  1. I see now the Sabai Inn has a banner in front of the hotel advertising rates of 700 baht per night. In the high season these same rooms were over 1,000 baht per night and I think that this is one of the best hotel deals in town at the moment.
  2. I went to Angeles City to escape Songkran and I think that I ran into half of Pattaya that had the same idea. Last year they had a huge banner at one of the local watering holes that said, "Welcome Songkran Refugees" but I didn't see anything like that this year. I always have a good time in AC and enjoy getting out of the daily routine of life in Pattaya but I couldn't live there. For me Pattaya has many advantages over the Philippines especially when it comes to things to do during the day.

For sure, Mininova removed all copyright material several months ago, Pirate Bay is still going strong despite all of its legal woes but I have noticed that it's tracker has been down for many months, IMO it still has the largest selection of good torrents to download.
  4. I couple of years ago I stayed in the Lotus Villas right off Monivong close to Mittapheap Travel. I highly recommend them but they weren't cheap by Pattaya standards.
  5. I've been living in Pattaya ten years now and love it. You have many of the western amenities that most of us expect and enjoy as well as most of the advantages of living in Thailand. I think that deciding to retire and live in Pattaya was one of my better decisions for sure.
  6. I would opt for a 42" LCD or LED and stay away from the plasma. I think that plasma flat screens are going the way of the rear projection sets of a few years back, the LCD and LED have a better picture, last longer, and run a lot cooler. I prefer the Samsungs but any of the new ones are great and I know that you will enjoy it.
  7. I used to fly China Air regularly when they had their Bangkok-Houston route and never had a problem. The business class seats are the same as most other airlines, they aren't the ones that lay completely flat with the enclosures but I don't like those anyway. Also I prefer to sit in the upper cabin so I prefer a 747 biz class over a 777 or A340. Service was always great and the biz lounge in Taipei is a good one with a small restaurant, showers, etc. I would fly them again without hesitation, I still miss their Bangkok-Houston route.
  8. Sure, you can rent from many people and pay more for less. I don't mind paying a little extra for a superior condo and good service.
  9. I forgot the amount that I paid but I thought that it was very reasonable. VT6 is a brand new condo in a great location, if I had wanted something cheap I would have probably stayed at the Day and Night .
  10. Although I own my condo, I've rented condos for short periods of time from Dancewatcher and everything was handled in a very professional manner, something that you don't find here in Pattaya with every real estate agent . Great service and the condos were in excellent condition. The ones that I rented were all in View Talay Six so that's the ones that I have experience with.
  11. China Air used to have a route from Bangkok to Houston via Seattle and I flew business class with them many times. Service was always good and their planes were 747's which I prefer over the 777's for biz class. The biz lounge in Taipei is very good also since this is their main hub. I say go for it, I don't think that you will be disappointed. Now that China Air has discontinued their flight to Houston I usually take Korean, the service is just as good but the tickets are about $1,000 more
  12. I stopped by the Roof Garden Inn the other day to check for a friend and they said that they still didn't have the broadband Internet, they were waiting for a phone line.
