Seriously f*cked up situation. The guy spoke at the Livestrong dinner last night as though nothing happened. He's told the story for so long he doesn't even realize how much he's let people down. More than a few donors made statements about getting their money back. I don't think any would sue to get it, but they're making the point the cash was solicited under false pretenses. He pushed through asking for continued donations. He stepped down recently. Now, he should walk away. He's forever tainted as a fraud and a cheat. I don't see how he can ever recover his reputation. This isn't like Michael Vick who committed a crime, got released after he served his sentence and went back to work. This guy made all his money and won all his championships under the influence of banned PEDs. It was those "accomplishments" that made his story so great and led to all those donations to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, now known as Livestrong.

I had been but no longer. I thought the negative tests meant something. (No bashers please.) With many others having been found with banned substances in their system I felt the lab's tests were a good indicator of who doped and who did not. A scheme this elaborate I did not envision. I don't know how anyone could defend L.A. at this point. The entire sport has been diminished and it will take a while to recover. It's an awful turn of events, as sporting events like the TDF are chock full of drama and excitement without all this cheating.

If I were Lance I would have thrown in the towel after all legal options were played. The guilty verdict was more likely in this case than a murder trial in China. L. A. never tested positive, but convicted dopers say he did it. It's like trusting incarcerated hitmen in a Mafia trial.
