiring the letter with the letter-head from educational institution in Thailand). FAMILY REUNION (requiring marriage or birth certificates). SETTLEMENT AFTER RETIREMENT (requiring proof of retirement and financial support). MEDICAL TREATMENT (requiring letter from licensed doctor). (Maximum stay 90 days, extension of stay may be applied in Thailand.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are under 50 which category would I be able to get? I was thinking Missionary but I also prefer doggy style.

I was more concerned on how it would affect my 2 stamp re-entry tourist visa. I was planning on going to the PHilippines early in the trip and would have a number of months left in LoS after. I'm trying to avoid the 30 day runs.

I had a Visa question that I hoped someone might have the answer to. I was planning on buying my airline tickets from US to LoS with the ultimate travel dates of November 1st until March 15th and then apply for my tourist Visa here in the US after I received my itenerary. My question is if there is any difficulty in buying airline tickets to other countries while I was in Thailand? (i.e. philippines) Does that mess up the original Tourist Visa status? If my first Tourist Visa was at 50th day and I then travelled to Philippines for 20 days. Have I exceeded my 60 day tourist Visa in LoS? Or does it start and stop when I come and go? Thanks in advance Brian

The look like a nice place to rent for 15k / month. Any downside?

I ended up buying a set of Ping I5 irons with Ping Driver, 3, 5 woods. They had a demo day locally which gave me a chance to test out most named brands. I went with Ping because they mad it easiest to customize my clubs. Shafts +1inch with 4degree upright. Now if I can just figure out how to use them. The first round with the new irons I never hit a green in regulation.

Are there any hot spots for buying quality clubs in the area? Hong Kong or Singapore maybe? I'm due for an upgrade soon and might combine a club buying/"sight seeing" trip.

I've always flown Malaysian Airlines. Great service and larger seats but a little more expensive (at least when I priced them)

What's the summer time golf like? I remember walking around Nong Nok in the summer a few years ago and can't imagine golfing without sweating off 10 lbs. Is it mostly mornings or do the courses go strong all day long?

Everything is going to be advertised as High End while it is being built. But when they are completed I think they're all pretty much the same. Your best bet is to get into an established place and not try to speculate. Speculate is Thai for profit margin

Eva deluxe will normally be all the room you need. I'm 6'5" and usually don't have any problems but be careful of some places. There are a couple of exit seats that are right next to the door and with the curve of the plane you will have about 2 inches of knee room on the window side (try flying 14hrs with your legs crossed). Also the front rows are not really best for us tall people. Yes they will have more knee room but that front wall goes all the way to the floor so there will be no room for your feet. Someone posted a link to the eva delux seating plan. That should help Edit: found a seating chart link http://www.evaair.com/html/b2c/english/eva...le/Fleet_facts/ Edit2: http://www.evaair.com/image/global/chinese...47-400-386a.jpg Seat that had no leg room for me 27A. Seats with no feet room for me Row 35. Dream seats - 27C/D/G/H, 26.

Will I have any problem with walk in availability there next week?

Thai girls don't like facial hair. If they tell you they like it they are lieing. Will it affect your visit in LoS? No.

Thai golfing vacation - question
cmagrad replied to cmagrad's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
Do any of the courses require Caddy/Cart? If you have a cart do you still need a caddy? If I walked 9holes then wanted a Caddy/Cart would that typically be pro-rated. I know those questions seem like the answer would be pretty obvious but I"m trying to think like a Thai. Does anyone know if they offer monthly or longer period of time flat fees for courses? -
I was wondering if I wanted to spend 3 months in the Pattaya area at one of the places that cater to golfers and was to play 1 round a day 5 days a week .... how much would that cost me. Also are these golfer friendly hotels also TG friendly? Any information would be appreciated. I'm planning on heading back to LoS in Oct or Nov and want to spend 3-6 months there. Sounds like a good time to work on the ole game. B

Is that an EVA economy or deluxe economy price?
