  1. You will need to do a TEFL course. "Teach English as a Foreign Language" there are many courses advertised in Thailand or you can do one online before you go http://www.onlinetefl.com A friend of mine is teaching in Bangkok, gets 40,000 bht a month and says there is loads of work over there. It's OK to live on as long as you don't try to live in Holiday Mode
  2. I have come across an airline Mahan Airlines http://www.mahanairlines.com/ connections aren't great and wouldn't suit me as I like to Go Fridays and return Sundays, but for anyone in the area that might like to try them, the best connections are Saturday... Bir to Teh 20.00 - 01.50 then Teh to BKK 04.15 - 10.45 Thursday...BKK to Teh 16.00 - 22.10 then Teh to Bir 23.30 - 06.00 They also have an office in Birmingham, might be worth a try, I remember a time back a member was having difficulty with flights from Birmingham, altho the connecting flight back does cut it a bit tight Mahan T
  3. I'll be going back end of October, so might be interested, does West East have an Online facility, problem with the phone number is that it can only be dialed in the UK, or do they have a number that is a regular one

  5. I also drive on the left, my Bike when I was at school and now my car is still on the same side. Trouble is that Thais drive on every side in all directions
  6. If this is you're first trip, then don't rent a Bicycle, you'll get killed. Actually if it's your 100th trip, don't rent a Bicycle, you'll get killed.
  7. Thanks Tom, some good prices there, not sure whether to wait until September for October deals or not. This will be my first time going in October, do most prices come down for that period. I'd actually rather fly Qantas from LHR, this is my usual route, It normally costs more but flight link ups and baggage direct to and from Ireland - BKK make it easier travelling, also Dublin is not my Airport of choice, I hate flying from Dublin to be honest and will only do so as a last resort if needs be
  8. I was looking at flights from Dublin and it came back 680 Euro for the end of October Thats 460 sterling(inc tak). Dublin to BKK via Zurich. Search on ebookers.ie. This was flying out Friday and Back Sunday. If u fly midweek, it cuts a few quid off this again, very good price
  9. Same here, stayed there on my first trip to pattaya, Joiner feee is a prob
  10. Used it March just gone, way better than Bangkok, only one flight a day tho, so make sure you book in time www.bangkokair.com
  11. Fantastic offer, just wish I was going back in June
  12. I'd suggest you book it online before you go, as there is only one flight per day it fills up quickly, I went last month and it cost approx 100 euro for the return flight, which I booked online a few months previous
  13. Unless there are 2 Malibu beaches, or unless you thought you were in the main part of the Island and weren't The island isn't very big so no place is very far away, but with the roads as they are it takes the Taxi a bit of a journey to get into the busier areas
  14. If you haven't owned/Run a bar or another business back home, then don't think you can go to Thailand and set one up there, you will be skint in no time. It's a business that has to work, not a hobbie
  15. Don't get a Bicycle "You will get Killed" on the roads. They are crazy drivers :crying
  16. Go up two fl;oors to Departures and get a Meter Taxi that is dropping someone off, arrange a price, if you are alone you can get for 1,000 if 3 sharing they normally charge 1,500. so price should be somewhere in that range, also remember to get Motorway Toll included in the agreed price
  17. I was in Samet 4 weeks ago, I initially booked two nights in Pattaya. When I got there I was staying in Malibu beach and had to get a taxi (pickup truck) to go into the more livelier places. The road is atrocious and the pickup is the only way to get through. We hired motorbikes on the second day to do the trip, but be careful as the road is one big pothole. We moved after the two days nearer the town where the ferry lands at the pier (our first boat stops on the beach and you need to wade through the waves to land with the Thai lads carrying the luggage over the heads, anyway I'd suggest you
  18. I'd have to agree also, rather than go to Pattaya, I'd suggest you go to one of the Islands such as Koh Samui, Koh Samet or Koh Chang, All these are in the gulf and well away from the Tsunami region. I was in Koh Samet recently myself recently, it's a lovely place to relax and unwind, I preferred it to Koh Samui personally. It all depends on what level of relaxation you are looking for. Samet might be too relaxing for a month, Maybe 2 weeks on Samet and then 2 weeks on Samui. If that is an option then the best flight from samet to koh Samui is out of Utapao and should be booked well in advance
  19. I've stayed in Chaweng Villa resort a few times, hotels in Samui are more expensive than Pattaya, so for the price you suggest you may be out of the way a bit. Try http://www.koh-samui-hotels.net/ Chawweng Villa is right in the centre of Chaweng and is on the beach, stay away from the wooden bungalows, I find they can smell a bit mouldy, the Garden view are o.K but the De-luxe is nice. Chaweng is the busiest area on the island, nice place
  20. I like the RG as well, fine place to stay, never noticed any noise from traffic, but then again I'm not there too long, I'm going in March and have booked the RG as the place to stay. No problem with Baht Bus across the road and even the security guard is always on hand to help you across the road (not that I need it yet, still in my thirties) Staff friendly, TV & AC in bedroom & in living room, In room safe, nice food in restaurant, nice pool to relax at. I especially like the seperate bedroom tho
  21. Just wondering, I have been in Dubai airport a couple of times, can anyone tell me if they have western toilets there anywhere??? I've looked, but all I can find are they ones where you squat over a hole in the ground
  22. www.airasia.com Try this also they always have good prices
