  1. For you to shoot just 6 over (and that after taking a double at the first) was remarkable. Given that I shot a gross 104 and Taxi was not at his best it is somewhat mystifying that you could lose. Now why was that - perhaps your partner did a little too much "shopping" the night before ? Rumour has it that Jeremy is going to book a lesson with you next time round. A great round though - fun all the way. Shame about the course as the facilities are outstanding but as has been said, some serious money needs to be spent on the course not just the "glitz". Look forward to the next t
  2. This should be a BIG one. As yours truly tragically hits the big half-century, I figured I'd better pull my finger out with the cooking so there'll be a large turkey, home-cooked ham, sausages, marinaded chicken, home-made potato salad, coleslaw, pork pies, various salads, garlic bread and a few more things we don't normally lay on - and that's not limited to the food. So if you are around then come on down, come hungry but do come early if you want a decent seat 'cos as most readers know we aren't the biggest bar in town and I suspect it's going to be a tad lively. Hope to
  3. In addition to the security, one of the reasons I chose a condo over a house is that by getting a condo on a floor higher than, say, the 10th you can have your windows open at night without turning the room into a "flying circus". I rarely ever get any UFOs. Having said that, provided I can find something in the right spot that has adequate security I'm thinking of moving to a house when my current lease expires for one reason only - sport. UBC coverage is getting worse (apart from football) with both cricket and rugby coverage abysmal and to get the S. African Supersport package you ne
  4. Nice one Dodgie, should be a bit of fun. I'm in and my selections are............ Woods, Mickelson Di Marco and Darren Clarke. As far as the entry fee goes, if I am not in the bar would all entrants please leave it with either the mamasan or the cashier BUT ask them for a bit of paper and a pen and write down your name to avoid any confusion. I'll keep track of who has paid etc and safeguard the funds until the Catz Open and hand them over to the winner that night if he or she is present. If not, then the next time I see them thereafter. Cheers Pie
  5. I beg to differ. I am neither on a retirement visa or a work permit but opened an account with Siam Commercial Bank on Beach Road about 18 months or so ago on a tourist visa. In and out in about 15 minutes with ATM card etc. Their service has been very good subsequently. A friend opened an account at the same branch 2 weeks ago and he, too, is here on a simple monthly tourist visa. SCB's internet banking service is very useful also - I paid 4 bills this morning and it took me all of 2 minutes without leaving the condo. Cheers Pie
  6. A few. ROFL. No further comment necessary. As for the golf, you've got a bet but your maths are a tad faulty. Works out at 5/43. Nice try. Cheers Pie
  7. Tony, Just for the record it went like this.......... You have 1K at 11/2, 1K at 15/2 and 500B at 8/1. Bruce has 1K at 6/1 and 1K at 8/1. There's still a bit of 10's available. Shame we have to wait until January as I could do with the money now for Xmas presents. Cheers Pie P.S. Enjoy the football last night ?
  8. Was that last year's event ? Seems like it even though only a month ago - can't wait for the next one. Nice pics although we'd best draw a veil over what Tommo was doing with Kevin....(glad to see the glove on though ) Cheers Pie
  9. Yep, always the best way to go. There was a chilly north easterly last week whilst playing KK so I dropped down 10 from the normal ball compression I use. Worked a treat - only lost 7. Cheers Pie
  10. Tell me about it. Was having my best round for about 5 years with 34 points after 15 holes. Finishing score ? You got it - 34. Lost 5 balls in 3 holes and if I'd finished all 3 would probably have taken over 30 shots. Hilly's kindly practice swing on the 18th green improved my humour no end though. Cheers Pie
  11. Whilst hoping this isn't tempting fate, I think you are spot on. As you say, the wind has done a 180 in the past few days and is now back to normal. Hopefully that's the end of it and we are set fair for the golfing extravanganza. (Eat yer 'eart out, Hub ) Largely blue skies with light cloud at the moment. Now, if I can just get rid of the fog inside my head after last night's excesses all will be well.......... Cheers Pie
  12. Gutted that you can't make it Hub. Won't be the same without you. Plus I'm going to have to wait a little longer for payback time re the dromedary photos. Fear not, I won't let them slip my mind........ Now whose idea was the Bundy challenge ? 'Cos we all know that 's real reason for your ducking. Go on, come anyway, and you can lemonade on the night. Cheers Pie
  13. You did mention it to me and I'm sure Doggie will also pick up on it via this thread. Consider her "entered" so to speak. Cheers Pie
  14. Sorry for the delay Doggie - finally got round to this........ The day will cost 2000B and will include transport, green fee, caddy fee, buggy, commemorative shirt, prizes and after golf party at Catz with a sacrificial pig and the odd B52. The only thing excluded is the caddy tip will be up to the individual (Kevin and Greg's get extra as they have to walk up the hilly bits ). The transport is set to leave the RG at 0900 so please get there for about 0845 so we can load clubs etc. Those who are feeling well enough can always have some breakfast whilst we organise that bit. Dogg
  15. To correct a few inaccuracies - You can't blame the poor old sod for forgetting, let's face it - it's at least 6 hours since we finished . Tony's and my pitches were from 90yds. I went first and stuck it to 4 feet (the only pitch I got anywhere near a green all day as Bruce will testify - I played like my mother), quietly thinking that's got the half at worst. Tony then as you say duffs his 3 feet, so now I "know" we've won the hole. Then THAT happened. Criminal. Although Tony did lose (not win) 400 baht in side bets in total. Had he not holed that pitch it would have been 14
  16. Thanks for putting that lot together Dungers - some great memories. Now, if we can just top it this year............. Cheers Pie
  17. It was a classic from your caddie although I also liked Derek's comment....... His caddie, who was utterly useless, had done nothing but stuff her face all day and as she ordred yet another sandwich/can of coke his line of "It's like being out with one of the 3 fucking bears" had us all rolling about. Guess you had to be there..... Keeping the same caddie tomorrow Hilly ? Cheers Pie P.S. Don't forget yer wallet.
  18. English, Although you seem a little hasty at "trigger pulling" (and, as Dungheap pointed out, Steve and Dodgie are old friends) you are new to the board and probably aren't aware of the characters hereabouts and a golfer in need and all that. I know of a couple of American friends of mine that sound right up your street mate and failing that I'm always up for a game. Send me a PM with your exact dates and I'll see what I can do. Is $100 skins OK for you ? BTW, I play in a skirt off 36. Cheers Pie P.S. If nothing else we can organise a drink or twelve.
  19. Great to hear that you are making a comeback and even better news to hear that you have barely played. However, you will be well aware that handicaps are adjusted by means of cards returned and as you haven't put any in then that's that little issue sorted - no need for a dress. Perhaps there is someone else I should try to find and see if she also wants to come out of retirement ? Remember "Auntie" ? She quit the "nightlife" scene almost a year ago and is now working as a maid - we were thinking of trying to entice her to work service at "Catz" (for that is how it'll be spelt).
  20. Nice one Deuce. One question though. Why do you have lipstick on - is there something you aren't telling us ? Cheers Pie P.S. - Doggie H'cap 28 Shirt L You've got the email addy
  21. Nice work china. I'm in and although I'll probably be "sans Doris", please reserve a room with a King-size bed if poss (smoking), or, alternatively, as Hub points out I could just take yours again. I won't need transport to BKK as plan to be there the night before anyway. Likewise the return to Pattaya - I'll sort myself out on that front. In view of the Kanchanaburi experience - can I have a table at the back please ? Cheers Pie
  22. Will drop my grand in with Ben as I don't make it up to Soi 8 too often. FWIW, given that we aren't playing for a huge pool and thus 2nd and 3rd prizes would be pretty small, my vote would be for winner takes all. Happy with either option though. Pieman's Pride
