  1. Johnny, Sunny was just about to move from Soi 2 when I was last there in Nov 03. He said he would be moving somewhere near the Naklua circle. You can check him out at www.sunnyonline.com Oops. Sorry I just checked and the website dosent seem to load. But I know for sure he didnt go very far from Soi 2. Cheers Ian
  2. Sparkey, Do check out www.staralliance.com Star alliance is a group of airlines that will let you use FF miles on any of the member airlines. The benefits are great. You can choose one of the member airlines as your regular one and accumulate miles when you fly any airline in the group. Thai Air is a member and so is Lufthansa. Emirates is a mileage partner as well. I have been a member since a year and have about 70K miles in my account now. Saving for a free trip in March. Like the others have done, you can apply for a visa card through them and get 15K miles free and a mile for ever
  3. El, Try the Sony Ericsson Triband GSM. I use mine on AT&T network. Had the instrument tinkered with to accept any SIM card now. Absolutely no probs. You can use the phone with your US SIM card until you leave and replace it with a Thai SIM when you reach LOS. Works great for me. Cheers Ian
  4. Jte, Thanks a ton. I normally fly united too. Just wanted to check if there was an easier way around. Flights via Europe will probably have fewer stops & hence the interest. Cheers Ian
  5. Jte, What airlines do you normally take from Orlando ? Did you have to fly via the west coast ( LA / SFO ) or did you fly over Europe ? I live in Miami and would sure like to avoid an extra 6 hours to SFO / LA ? Cheers Ian
  6. Hi, Anybody know of / stayed at the Pattaya Garden Apts ? I am planning a visit and checking out various accommodations. Their website www.pattayagardenapartments.com looks really cool. Any info on guest policy, proximity to walking St etc will be highly appreciated. Cheers & thanks in advance Ian
  7. Druid, Try the Apex hotel ( www.apexhotel.cjb.net ). They seem to have room within your budget and also check out the hotel review section - Apex Hotel seems to have got good reviews. Cheers Ian
  8. Valentinox, I thought I wouldnt need to return to this thread as suggested by you but since you modified your original post to include a question, I will try to answer it to your satisfaction. Firstly let me compliment you on some of the useful information / links that you provide for us ignorant guys [smiley=thumbup.gif]. I have never said that you have not posted any good stuff. I do bother to look and read most of the posts on this forum. I only said that THIS thread has become useless. The ignore button was suggested by you in one of your posts. I did not invent it. My comme
  9. Wish there was an ignore button so we could all use it on your posts. Really dont see the meaning in this thread anymore. Ian
  10. Sabai Lodge worked pretty well for me. I was there end of May and nevr had a single problem taking a TG to the room. On the first day there was no ID check for the girl but from the second day onwards IDs were checked. Didnt take 2 tgs at a time so I wouldnt know about their policy on that but I did see a few guys walking in and out with two ladies. The rooms are large / clean and the AC works well. The rate I paid in May was 750 per day ( breakfast NOT included ) Cheers Ian
  11. SoCal, When you quote on Priceline, you will not get a list of the hotels in th area you are searching for. Its a bid that could be accepted by any of the participating hotels. You are not guarenteed a stay in a hotel of your choice. You can only select an area, the type of hotel ( eg: five star, four star etc) and the price. If you wish to choose the hotel you want to stay in you may want to check out www.Hotels.com Though it is normally bit costlier than priceline, Hotels.com allows you to select a hotel of your choice - but them again it will not let you select your price. You

  15. My job requires me to travel a lot and not wanting to carry cash, I always use my card. I spoke to a friend who is an executive at a credit card company and he gave me some good advise. Take a credit card with a small credit of $1000. Use it only to pay for stuff like Hotel, restraunts and for small shopping like groceries. Have all your travel plans made well in advance so that you dont have to buy additional tickets while you are traveling. Ive traveled to LOS 3 times now and am yet to come across a CC problem. ( or maybe somebody tried and was denied credit due to the lowbalance!!!
