  1. John, I make Udon and Pattaya my home away from home (Hawaii). I will be back in LOS in 10 days for a 4 month trial retirement and hope to get in some more golf in Udon. I play 3-4 times a week when in Pattaya but still carry a 36 handicap. I will be joining the Nigar golf club in Udon this trip and joined the PSC last trip. I only broke 100 once and that was on municipal course in Hawaii. When I can do the same thing in one of those Stableford matches PSC puts together at those championship courses in Pattaya I will finally call myself a "gofer" Hope to meet up with you soon. I arrive in LOS on 10/10 and can be contacted at 07-TAX-MUCH. Aloha.
  2. Keep me posted, I will be in Pattaya the full month of November and am looking forward to 5 days of golf per week. (recharge the old batteries on the weekend) I have a honest 36 handcap with PSC but trying to bring that down. Undortunately my recent scores of 120 & 121 are lower than my first scores of 135 and 136, but did little to reduce my handicap. Of course those guys play for blood not for fun as I usually do with my friends in Hawaii. We play Bingo, Bango, Bongo and keep a running total all year long and I am in the lead, of course the leader has to pay the most for our annual tournament so I don't think I am really winning a lot. I want to join in all the pre and post tournament games that you have a open slot and maybe I can put together a group of 3 to represent the "Kingdom of Hawaii." PS, I hope I don't have to wear a skirt for all of the non tournament matches also. See you in November. My phone starting Oct 10 in LOS is 07-TAX-MUCH.
  3. Count me in, Thai wife may fly seperately from Udon for Loy Krothong, but plenty of time to butterfly.
  4. Shirt size LG, skirt size unknown, but I will only wear official Pattaya Sportman Club skirt as they helped me finally establish a handicap for first time in my life.
  5. I confirmed last month but don't seem to be on the list. I will be there and have a roomate Bill4you who is 90% confirmed and maybe another person. We need to balance out US/Canada.
  6. If you have room for a Kamaina (local Hawaiian) it looks like something I could love to join in on although I have never tried to play golf with my pants around my ankles like some of you seem to do, but it might improve my balance hence my game. I'm 61 and preparing for retirement in Udon Thani with my paraya who understands my addiction to Pattaya and the beautiful, sensual golf courses. I will probably have her fly to Chaing Mai and join me there on the 14th. I am a discrace to my countryman as far as my handicap goes but I plan on living to 107 so I can finally shoot my age. Put me down as a player. Incidently if you fly Nok Air business class the baggage allowance is 30 kilos not 15 so we can take our clubs with us. I will be in Pattaya July 18th to the 22nd then heading to Shinookville and Koh Kong for a week (no golf in Cambo) but my Paraya will bring my clubs in van from Udon and I would love to meet up with some of you to play golf.
  7. The official Songkran holidays this year are April 13, 14, 15. Pattaya adds one of two days before and after that. Be prepared to act like a big kid in a water balloon fight, or get out of dodge because you will be fair game to all during this time.
  8. Udon Thani (population (225,000) is a wonderful town to visit or to live. The Udon map site is best to start, pick up paper copy at Steve's bar. The P4P scene is sparce but good freelance action across from shopping center. Also good place to find GTG wife or GF as it has large University in center of town. Cost of living is reasonable and a lot of expats live there. 4 or 5 9 hole golf courses, 2 18 hole ones within hour drive. I have nice stucco, tile roofed, walled yard 3 bedroom home in good complex with my Thai wife that costs me a whopping B6000 per month with a guarantee that the landlord will never raise the rent.
  9. Much Cheaper in BKK. I just returned, had same problem as you. Tried to book on line with PI agency but they wanted w pieces of Id and copies of both sides of credit card. So I passed. Cheapest fare brom BKK was about 7900 Baht, but didn't like the schedule. I paid about 8800 Baht to Fly Thai airlines. ( I do prefer Thai Air when possible). Turns out to have been a great decision as they have a drawing on all international flights and I won a free RT ticket to go back. I probably never would go back but for that. My next adventure is Cambodia in January. [smiley=cheers.gif] Any body else want to hook up and join me?
  10. I'll never take travellers checks again. Went into Bangkok Bank to change $1000 in TC, signed them ($100) denominations in front of teller. Well my signature didn't match good enough. It took 1/2 hour with managers, phone calls to Main office. I had 10 credit cards with variations of my signature, my drivers license an passport but to no avail. Thank God for ATM's.
  11. Jontiem is a little bit off the betten path for the Bhat bus, but still on the line. Might have to take 2 buses from Pattaya proper B10 for one and B50 for other. Best way to take 12 yr old and wife, she must watch 12 yo while you go shopping or into Pattaya for massage etc.
