  1. Ha ha. The look on the Boers face when the rocket went after the truck. Funny shit!~
  2. Mate, I know it's a fair didtance from the places you've mentioned, (all around Pattaya itself), but have you considered Koh Chang? A 30 min ferry trip from the mainland adjacent to Trat. Great beaches, DSL internet and a really friendly ambience. ... just a thought
  3. The golden rule for police interviews and conversations with wives: Silence is golden!
  4. Honestly, I must have got a dud then. I have stayed in the standard rooms heaps of times - and this 'suite' was exactly the same dimensions, with the same furniture ... except for the mirror. I had booked a standard room, and it was only as I was checking out, that I found I apparently had a suite, (for an extra 200baht per night). In hindsight I should have queried it at that point. Mae pen rae (sic)
  5. Was at Ma Maison for a week last month - just down from Sandy Spring. There is still 1 construction site further up the Soi on the other side, but the noisy shit seems to be done. Didn't hear a peep of noise while I was there.
  6. I've stayed there heaps of times, and used to tout it a bit on the boards. I was there in Feb and have to say it has slipped in value a bit. Still a great location, and great staff. I was charged 1100baht for a 'suite', which was a standard room with a mirror glued onto the ceiling.
  7. Just flew them from Bkk to P'Penh and return. Total fare was 3300baht. For a discount airline, they are excellent. No seat allocation, but for a 65 min flight - who cares?! Also, a remote gate at Bkk, but again for the price, I'd recommend them.
  8. Good on ya Mr Toom. yes 1200baht inc tolls is a good price. I will certainly keep you in mind on my next transfer to Pattaya. Lemons
  9. hey toom, I realise english isn't your first language, and the west isn't your culture, but just a thought ... Your customers ARE western. Getting those customers to jump through hoops, (expecting them to do the work themselves), to learn some basic information about your business, will not work with farangs. Last time I looked there was no shortage of willing drivers inside and outside of the airport arrivals hall - all screaming for business. You are but one of those many competitors. Put in the effort yourself, provide basic information here, and make your service worth booking.
  10. Thanks rolyshark. If its inclusive of tolls, it's the cheapest around!
  11. Welcome my friend. Your first ever post and happily spruiking your business I see. We have had a bit of a history here of 'recommended' car drivers who sadly were unreliable for one reason or another. Ok, so please give over a few details: 1200baht + tolls I presume? Make model & year of car Experience of driver(s) Full commercial vehicle insurance? (to compensate your passengers in the event of injury, or loss of belongings) All the best to you, Lemons
  12. Mate, that sounds pretty good to me. About the best I ever do these days for Bne - Bkk is $1000.00 inc taxes. With the fuel prices the way they are, I reckon airfares wont go down, and may spike up. I guess you know April May is fucking hot in SE Asia?
  13. Singapore Airlines has this warning up on their site. When asked they also said that there were no knock on delays in SE Asia or Australia. Given that some of their flights only stopover for 2 hrs in S/apore enroute to OZ, I'd take this assurance with a grain of salt! Update on flights departing from London Heathrow Airport to Singapore 11 January 2006 Given ongoing fuel rationing being enforced at London Heathrow Airport following the explosion and fire at Buncefield Fuel Storage facility on 11 December 2005, Singapore Airlines flights from London Heathrow to Singapore are curre
  14. I've used them for a bout 2 years. Had some pretty ripe pics on there at times. Never had a problem with them.
  15. I'd have to say that a FF program with a good carrier is a great bonus. I've had one return trip from Australia to LOS with Singapore Airlines on the bonus points. Only paid for the taxes. Fuck it was a great feeling climbing out - on someone elses nickel! But these discount cariers, like Valueair, have no place hawking 'loyalty programs' when their price points make it almost inevitable that the schemes will fall over. There will always be vunerable people sucked in and ripped off.
  16. billrussell, That's a newie on me! Still I suppose that's nothing different from recovering a pc's HDD. Perhaps if you reformatted the drives - that'd wipe em clean?
  17. kikc69, It's a sound plan. You'll find that as long as the PC your at is using Windows XP you wont need to d/load any drivers etc. A 1 gig flash drive will hold heaps of pics, especially if you set your camera up to format them at say 600x800 size, or 1 under the 'best' resolution. Please note 1 item of concern: If you are taking explicit pics, be aware that customs on your return can seize and open any storage drives you have, including flash drives. (They are well aware of camera cards, zip drives, flash drives etc etc) A 3rd option is a bit fiddlier but overcomes this. Sign
  18. Totally agree about the selfishness of involving innocent bystanders. AND I continue to wonder about the types who want to take a few out before doing the deed. Are there any things at the range to prevent someone shooting a few people first?
  19. I've always found the Boeing 777 the best aircraft for economy passengers. Pretty hard to beat, and noticibly better than the Airbus models I've been in. Having said that, I understand the new airbus will be something special.
  20. Sailfast, Yeah perhaps that was a bit of a generalisation on my part. I was just picturing this article being read by a couple of my US friends and them basically saying; WTF is this guy on about? Wasn't a swipe at American humor or mindset. BTW I'm not surprised to see it wasn't penned by J Cleese. Doesn't he now live in California with American wife no 2? (4th overall wife!)
  21. I dig Americans and have lots of yank friends ...... but they simply wont get this.
  22. wannabeexpat, Condo Fees: Vary greatly dependant on the quality of the building, quality of management and the facilities; ie: lifts, pool, tennis court, size of gorunds etc etc. I'd suggest you PM one of the boardies with a condo to get a guide; eg: Gabor, Hilly Ownership: Under Thai law, 51% of any condo must be Thai owned. While your neighbours may be farangs, some will be tenants. Fire Safety: It's Thailand so it varies widely. Also depends on when the building was constructed. I've seen everything from world class to death traps. This bloke: Carl Patfield is an ex fire fighte
  23. Far as I know he is. Last trip out of about 6 visits I only actually saw him once. (the locals call him 'the ghost').
  24. hey thanks for the lead Gus. I found a link to this airline: http://www.sga.aero/en/destination.html It also says they fly to Sihanoukville which interests me greatly. Cheers Lemons
