thaiflyer1 replied to ZAMPA's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Check this site out. http://www.mutmee.net/ -
The Mercure Group obviously had a bit of inside info when they took over the half completed hotel..............it/ll be in a prime spot once the new Robinsons is up and running on the old Vietienne/Palm Villa site.

I/d go for the Golden Crab Soi 13 apartment style rooms bedroom/bathroom/kitchen/living room......approx 18000/month . Currently they are extending the property but work is due for completion Dec this year. By next year all work in the Soi should be completed. Very handy for shops etc.

Cheers Redwood13..........thats cleared that up.

Ok heard a rumour the landlords dead...........true/false please?

Its not badly situated, just off Soi Bourkhao......really its hard to comment ,if the rooms are 350 a night then its good value if they are 800 a night then there are probably better situated places (not sure about internet though). There are plenty of bars and food places on Soi Lengkee and your only a 5 minute walk to the beach road. If you think about the length of the beach road Le Katai is roughly halfway down, just set back a bit...........if you could walk out the back of Mikes Dept Store and walk in a straight line you/d hit the Soi.

Sorry about that managed to send reply twice.

Which Visa should we apply for
thaiflyer1 replied to kenandlat's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
My 2 Satang worth.........main differences in applying for a "retirement" visa in your home country and in Thailand are, applying in your home country requires proof that you have no criminal record applying in Thailand does not...............applying and obtaining approval in your home country gets you the 1 year stay stamp in you passport upon landing applying in Thailand you obviously dont.............and lastly applying and obtaining approval in your home country means you dont have to bring into Thailand the 800k until it comes time for your first renewal of the 1 year extension, handy if you can make the 800k work for you during the first year in your home country. All the other basic requirements have been outlined by others already. -
Anybody thinking about staying at the Palm Villa (opposite the end of Soi Post Office) dont bother they started pulling it down yesterday.......rumour has it the restaurant next to it (Vietienne) is next on the hit list. :crying
-
My 2 Satang worth............although Phom is correct for a male and chan for a female, very often its perfectly acceptable for the male to use chan when talking to someone who is very close (relation wise) to him.
-
Sumo .....sorry about the delay in getting back to you. Yes the rooms all have safes. Was talking to the owner of the Crab this a.m.........the new extension next door is going to have 5 floors with a total of 30 rooms and underground car-parking.
-
Presume we are talking Soi 13...........i book my parents in there every year at xmas, rooms are apartment style....i.e seperate bedroom, living room come kitchen and bathroom all overlooking pool.........15 apartments over 3 floors.........run between 15000 and 18000 baht a month if memory serves me right.......plus electric 5 baht/unit . They are currently fully booked over the xmas period. One slight drawback at the moment is the owner is expanding onto adjacent land although all the foundations are in there is still work going on .......was down there this a.m noise isnt too bad. Oh almost forgot 3 of the rooms have 2 bedrooms.

If you manage to get from the taxi into your hotel room without picking up a "female companion" you/ll be doing well.

Help me out folks - never been to Pattaya
thaiflyer1 replied to uktraveller's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I/d second the Lek..............think you/ll find Soi 7 and 8 too full on and noisy. Forget Tims as someone has already said, its a pain in the arse getting over 2nd Road! -
The land between the Crab and Ma maison is owned by the Crab they bought it a couple of years back to stop any high rise construction being developed which would affect their outlook...........the boss of the Crab intends to extend the existing Crab around to form a u shape low rise apartments based around the swimming pool.......as to when it gets done ,thats another question! Far as i know the piles are in already awaiting further development.

newlyweds arriving september
thaiflyer1 replied to mick1eh's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Hi Mick........lived in Pattaya for 6 years never had any jabs, i wouldnt bother with them......the worst you/ll get is the trots. September be hot but could be pi%%ING down as well.......rainy season finishes back end sept/early oct. If you have the time while your here check out Ko Samet island for a couple of nights , its only an hour down the coast .....recommend Malibu Beach Resort on the island (do a search on google you/ll find their site). Pattaya ......what a place to come for a honeymoon..... good luck. -
Back to posters original question....yes there is a machine to update passbooks in Big C
-
Theres a branch on Pattaya south road as well on the right if you were heading away from beach road towards sukhumvit............it has a machine in to update your book if you dont want to wait in a queue.

Where are the 165 baht rooms?
thaiflyer1 replied to Jantrevor's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
You/ll be hard pushed to find a room short-term for 165 baht a night.....there is a place for 160-180 baht a night on 2nd road just down from Tims go go bar...but is it basic! If you are here for a bit longer 2mths + there are plenty of rooms at 5k /mth meeting your requirements.......ive got a house out of town but rent a room in town (for nights on the p#ss) across 3rd road from xyzte disco brand new 3k/mth..but i have it year round. 1k for electric, sophon and air.
