I wouldn't panic. The avian flu hasn't mutated so that it can spread through human contact. It is spreading in Asia because of the close proximity of humans to chickens who have been infected. Just stay away from live poultry while traveling in Asia.

Thanks for the post. Barely heard about Gilligan, didn't even here about Max. All you hear in the news in the States these days is hurricane damage. Funny thing . . . they are producing a new version of Get Smart for American television. If it doesn't have Mel Brooks and Buck Henry writing the show, it won't be funny. Don Adams was a classic. Thanks Ed - I will be the first to admit that I am totally clueless about EPL . . . still. I'm in Vegas right now, and the Golden Nugget would be happy to hear that, after I won $400 betting on Chelsea this weekend. Couldn't believe they have lines on the EPL, but they do. I met a few Scots and Brits when I placed my bet. I'm assuming a few of them were Scots as I only understood about 1 out of every 3 words they spoke. I enjoy reading all the posts about where to get the best food: i.e., steak, hamburgers, pizza, etc. That way, when I visit Pattaya, I can quickly access a discussion for suggestions on where to eat or drink. What are the thoughts on this board of creating a forum for restaurants/bars (no BG or "hands free" talk, just pure gastronomical and imbibing delights)?

I'm getting set to book a flight to LOS later this year. When I try to book Thai Airways non-stop LAX-BKK, I'm getting quotes from $1700-$2500. This just isn't competitive when I can fly China for $750 and EVA for $850. I'm willing to pay more for Thai Airways because it is non-stop, shaves 4 hours off the flight time, and has better arrival and return times, and will have new planes. However, double the price is just too much. Does anybody think this price will come down? What site is best for getting the lowest quote on this flight?

I also have the choice of Thai or EVA on my next trip which would be LAX-BKK-LAX. I flew EVA in 1995 HNL-BKK-HNL and it was great compared to any U.S. domestic flights. Business class seats for economy price, cute flight attendants, personal video screens, and acceptable food. What is the current status of the planes of Thai and EVA flying from LAX to BKK? I am primarily interested in seat width and not pitch. Other options include China Air or Cathay, but I prefer Thai or EVA. Delta and Uniflot are off my list.
