  1. I haven't used BIDC before, but I am planning to use them on my next trip to BKK. They specialize in cosmetic dentistry and have an excellent reputation. There are plenty of positive testimonials to be found on the internet. One other advantage is that they don't practice double pricing for foreigners. As an alternative, I would also consider using Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic (Sukhumvit 21), Dental Hospital (Sukhumvit 49) or Asavanant (Sukhumvit 55) That's not true - very few dental clinics have their own dental lab. If you need a crown or bridge and your time is limited, then it's a massive advantage to go to a clinic with its own dental lab. The turnaround time is much quicker and any adjustments can be made instantly or at short notice. Bumrungrad doesn't (or certainly didn't used to) have it's own dental lab. They need about 2 weeks to get a bridge or crown made up as the molds have to be sent out to an external lab. In comparison, BIDC, Thantakit and such places can get the job done within 3 days.
  2. Yes, the Ruamchitt Travelodge is guest friendly.
  3. You could try the Ruamchitt Travelodge on Sukhumvit Soi 10 - good quiet location and decent accommodation for around 1,000Bt / Night.
  4. Torrenova - I think you might be referring to the place that is half way to Jomtiem. The contact details are:- German Dental Co Ltd (Lab Technology International Co Ltd) Thappraya Rd, Soi-9, gdental@loxinfo.co.th 038-251289 038-251232 (Michael Schlatter)
  5. Informative post that Gary - I suspect these details are not widely known.
  6. The law hasn't changed. The only difference is that the existing regulations are now being enforced. This sort of crackdown was always going to happen. At the moment it's only new land purchases that are being targeted, but it's only a matter of time before it becomes retrospective and existing 'shell' companies start to be scrutinized.
  7. I have stayed there, but it was quite a few years ago so it might have changed a lot. It is budget priced accommodation, so don't expect anything fancy. The rooms are clean but basic - no TV, no fridge and single beds. I would say it more suited to backpackers and families on budget. On the plus side, it is in a good location. Personally, I wouldn't consider staying in a place without those amenities. I think you would be better off paying a bit more and staying in the Top North Hotel.
  8. 'I don't think you really need to arrange in advance. For a city its size there are numerous good hotels from 500-1500THB' I would have thought the same, but my experiences have proved otherwise. The 2nd time I went there I had real difficulty finding anywhere that wasn't full. Must have called around 15 hotels. In the end managed to find a fan only room in the Roma - and grateful to get that. I think there may have been some sort of conference going on at that time. Arriving late at night didn't help either. If I were to go back I wouldn't take the risk, but that's just my take on things. Everything up 2 you.
  9. I assume your not looking for a top end hotel like the Sofitel as you mention guesthouse in the title. If your looking for something cheaper you could try the Sawasdee(500Bt) or Chaipat (400Bt). Both are clean & in good locations. One other thing, book a room in advance - I forgot to do it and had difficulty finding a room.
  10. The Honey is a good choice. Friendly staff, easy walking distance for Soi Cowboy, Nana, Thermae etc & close to Asoke BTS station. Also very quiet - no problems with road noise etc. No bullshit joiner fees either. I think the 800Bt rooms don't have a fridge. If you need a fridge you will probably need to upgrade to a 900bt room. Breakfast is included in the price - they will give you a coupon each day.
