cknbud... I have been working and living in Ban Chang for a little over a year and I love it! I rent a 2 bedroom townhouse and Honda Accord (from the same people) for 22,000 baht per month. There are many cheaper places to rent if you look around. I like to play golf and go to BKK so, for me, a car is a must. The only thing I miss is not having a grocery store nearby. They built a new Tesco in Sattahip but it caters more to Thais (which is understandable) so a bi-weekly trip to Pattaya is warranted. In my opinion, Rayong is a little too far away (from Pattaya, Bangkok, etc

Just because all the responses were not positive is not a bad thing. You asked a question and people 'shared information' and gave you their honest reply. Why should they sugar coat their answer and say "maybe their is a chance you could find a caddie that wants to give you a BJ" when they have never experienced it themself or heard of it happening to someone else? Just my opinion..... Personally, I hope you find what you're looking for. Good luck and have a great trip!! Cheers........gp

Any good deals to be had ?
gp2002 replied to 007cableguy's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
Take a look at this site....click on "current golf price schedule" www.pattayasports.org/golf/Golf%20Home.htm Hope this helps... Cheers....gp -
Definitely available.......you're usually looking in the 30,000 to 50,000 baht range. As rabbit said, you always have to pay for a caddie. Some of the courses have websites and e-mail addresses. Check www.thaigolfer.com Hope this helps.... Cheers......gp

A BJ at the turn?!?!? I know this is Thailand but don't you think this is a little over the top??? Not all the girls in Thailand are bar girls, you know. Yes it's possible to hook up with the odd caddie away from the course. I have met a couple girls that are willing. As for on the course, I highly doubt it. If you do find someone that will fulfill your fantasy, let me know. Good luck! Cheers.....gp

Hub is right about the knock offs......as for the greater knowledge, I am not sure You can usually tell by the price. If it is SO cheap for a name brand, it's probably a fake. Sometimes, just set the club down, especially putters, and you can tell right away. I have even had the salesperson tell me it was a fake (when I asked). Good luck Cheers....gp

You got my answer already for part #2.... Good luck Cheers.....gp

There's a great place in Bangkok called Thaniya Plaza. It's on Silom Road and has 4 or 5 floors of nothing but golf equipment. There are some good deals to be had if you look around. I also bought a Nike CPR Hybrid club from Supersports (part of BIG C). Hope this helps... Cheers.....gp

Golfing All Year Round?
gp2002 replied to jack_daniels's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
Hi Jack.... I would definitely bring your clubs. There hasn't been alot of rain and the courses are in great shape!! Also, during those three months the green fees are CHEAP. Check out the Pattaya Sports Club as well. They have a monthly golf schedule for all the bars. Hope this helps. Cheers.....gp -
Airline baggage allowance re golf clubs
gp2002 replied to stoace's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
When I lived in Korea and travelled here on Thai I always brought my clubs and never had any problems. I only brought ONE golf travel bag and put all my clothes, etc inside. It always seemed VERY heavy but they never said anything to me. I don't think you'll have any problems, especially if it's just your clubs in the travel bag. Cheers......gp -

Classroom Charity Tournament
gp2002 replied to gp2002's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
FYI (for next year)... Just to let you know I played in the Classroom Tourney and had a great time. I joined up with Moby69 and a couple of his buddies from the UK. It was a great afternoon and the price was well worth it........considering I ended up winning the "A" flight ( and received a Taylor Made golf bag).....haha!!! I hope to defend the title next year!!! Cheers......gp PS......Thanks again Moby!!! -
Mister C..... A company called Thai-ger golf does golf packages. When I was in their store to get a club repaired, a group of tourists were in there getting their itineraries. Do a search and you should find their website. Cheers.....gp

Classroom Charity Tournament
gp2002 replied to gp2002's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
Thanks for the replies..... It looks like I will give it a shot. I haven't played St. Andrews yet so I am looking forward to it. Moby....check your mail Hub....be more than happy to play when you get here. I started a new job not far from Pattaya so it shouldn't be a problem to play on the weekends. Let me know when you get here. Cheers....gp -
Hello guys.... Just wondering if anyone has played in the Classroom Charity Tourney in the past?? IS it a good deal?? 2,000 baht > 1/2 cart, green fee, caddie fee, golf hat, buffet and prizes. It's a stableford singles format and being played at St. Andrews 2000. I am thinking of entering by myself so if anyone is interested, let me know. I am currently a 6 hdcp (not that it matters). Cheers....gp

Or...... Just pick up 3 girls.....3 holes each and there's your 9 holes!!! Cheers...and good luck gp

Hey Hilly... As most of the guys said.....the technology over the last number of years is outstanding. There is no doubt that some new irons would help. Not only when you hit the ball but psychologically as well. I remember the old Wilson 1200 GE's very well. I would much rather be standing over the ball with a newer club in my hand than the smaller Wilson. At the time they were one of the few "cavity back" irons and they did have a bigger sweet spot. Now....you have so many to choose from it's scary!! If you do decide to buy new ones, don't just go to a shop and pick some without hit

Hey Guys.... Thanks for the update. I have a week off in October so I was going to get out of Bangkok and play some golf. I have always liked LC but I had heard the condition wasn't that great. Nice to hear from you guys that have played it recently. Cheers......gp -

Hey Hilly... Sorry to hear about the (mis) match. Seriously......besides the holes you dug, what kind of condition is the course REALLY in?? I heard a while back the greens were horrible. Can you give me an idea please?? Cheers.....gp -

Thai golfing vacation - question
gp2002 replied to cmagrad's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
FYI..... SPORTS DAYS I keep in contact with a girl in the Sales and Marketing Dept. at Laem Chabang. She sent me an email the other day saying that during the month of October they will have Sports Day on Tuesday AND Thursday and the cost is ONLY 750baht!! No discount card required. That is a great deal considering the regular rate is 2500baht. DISCOUNT CARDS Unless I misunderstood, I didn't think you needed a discount card to get the cheap price on Sports Day. Anytime I played on a Sports Day I never had to show my discount card. CADDIES As for the caddies.....I have a -

I agree with Deuce.....I would take my own shoes. It's so hot, I wouldn't want to wear shoes that someone else was wearing. Cheers.....gp [smiley=cheers.gif]

Commander.... Anytime I have played, I have always worn dress shorts and a golf shirt. It's too damn hot to wear pants. I believe a shirt with a collar is the norm at all courses. Hope it helps.... Cheers.....gp [smiley=cheers.gif]
