what are the best day trips in pattaya??

Now if you could feed the wild monkeys TO the crocodiles I might waste the time. -
Good one!!! I did read it twice.

Hey all I like a good dinner buffet especially with decent seafood. Any recommendations in Pattaya? I did a search but couldn't find much. I'm interested in a high quality dinner buffet and not necessarily concerned about price. I've read about Apex and Diana Inn but I get the impression that these resturants have kind of basic fare at a good price. The one hotel I remember being recommended was The Montien Hotel. I'll definitely hit them. Any others come to mind?

Oh, and I managed a drunken weave from a beer bar arounf FLB to Areca at 3 or 4am and made it home alive. One note of caution though about that night; security maybe lax. I had a pyscho barfine from several days earier show-up at my room around 4am pounding on my door. Freaked me out. Maybe it's not an issue. The pyschos will probably always find a way in I guess but in my drunken state it was very alarming.

Great report Tengotodo! I love Areca and am very disappointed that they are booked-up for my upcoming trip. Now I'll admit it, I'm a relative cheap charlie when it comes to hotels and stay in the least expensive Areca rooms that doesn't have a great view. I don't spend a whole lot of time on my balcony so why spent the extra cash for a view of a pool. At about 1000 baht low season it was a great deal. Everything Tengotodo said was correct. Where I differ is that I don't think you get a lot more at Areca spending up to 1600 baht. The larger rooms aren't too impressive and I can do

Definitely let your bank know you'll be in Asia between x and x dates. If they start to see strange withdrawls halfway around the globe they could block the card. I have always let them know and never had a problem. Just for kicks tell them you'll be spending the money on pussy and beer. Let me know how it goes.

Any direct bus from BKK airport to Pattaya
Flash_Basbo replied to phantomtiger's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
What could be easier than walking out of the airport, grabbing a taxi to Mo Chit and picking-up a bus within a half-an-hour? From airport to hotel 300 baht with the baht bus figured in and you get to either sit next to a bar girl going to work or a smelly drunk. Last time I was lucky enough to sit right next to the toilet and got a good whiff everytime someone used it. But seriously, the buses are quick and easy. Never had a problem with them. -
I'm currently living in Taiwan and just recently downloaded Skype. So far so good. My calls home are 0.021 cents per minute to the US. They also have a program where you can buy a local number in your hometown so that family back home only make a local call to reach you. Thinking about signing up for that too. Then again if you don't like using a headset you won't want to use Skype. Personally I love using a headset. Hands free.

I'm on the other side of this issue. I love to fly. Heck, I'd fly to every morning to work if I could. I get a rush from the whole travel experience including flying. So, with that said, I'm just curious... Where does the anxiety come in? Concern about a crash? Just being 'in the sky' which is not normal for us? This is no slight to the guys out there experiencing a fear of flying. I'm sure I have my own anxieties such as ordering meat in a Cambodian resturant.

One note of caution about Sabii Inn. I stayed there for a few days in June. I liked everything about it. Good location as I'm not a big gogo hound. Baht buses stop right in front of the hotel. Big room. Safes. No tub showers (I like shower stalls). Great staff. Good price. But I still left after a few days and went to Areca. Why? The beds. They are rocks. I swear to God that they quilted steal into the matresses. I couldn't get comfortable, in any position hehe, on them. Was it just me or do any of you who stayed there had this problem as well?

I've stayed at Areca twice now and have enjoyed it both times. One note of caution though; security is lax. I had a pyscho barfine from several days earier show-up at my room around 4am pounding on my door. Maybe it's not an issue. The pyschos will probably always find a way in I guess but in my drunken state it was very alarming.

HOW OFTEN IS BUS SCH. TO PATTAYA
Flash_Basbo replied to MATADOR_USA's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
growler - Could you post the site you gained your info from? Typically I get a lot of very basic info from travel websites about buses in Thailand and not the full blown, nationwide schedules I'm looking to find. You can find them for the train system but not the buses. I also had found that buses left around 5:00am to Pattaya but really wanted to back it up somewhere so I'm not dicking around at Mochit at 5am. If we both found the same info I guess it's correct. I've heard the Thai Limo mini bus service to Pattaya is kaput yet all the travel sites still show the service. I just want to av -
HOW OFTEN IS BUS SCH. TO PATTAYA
Flash_Basbo replied to MATADOR_USA's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I've tried to do some research online to find out how early the buses from Mochit and Ekamai terminals leave for Pattaya. I can't seem to find their full schedules anywhere though. Any idea how early they begin leaving in the morning? Can you get their schedules online somewhere? Thanks! -
Well blow me down. I'm totally confused now. If I brought my own bottle to a bar in America they'd throw me out on my ass. Even one I frequent. It would be disrespectful. Even though it was ok for Lemons to do this at that bar his OWN bf'd girl wouldn't explain the soda situation to him? Do you longtimers agree with PokerUpFront's food related post? So I should not finish my meal as a way of saying that I am happy and full? Totally different than the US... Is there any polite way to get them to clue us in when we make a faux pas? I consider myself a polite person so offend

I stayed at Arcea in a standard room and found it very comfortable with a large bed. I just made sure to ask for a king. The view over the balcony was not pretty as it was of an empty lot but that was over a year ago. Who knows what is there now.

Sabai Inn - 'Internet Deal' a Deal?
Flash_Basbo replied to Flash_Basbo's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I made a reservation and seemed to get what I asked for; a room facing Beach Rd with external window (not an internal room). I decided not to bother negociating the price as I feel its fair. Wheels-up in 26 days! -
Sabai Inn has a 'Special Internet Rate' of 700B a day; no breakfast. Having stayed at the Inn once before I'm already happy with this price but the Cheap Charlie in me still wants the room for free. For those of you in the know (total noob here), do you think this can be negoiated down or is it already as low as it's going to get? I've heard of people getting ten days for the price of seven but I having a feeling they are going to tell me this is already the deal at 700B. So, in a nutshell, here are the questions: 1. Is 700B for a standard room at Sabai Inn a deal already? 2.

Ever get the distinct feeling you're being followed?

So Cambodian guests in your room are no problem I would imagine? I'll be traveling through Cambodia overland to Vietnam with a few days in PP. Any other hotel recommendations or places to avoid?

I stayed at Areca in about a year a ago and it was a pleasant experience. - Great staff. Very friendly and helpful. - Never had a problem bringing ladies in. - Standard rooms are a good value but overlook an empty lot. Didn't bother me as you still have a commanding view of the area and get to watch little domestic scenes playing out in the alley ways. I got a kick out of that. Deluxe rooms are same-same but overlook the pool area. - Rooms have large, comfortable beds. Small bathrooms with shower/tub. Rooms are carpeted which was a must in my book. On reflection I would say the rooms a

where can i find good thai dinner buffet?
Flash_Basbo replied to wallyperrier's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Lol, I think Pattaya is a giant Thai Buffet for all of us. Spicy sweet girls, sour girls, and stafishes to throwback... -
Sounds like a deal. Breakfast included? How are the rooms in the new wing? Tiny? Good size? Is this really what the new wing rooms look like? No balcony, right? Thought I was set on Areca... Flipper House Bedroom
