I spent over ten years working in restaurant and hotels in London, so I make this post with some experience. I just returned from a recent trip and wanted to share some observations / sugguestions with onwers of hotels and restaurants. 1 As an onwer do you make randon inspections of your business? If your on-site, please take time to walk your rooms, when empty and jsut look around with your onwers eye. i noticed a couple of easy fixes at my last hotel and wanted to share these with you as I have found the below has happened at other hotels I have stayed in. 2 Shower heads and taps. I had been a regular guest at he QV over the last couple of years, however my last stay was a nightmare. I made my booking over the internet and arrived ready to party I had spoken to Vic many times before.and had got along well with him. After my first day, Vic omes up to me and says hey will be making some small changes to the room next door to mine (constuction) How long I asked, only two days he replies. Typeo on my part. I arrive on the 12th, girlfriend now meeting me. If you get your knickers in a twist over a typeo, as a newbie try and remember this is the land of smiles not the land of rage.

try tropicalberts bar and hotel website they have a small sofa and coffee table on their website. Rooms are 700 a night, hotel is at the top of soi 6.

Japanese Karaoke bar opposite soi 6/7 on 2nd road, next door to a japanese sauna/massage. I went over and talked to the doorperson and she told me that This place will oly let japanese and korens inside. Entrance is 4000b and drinks are dear too. There are other Karaoke bars in pattaya that will let all races inside. so if this is your thing, you will still be able to enjoy a night out with your TG.

On my first trip in Thailand I had my bike stolen outside the open market on second rd. I went to the police, no help. I gave my dad a call as if had served in the army in asia for a few years and he told me thais sometiime will take a bike, use it for a day or two and return it where they"borrow the bike" I wnt back the next dayin the evening and the bike was there. I'm a member of China Airlines FF programe I fly from SF to Bangkok. I joined in Nov 04. Thiis will be my fifth flight with China on May 28 and my third upgrade into business. They have a number of parnter airlines and can also claim miles with these too. I fly delta to london once a year too, and add this flights miles to my account with china, you also claim mles if you fly on your birthday month and receive more miles when you get upgraded into gold status. Never had a problem when I had enough miles to upgrade to business. I don't drink a lot on the plane but also like a glass of whisky

Stayed at the QV many times and got to know the onwer well. I tired to booked in Nov 06 but was told was full, dropped by on my trip to have a beer and he told me, he got fed up with guests booking and end up as no shows. So he installed "Paypal' on his web site and now asks for deposit. If you decide to book and pay desopit, I wouldn't worry, just ask for email receipt and bring with you. I like this place, great food & a good pint, well ran and clean. No in-room safe, one downstairs in the bar. A few ex-pats drink in there too guest friendly

don't bother with bangkok, just catch a taxi to Pattaya. why, because it's much better.

It's so cheap for food from the carts the price does not matter just ask for not spicy. most will understand. I always hit a food stall on soi 2, fired rice with chicken or beef and veg 30 baht, very tasty and enough for lunch.

When you arrive if you check out some of the euro bars they have trips posted on broads outside their bars, this way you can ask at the bar who else is going and ask to join then for the day I have seen a couple of trips on broads at the bottom of soi 8, can't remenber the name. You could post on this site, saying your be in town on these dates and ask fellow menbers if they want to join you for a fishing trip for the day and share the cost.

Fellas, Good to hear that you received better fares than me, not to sure why you got a better fare from CA web site. The only reason I can off is the dates. This trip will be for six weeks, may 28th leave and I return the july 6th. I got an upgrade to business for 30,000 miles, low season only and I have gold menber status, so I can go use all their lounges, great for the 4 hour lay over. good luck with your trip.

Just booked CA through from SFO - from their web site Bangkok leaving late May. $720 return + fuel surcharge, tax total $890.
