Have any of you Scotsmen played the course at Nairn? It was the only course I played while touring Scotland. That was 10 years ago. Beautiful and dramatic links along the water. I recall taking shelter several times during the hailstorms. Stones almost as big as the golf balls. And then of course there is the gorse. ugh. Have never played in Thailand. Looking forward to the event. Bb

I'm looking into a package deal from Manila to Pya. Includes airfare, transfers from Bkk airport and return and 3 nights at Amari Orchid. $445. I don't see any reviews of Amari on the board. Any comments. This price includes a single supplement. Any experiences with guest fees at this hotel? Is this more like a resort with rooms spread out around the grounds? Bbear

Ray, thanks for the info on the clubs. I will undoubtedly rent when i am there. I usually only travel with carry-on baggage and condoms are so bulky you know. I guess i could bring a few less this time since i'll be spending half a day on the course. In any event, I don't think rental clubs could be much worse than mine. By the way, what's the cost for golf balls? Should i bring a dozen? Remember, 10 baht saved is a ride to your favorite beer bar! (I know FT, it's only 5 Baht.) Dave, I'm checking in tomorrow night. Didn't stay there before but have heard that the rooms are decent, but they do vary with decor and upgrades. I'm told that our rooms are recently renovated. We'll see. The price is reasonable. The best thing about traveling now is that if it doesn't work out there are 1000's of other rooms available. I heard the reports about the neighborhood, but a scooter taxi gets you to the door for 20 Baht day or night. My flight gets in at 23:35. Took you three trips to fall eh? Pretty good record I'd say. Reading this board you can see that this question has been answered many times both ways. Likewise, the results are rather predictable. Sometimes it works out but more often not. My experiece is mainly in the Philippines but the scene is basically the same. Beautiful women looking for a way out of a third world country. Don't know the quality of the hotel, but it is right on the beach and very close to one of my favorite stops, the Winchester (may be renamed by now) Club. It takes about 10 - 15 minutes to get to FLB. Bear
