I think you are confusing my country with somewhere else.my country allows full freedom of expression to all religions.catholic and protestant live peacefully side by side and have done since the foundation of the state. My kids go to the local church of ireland school although i was born catholic.this is not unusual.I cannot think of a single act of religion influenced terrorism.not one.Not unless your thinking back to the time when we were occupied by a foreign power who tried with force to convert us .Is that what your getting at.but that was so long ago!Under irish rule this country has become a secular inclusive society.if you can show me one protestant person who feels dicriminated against because of his religion i would be amazed.Your not confusing my country with northern ireland are you?thats a different place completely, still under british rule and not subject to our laws whatsoever.that is a place that was artificially created to give a homeland to a million protestants who didnt consider themselves irish despite being here for 400 years. This was fine except for the small matter that nobody deigned to ask the opinion of the three million other people on the island,or even more importantly, the half million catholics who suddenly found themselves being governed permanently by people who despised catholics and the irish. They were forced(in their own country remember)to live like illegal immigrants,no proper voting rights, the poorest housing, poorest jobs. From this horrendous situation arose terrorists like the IRA.although even those murdering bastards didnt kill based on religion, they killed soldiers, policemen, rival terrorists and innocent people in shopping malls. They killed hundreds of catholics over the years. So i will say again religion linked to terrorism have no place in modern ireland,at least not where irish people rule themselves.PS i spotted a BBC poll recently where you voted for the greatest briton of all time.Oliver Cromwell was in the top 10.A great man then?well in small irish towns they still talk about the man who with his troops raped and butchered thousands across ireland in the name of his religion.Hero or villian?I suppose it depends what religion you are.
