  1. I did add the caveat "I would recommend this dentist but that is just based on my experience so additional feedback will probably be appreciated by others who are looking to have dental work done." for exactly that reason. When a monger is looking for a service in a counry where they know few people, they can only go by the limited experiences that others are willing to share. That is why I asked for anyone else with experience with this dentist to comment.
  2. I was in serious need for teeth. No bottom back teeth and when I lost a bridge and the teeth in the front I had absolutely no way to chew anything and have been reduced to soups, eggs and very soft meals. After some searching on these forums, I decided to try Dentist @ Beach on the 4th floor of Central Festival Mall. I got the 'posts' drilled in - 2 on one side, 1 on the other in the back and need to return in August for the 'crowns' to be fitted. The work has been very good and the cost for those 3 is just about $5,000 and would have cost me $12,000 at home in Southern California. My den
  3. I found the place to be a delight to visit in the afternoon. Nice sea breeze, great view of the beach and City, nice relaxing ambiance, decent food prices, good selection of alcohol, friendly staff and no one pestering you to buy them a lady drink, jeez, whats not to like? I've got 25 more days on this trip and I'm sure that I will be back to PBG many, many time.
  4. I made it into the Pattaya Beer Garden yesterday around 2 - stayed for an hour and a half and enjoyed it thoroughly - the music video's, the great view of the beach and town, the sea breeze, the friendly staff. There was 1 lady in at that time that was clearly a freelancer and several couples of varying ages. As I walked in one of the waitresses greeted me, told me I was welcome to look around and sit where ever I like. I chose to sit at the center bar and was very pleased to see a nice bottle of Jameson just asking me to drink some of it! I tried the big breakfast and noted that as us
  5. Well, as luck would have it, I'm meeting with a few guys off the OFB board for a bar crawl that night, starting at Cherry Bar 2 at 8-8:30. I'll make it a point to hit Baby Dolls early in the crawl!!
  6. Well, maybe that isn't the reason we all go to Pattaya but..."friendly staff good music and the brilliant location" ain't too bad for a place to relax when not on the purposeful pursuit of something to dip your wick in. Angeles City has Mo's - a place to guys to meet up, to have a decent meal, a few drinks while watching the girls walk by and it does a great business - without hostesses or really any freelancers except for a few late at night. I'll be there in 3 days and sure intend to give it a fair try. Let's hope it catches on.
  7. As a daytime monger who likes to get to bed by midnight and wonders around town during the afternoons, I am most pleased to hear not only about your new venture but that it is enjoying success! I will be arriving in Pattaya in nine days for a months stay and will certainly put PBG at the top of my list of places to visit!
  8. I found the prices higher as well, even though I'm not tied to a schedule and can fly when the fares are lowest. Saved several hundred by booking in September!!! The Thai 'economy plus' - is that like the EVA Evergreen Deluxe? If so, it would be worth an extra hundred or so, in my opinion, to fly non-stop.
  9. They say its a 'King' but it is two twins made up individually on a King base! I doesn't bother me but I know some guys get annoyed at this so beware.
  10. I paid 750 baht but I know the price goes up a hundred or so in the high season. Still, a good price.
  11. My last trip in May I stayed at the Charming Inn for 2 weeks. The hotel is recently painted, new Air Conditioning units in the rooms, clean rooms and hallways, sparking pool facing beach road and all at a very good price, under 1000 baht! The location is nice - fairly quiet yet located 1/2 block from the great daytime/short time bar Welcom Inn and a block from Big C. All but one of the staff were friendly and helpful - no joiner or guest fees and bring back 2 or 3 if you like. I was very pleased and can highly recommend the Charming Inn.
  12. There is the Palm Beach Inn, right over a Belgium Restaurant on Dogtan Beach. Rooms are a bit small, expecially the bathrooms but the location is great and the price 700-900 baht is right. Next to that is Sugar Palm Beach which is like a motel, rooms a bit worn but larger and again, right on the beach and around 750 baht to 1000. The big hotels all seem quite a bit more expensive and many have joiner fees.
  13. They have a phone number and a fax number although I wasn't able to get a fax through. I phoned and think I have a reservation but communication was difficult. I think the rate is 500-600 baht this time of year.
  14. While I would agree that the Evergreen Deluxe on the 747 is far better then the new Elite, the Elite is still better then economy, at least in my opinion. I don't know what other airline offers anything in between economy and business class from Los Angeles to BKK and, as a retiree, I just can't afford business class. I'm sure there must be some so if you guys know of any, please advise.
  15. Evergreen Deluxe and Elite has absolutely ruined me for flying economy. I recently took a trip to Costa Rica from California which, while only a 6 hour flight was intolerable in cattle class. Used to be able to do it just fine but now that I'm spoiled, well, shucks. Afraid I wouldn't even consider flying economy for a flight that long. I have over 70,000 miles on American Airlines which would get me an economy from LAX to BKK on Cathy Pacific (a fine airline) but I am waiting until I have 110,000 and can get the business class! Of course, one must consider that I'm an old fart and o
