  1. No it does not run 24hr room service. In fact, the quality of the food is one of the lows concerning the RG. Room service until perhaps 9/10pm ? But really, it does not make a big difference. You are not there at night and really the only time I missed decent room service was during the day, when hanging around the pool. There is a cafe (decent) just next door and an internet place. At night, you can bring some food with you or buy ingredients and have your girl cook you something up on the stove.
  2. Some up around Soi Buakaow are in the Bt300 range or thereabouts per day. Cherry Lodge up the alley from P72 on Walking Street is Bt2.5k per month but no aircon.
  3. Roland, Yeah, just dreaming. Dreaming that on 16th I'll be dreaming that I'm on a plane, dreaming that I'll land in LOS on 17th. Shit, I think I am dreaming now. Lazyboy, I don't see what the bar's profitability has to do with the price of hotel rooms etc. Bt 10k is the going rate. Nevermind though, you pay what you want and I'll do the same.
  4. Shaul, got your PM. I'll update when I know where I am staying.
  5. Roland, I can't think of anything better than to just advise "engage brain before opening mouth" or in this instance, "before typing away". So I can walk to Walking Street in the 5 seconds it takes me to type a sentence. Grow up. Emil, I will do some legwork next week but as I am sure you are aware, there are hundreds of places and no-one will know everywhere. I would never have found the one BigD knows about so just asking sort of proves my point. BigD and KC, thanks for the rational response.
  6. Guys, I'm probably leaving Bangkok on 20th June for Pattaya. My regular driver is the brother of one of the Morning Night (Suk Soi 4 - Nana) mamasans so I'll be getting the car from him. Likely having a few beers before setting off so it won't be that early, probably mid afternoon I suspect. This could all change of course but if anyone wants to share, let me know.
  7. Cheers for that BigD. Unfortunately, I really want / need to be near Walking Street. Travelling back and forth to Soi 1 would be just a little too painful. Good price though.
  8. Guys, My busineSs partner and I are looking to perhaps move from the hotel we currently live in. Currently paying Bt10k per month per room all inclusive. Daily linen change, cleaning , air con, water, electric, everything. We would need somewhere near the gates to Walking Street at around the same rate (or less !!!). I haven't done any legwork myself on this one but will next week when I get back but if any of you guys know of anywhere, please let me know.
  9. I had a suite last year and stayed one day before going back to the RG (I was looking for a more central location). Far too much construction then too. That probably rules the Dynasty out as well, as if the hot tub for a pool didn't anyway.
  10. Why do you think they would be high maintenance ? It just looks like he gets his staff (if it is his bar) to dress in a certain way and apply similar warpaint. They are just selling the same thing in a beer bar there as in Pattaya.
  11. No problem BigD, she's hooked some Brit named Adrian and gotten him to marry her. His problem now. Still might have shagged it though.
  12. Tom, that looks a serious contender for a mid Suk hotel in Bangkok, especially at an average of Bt1125 with the 4 for 3 offer. Pity no pool though.
  13. Excess baggage charges are a complete rip off. Some fat fucker (120 kg) check in his 20kg luggage ok and then some 70kg guys gets charged for having 35kg. Fair when the fat fuckers pay more and are restricted to special seats.
  14. In the immediate vacinty of Walking Street you have the Penthouse in Pattayaland, the Welcome Plaza just up from 2nd Road and a few other on is it Soi Bamboo where the baht buses turn up at the beginning of Walking Street. Then you've got the Sandy Springs and the Dynasty on Soi 13, then the Flippers and Eastiny on Soi 8 If you really want to be at that end of town, I'd go for the Welcome Plaza http://www.welcome.co.th/wplaza.htm and go for a junior suite at Bt850 all in. If you don't like it, have a look around after a day or so.
  15. KhaoBoy, And those tits are definitely from Bangkok and not from mama !!!!!!!!
  16. JW Marriott from departures upstairs for around Bt170 plus tolls. Easy.
  17. The main action is in Pattaya but Soi 2 is almost as far from Walking Street as Jomtien is so it really depends upon what you want. I'd suggest somewhere from the Welcome Plaza (near Walking Street) through to those advised above around Soi 13 down to Soi 8. I wouldn't really head further away on a first trip. Then think about the type of hotel, your budget and the facilities you want.
  18. Here you are: http://www.thaiconsul-uk.com/Tvisas.htm TOURIST VISA FEES: Single = £25.00 Double = £45.00 Triple = £60.00 Quadruple = £70.00
  19. I reckon most are safe and that the vast majority of "problems" with things going missing is purely down to the booze and / or their TG of the day being a little light fingered. Electronic the way to go I think but the story about the RG is a little worrying especially if heading for the airport. Having to carry a fucking key around all day and night is a pain in the arse.
  20. I looked at it as a potential for guys who drop in the bar or ask to book them rooms somewhere. The rooms were small but as quite new (looked last year), they were clean and in good condition. The pool is a joke - just a big jacuzzi. The money was around Bt1000. I don't think it is good or bad. New and clean but small with no pool. If building in that location then crap. Last year therre was and the Sandy Spring had the same problem. As someone said, the transfer is free if booked in Pattaya. It does not however save a taxi fee of Bt1500 as you don't go alone in a taxi. A minibus t
  21. Sure, its as safe then as anytime. Problem is if you don't know Pattaya and the driver doesn't, how are you going to find where you want. Do a search for a post by Hilly with reference to Thai Limo (pattaya branch) and they'll do bt1500. Also, as they are in Pattaya, they'll know where you want to go.
  22. Yes, that was a write off, or should have been, but that would have put a blemish on Qantas's record of never having a total loss. So they spent millions to repair it.
  23. Big Brian, The Residence Garden would fit apart from the location. I love the hotel but, if like me, you want to change clothes during the day or drop some stuff off back in your room, then having to go back to the RG via baht bus can be a pain in the arse. Last year the RG would do a monthly rate of Bt30,000 (so effectively Bt1000 per day) but they do load the rate over Xmas and I know Ib has some of his friends over from Scandi land. The Sandy is another but I found it a bit noisy and the staff were shit. Even the suites didn't rock my boat. If you like the location, try the
  24. Near Walking Street, the Welcome Plaza. Sandy Spring is on soi 13, Flippers and Eastiny in sois 7&8. Really depends upon where you want to be. Soi 2 is a long way from Walking Street if thats where you spend your time.
