  1. Are you showing the early kick-off (Man U v Blackburn @ 19:45) tonight?
  2. The actual quote is somewhat different from that reported here .... For the sake of accuracy, what was written, was; "On the other hand, the US State Department has ranked Thailand as the world's second most dangerous country (after Honduras) in terms of the number of road fatalities suffered by American tourists". That's quite different from being the claimed "2nd worst country in the world for road deaths". Source ...
  3. A report prompted by the deaths of 3 Brit backpackers earlier this year.
  4. Yep, it's a 02:45 on the 31st start time in Thailand.
  5. I think he meant that Etihad is conducting operations from there on a temporary basis. They will eventually move to the new terminal currently under construction.
  6. Most of the main travel agents are asking around 440/450 quid for the same flights. Who is Adrian in London? A website address (with secure payment facilities and details of ATOL registration etc), would be preferred over what appears to be nothing more than a private email address. Additionally, Oman, Sri Lankan and Emirates can all be had for less than 500 quid for the same dates.
  7. Probably not. It still tastes like shite. The only stuff from ThaiBev that I drink nowadays is the soda water - or, at least the stuff with a yellow cap.
  8. Looks like the export version - different label and red cap compared to the local version. http://www.thaibev.com/en08/product.aspx?sublv1gID=12
  9. You might want to look at the options offered by MBE. I've saved a few quid over the years by using the services they offer. http://www.mbethai.com/mbe_network_chonburi.asp
  10. Maybe not entirely brain dead, but confused by the lack of an "Immigrant" visa to support your claim of being a "Thailand resident".
  11. Is Thai Smile not taking over the route from Thai around July 2012?
  12. Thanks for that. Firstly, just for clarification, the Glenmorangie currently sold in Tesco Lotus in Thailand is "The original" - i.e. 10 year-old, hence my question as there are several versions of 12 year-old Glemmorangie (none of which are known as "the standard"). The 10 Year-old can be bought for 20 quid in Tesco UK, or 1650 Baht in Tesco Lotus. I believe Glenlivet is the other single malt in Tesco Lotus, currently retailing at 1999 Baht but is also available for 20 quid in Tesco UK. Secondly, to address your IOM nonsense. Tesco stores in the IOM are owned and operated by Tesco Stores Limited, registered in England - there are no such companies as Tesco's I.O.M. Ltd. or Tesco's U.K. Ltd. Tesco Stores Limited operations in IOM are registered as a foreign company - hence the F at the end of the registration number.
  13. So, what has Santika got to do with getting from A to B in Bangkok?
  14. Yeah, but at least you could ask Siri where to buy a cheap tablet.
  15. Gus, Try Distil at Lebua State Tower - not only do they have the whiskies, they have a choice of Scottish water.
  16. What has Santika got to do with getting from A to B?
  17. I didn't say "the UK", I said "Tesco's UK" (who own and operate the store in Douglas - as opposed to Tesco Lotus who own and operate stores in Thailand). Having clarified that point, the question was "Which 12 year-old Glenmorangie ...?"
  18. Apparently, the application developers think otherwise.
  19. At least in BKK, you can actually get from A to B before, during and after the celebrations without too much hassle.
  20. Which 12 year-old Glenmorangie are you getting in Tesco's UK (or any other supermarket) for 22 quid?
  21. No good. Apparently, Thai Airways has been taken over by the Pattaya Songthaew Cooperative and now they just wait until they are full.
  22. The online check-in facility is available 24 hours prior to departure (I think). How are you going to prevent anyone choosing the seat next to you in the intervening (20 hour) period?
  23. Phone them up and get your seat allocated beforehand.
  24. I've got to agree with jacko. I went to BigC Extra and couldn't find any normal clogs, no matter clever ones, on the shelves. Same, same at the BBQ section, lots of butane gas, but no sign of the venting stuff. It must all be getting sent to Pattani, I guess.
  25. I don't think that's the case at all - or, at least, not for the UK v Thailand. Two of the most popular imported spirits JWB and Chivas can both be had for around GBP20.00 (THB960) in UK for 70cl bottles. The same brands/sizes here in Thailand are generally just under THB 1,000. For overall availability in Thailand (BigC, Tesco, 7-11), I reckon it's slightly cheaper for spirits in LOS.
