  1. The reality is that I have more of a life than to spend endless hours plugging away at this website. General amusement it is, a way of life it certainly is not.
  2. I think a lot of guys arriving will see the "double whammy" effect of price rises this year end. Due to SARS and Gulf War 2, many hotels (and bars) had really bad times this summer. I know as I was there for quite a lot of it and they could hardly give rooms away. So, this year, the'll not only increase for the seasonal influx of visitors but also perhaps look to recoup some of the losses from earlier in the year. How these prices are adjusted downards next year will be interesting.
  3. Judging from what I have seen of the UK in the couple of months I have been back here after years away, I feel that the the British Isles would easily qualify for assistance from the developed world. Given that nothing works properly, it is dirty, trains fall off the tracks, it pisses down for weeks but still there is a water shortage, etc., then I am sure it would qualify. Of course, my experiences relate only to London, but then London is all that really matters financially anyway.
  4. I have previously posted various info on Krabi including hotels (although not reviews I admit). I presume that you can search through posts. Anyway, as in generous mood: I think Ao Nang is better than Krabi town. Don't stay too far west (i.e in the direction of Krabi Resort or Ao Nang Pakasi) as its a hike and badly lit at night. The main area is on the beach front and up the hill to as the road heads eastward away from the beach. Best value and quality seafood is on the front at the first restaurant in the collective at the west end of the beach. From the beach, you can also get longt
  5. The words pot, kettle and black spring to mind. Anyway, I'm not a merchant banker, I'm an investment banker.
  6. "Torrenova/Valentinoxxxxxxxx Have you been a prick all your 22 years or so or is just on wednesdays ?" Hey Crackedpot, You purport to be english but cannot differenciate between the singular "a" and the plural Torrenova and Valentinox. It has been long established that we are not one and the same. To answer your question, I have had my prick longer than 22 years, including each and every Wednesday. Crackedpot / Roland, You two twits should get together. The lazy Eddie doesn't do his own research to give him a baseline against which to judge any positive or negative res
  7. I find that hard to believe. Not doubting what you post, but rather the information you were given. I've stayed there and no problem. Again, if you can walk the walk........ but seriously, I don't know where they find these people who pay "extras". Even if something was mentioned, I am sure that a few works would resolve matters. 5* hotels are not in the habit of fucking off their guests.
  8. I've never got any sense out of the daft fuckers in the management team despite numerous emails. I think it trades upon its reputation a little but given the shit numbers it could attract this summer, you would think it would sort itself out and get on the ball.
  9. Lazy fucker. It took me all of 2 seconds to put "sanya apartments pattaya" into google to come up with http://www.nycomb.com/location.htm and others
  10. Have a look in the hotel section, it has reviews too ! Try a search engine, i.e. help us to help you by doing some work yourself.
  11. You can get to Kowloon or Hong Kong island in about half an hour on the train. The cost is about HKD 180 return. As you have about 5 hours and will have only hand luggage, this might be a viable alternative. Sure you can eat in the airport quite well but if you have never been to the area, you could have a couple of hours for sure. Maybe get off at Tsim Sha Tsui, have a look around, walk back across near the Peninsular hoitel, get the 5 Star ferry across to HK island and head back towards the airport from say Hong Kong station. Of course, get some food on the way.
  12. Have you heard about google ? or any other search engine ? C'mon, do a little legwork yourself. http://www.pattaya-hotelrooms.com/JomtienBoathouse/
  13. I've personally never used them but a close friend did only a month or so ago for an hotel in bangkok and that was fine. Breakfast included for 2 people. From what I can see, and from research done previously, I would have no problems using them. They have just not had the best deals for what I was after.
  14. No contest. Qantas direct, emirates means fucking about in the middle east.
  15. I don't want to upset your apple cart but maybe you should read the previous posts in the thread and do some of your own research first, before jumping in with questions which have already been answered. Not really picking on you Lookn4Domi but it seems more and more newbies don't bother.
  16. I always stay at the JW Marriott in Bangkok if not in company. I've never had any problems, whether one girl or multiples. Even in the week before APEC, with heightened security including installing an airport style metal detector at the entrance (other doors locked and guarded), there was never so much as a mention. In Pattaya, I have heard stories about the Marriott giving guests grief. My feeling is that they would not, partiucularly if you know how to deal with 4*/5* hotel people. In such hotels, you book the room, you don't pay "each". However, I don't consider it to be good value in
  17. The Marriott will be OK. Just act like you belong and grab a couple of towels from the towel bin. By the way, the beer there is expensive (Bt150 plus 17.7% tax) but in the height of the summer sun, getting an almost frozen heineken in a frosted glass straight from the freezer is one of nature's delights. Its damn quiet too so a great place to chill out away from the shit. Just walk straight through the entrance, through the hotel and out the other side to the pool.
  18. Asking priceline for 5* in Sukhumvit will yield one of: The JW Marriott, the Westin Grande Sukhumvit (WGS) or the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit (SGS). The SGS is often rated above the JW and the rack rate is higher. The WGS has receontly been refurbished (2nd/3rd qtr 2003). Whilst the hotel you get is variable, recent successes have given the JW over the last couple of months. Bidding in the UK or USA has problems that you cannot immediately rebid if refused. Bidding in Singapre or Hong Kong alleviates that problem. One consideration though is that all hotels run promotions, partic
  19. Keep the bog lid closed ? A lot of Thai girls "see" things. I wouldn't want to see a fucking rat in the bedroom or anywhere else for that matter. On a seperate note MH, what did you get for your USD40 (Bt1600) room ? I've emailed before to get them to explain in clear english what you actually get for the different prices but the lazy cunts haven't bothered to reply.
  20. The RG showers CAN just about accommodate 2 but not in any degree of comfort. They are in the corner of the room with a shower curtain at a diagonal.
  21. I came in from Hong Kong in June which was at the height of the SARS epidemic and I believe that to quell tourists' worries about SARS in LOS, the government was promising Bt2,000,000 to a Thai national who died from SARS and Bt4,00,000 to a non Thai who died. I don't think anyone contracted the disease, or at least died from it, but I was stopped and checked (as was everyone) by 2 doctors in Hong Kong and about 3 in the airport in Bangkok.
  22. Don't know about Areca Lodge but the Sandy did try and get me to pay in advance. We sorted that out (not paying in advance) but I was not satisifed with the noise (Mid October) so left after one night. 24hr reception but had a few "hangers on" loitering around the reception area.
  23. Why would you get burned with a confirmed reservation ? Perhaps some hotels know about characters using tricks such as yours and therefore deliberately overbook ? I don't know, I don't get burned. Also, thinking about it, why would you book an hotel before doing any research ? C'mon, play fair. Tilacno1 was correct regarding the hotels telling people they are full when in fact, they have only the word of some farang.
  24. Just remember that playing this sort of game, holding multiple reservations and then cancelling one at the last minute is why hotels get pissed off and start putting up prices, demanding deposits and even asking you to pay upfront for your stay. Do the honourable thing and tell one of them ASAP. If you don't like it, move on.
