  1. I went over on a charter flight on 26th dec just gone with Orient Thai. Absolute nightmare, swore I wouldn't return with them, booked a one way flight back with Phuket air to gatwick. cost 14,200 bht, thats about 270 euro, work out sterling yourself :-), very cheap, lots of room in seat, booked at a travel agent on soi 8, this was also Jan return which was peak time
  2. For that kind of money, you'll be getting the cheapest penthouse room, no jacuzzi etc. Never looked at or stayed in one without a jacuzzi, but believe thry are small. What I normally do is book a regular hotel, then for a night or two near the end of the hol, I book the penthouse, Walk in and have a look at the rooms available first. I wouldn't stay longer than 2 nights tho as the rooms are too dim n gloomy, As for an alternative, u won't do better than RG through this site at 1,350
  3. cheers thanks, it won't hurt to stay the first night anyway, then if's it's too poor, then we can look elsewhere
  4. After many requests looking for hotels around new year, I finally achieved success with the Diamond Beach Hotel. Location is excellent but I want to know what it's like. I read the reviews in the other section. The latest review is over a year old and the reviews are split. some think it's a good place and others say it is a shithole. The site wanted CC up front to pay in full, instead one of the lads had his TG call into hotel and she secured it with 2,000 bht deposit for 3 deluxe rooms. At least now we can up and leave if it is shitty. Any word on this place lads
  5. The Areca lodge has one standard room still available from 26th dec to 3rd Jan if anyone is going solo for this time. you'll find it through a search engine on there own website. I needed 3 rooms so couldn't take the one available, I'd normally stick the link in, but am using a PDA at the moment so makes it difficult to open different areas at the one time to get it
  6. Just got word back from Wired Destinations, sorry hotel is full for this time, tried Sunshine Hotel, also booked out, have a requst in for the Alcazar & Beverly Plaza as well. Oh put another request into bookings.org for RG, they quote 2,500, lot more than FLB site, but can't get it through there, maybe Bookings have an allocation of Suites. I like the RG and am willing to pay the 2,500 if I can get it, rather than go someplace I don't know for similar price at this time of year. The Gala dinner thingy in most of the hotels pisses me off tho. I have no interest in staying in a hotel on New Years eve with a load of other Farangs, I go to Pattaya to escape them. I'll be hitting the Go Go's and bars with a vengence that night. Was in The Carousel and Living Dolls last New years eve, some night, some night
  7. Cheers thanks ferocious, seeing as you stayed there b4 can you advise if it is a nice place, bg friendly, I am getting it for avg 24 euro, about 1,200 bht a night from 27th Dec to 3 jan through wired destinations, looks like a good price for this time of year and good location as well
  8. No luck with the RG I'm afraid, guessed as much, that's what you get for booking a last minute fligt, I then tried the VC, this also was booked out, I can book the Central Pattaya hotel. Does anyone have info on this place, pictures look good, but they only accept full payment online up front i don't normaly like to do this, cos if a hotel doesn't come up to scratch I like to up and leave, this is not so easy to do when it's all paid in advance
  9. I just sent a request in to the RG from 27th Dec to 3rd Jan, suppose it will be booked solid, 3 rooms we'll need, just came across a good flight offer, will let ye know what it is as soon as we've booked it, should be tomorrow you're talking 800 stg leaving on mrning of 26th and returning 01.00 on 4th, good price for this time of year at this late stage
  10. I flew with Gulf on last trip, left LHR 10.00 in the morning, stop at Bahrain for about two/three hours, On return trip flight is at 18.35, about 6 hours stop Bahrain, They also have another route, at 11.00 in the morning via muscat then Oman and onto Bkk, I am returning in July and will probably use the 10.00 flight again, Best price I can find at £503 inc tax
  11. I agree with sinbinjack, I am going back this July and am looking for the best deal I can get. I have no Interest in listening to a pile of Muppets talking about what flights were there in July 1987 or the model of aircraft that was there at the time. In my opinion the posters are only intent on letting newer posters be aware of the fact that they were in thailand in the 80's, "WE DON'T CARE" This post is London to BKK in July, which means this July, we have no interest in what flights were available in the 80's. Please confine your posts to informtion on July 2004, thanks
  12. I'm going back in july I checked the the phuchet airline site for prices on the dates they fly according to schedule and all I got back was that there was nothing available on that date. When i get that shit on a site I never use it again as it is false advertising or else the site is not the standard it should be
