  1. Exactly the same point that you made in Post No 8 about Black Caviar. Today, Frankel is the highest rated racehorse in the world, and by a fair degree. No ifs and buts about it. That doesn't mean to say he won't come a cropper on Saturday. The sub-title of the thread is the World's Greatest Racehorse - this week, that happens to be Frankel.
  2. It probably reflects the quality of the opposition. After all, that's how they work out the ratings. To go back to Post Number 8, it was said, "Your right that well never really know who the best in the world really was but bookmakers and professional punters all over the world use ratings, and the highest rated in the world today is Black Caviar (So you think is another good Aussie horse is 4th)" Nothing much has changed, except that today another horse is rated No 1.
  3. She's rated 5 lbs behind Frankel.
  4. The lack of rain doesn't mean there won't be flooding. The problem, this week at least, is what the Thais call wild water - water flowing from other areas to settle in the lowest lying area. That's what happened in Had Yai last year - the rain had stopped for 2 days before the serious flooding arrived. Nice, clean rainwater isn't such a big problem, the horrible brown crap that wild water brings is.
  5. That would make sense. I was fortunate enough to get invited to the SabaiDee staff party 7 or 8 years ago and that took place in early June in the Kamm Pann.
  6. That's why the OP called them bum condoms. I think.
  7. Thanks for putting in the time and effort. I have mixed feelings about the developments on Soi 2. I had some great times in the bars there but it would be fair to say that they've really been in decline for more than 5 years now. I read somewhere else that the Kamm Pann country pub next to the Sabai Inn was finished. Anyone know if that's true?
  8. Comes in useful for setting at volleyball. Apparently.
  9. The World's Highest Ranked racehorse should be running again this weekend.
  10. Oh yes, the side-effects of too much milk ... More of the milk side-effects ...
  11. The same applies to many AirAsia --> AirAsiaX connecting flights e.g. BKK-KUL-LON. However, I was referring specifically to BKK and since no regular airline currently serves the BKK-CRK route you're going to be going through immigration irrespective of the carrier.
  12. I'm impressed by your TGF's English skills. As for Yingluck, I think that she said the next two weeks could be a bit of a bastard if you live in BKK. Or maybe not.
  13. I'm sure you can get Buakaw to show you the right moves ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8K3WkPjW28&NR=1
  14. You could do worse than starting at Fairtex and taking things from there. Prices are at the bottom of the link page. Fairtex Training
  15. In some places even the 7-11s have had to close.
  16. Agreed. The New Year period is a 4-5 day holiday for most Bangkok folk and, as in previous years, there will be loads of hotel bargains available. Central World Plaza is the place to be for the countdown.
  17. ... and told us in advance that's exactly what he was going to do ...(ish). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhsWzJo2sN4
  18. Don't worry about me, mate - my pied-à-terre in Had Yai is on the 27th floor. Somebody gave the juristic person people a load of cash after last year's flood so that we could be better prepared next time round. They bought two jet-skis.
  19. You should be asking why someone in BKK is paying over 4k Baht more than the official price. I don't know where the fake goods bit comes in ... simply buy the thing at an official reseller such as iBeat.
  20. Agreed. Way too young. RIP
  21. For some areas of Thailand, Oct-Jan is the rainy season. That said, the "dry" season wasn't particularly dry, so maybe the rainy season won't be particularly wet.
  22. Yep! It happened to Scotland at the weekend.
  23. That's totally at odds with my experience. I live in a university area and am surrounded by thousands of uni students. I would estimate that those with half-decent English-speaking skills as being less than 20% of the student population, those with decent writing skills as way less than 10%. If you go to BKK and sit outside the likes of Mahidol, Thammasat or Chula the numbers will increase dramatically but that reflects the make -up of their undergraduates as well as the degrees that they typically offer. Just like the bargirls, and as you pointed out, their fluency in the language increases dramatically when they have the opportunity to practice their skills in real-life situations. That said, as long as they continue to wear the uniforms, whether or not they speak English isn't really an issue for me.
  24. 46-56 C and H and 61-68 C and H.
  25. I must have been dreaming when Dean Richards copped his ban for his role in Bloodgate.
