  1. Damn. Some hard questions in there.
  2. I'll checked and didn't see anything to allow that (yet). I'll keep my eyes open. There's a lot of configuration settings for this board that are buried under many layers. We were doing some maintenance in the background that tied up the database and web server (as far as I can tell). I didn't realize PattayaPete was doing some heavy lifting at the same time I was.
  3. I'll work on the modification when I get a quiet night or easy morning. The supply of Camel (Non-filters) is kaput. They are gladly accepted and paid for at a very favorable exchange rate.
  4. I'm working on it. For the time being, you'll have to remember to set the check box, but after some testing, you'll have a way to set the option by default.
  5. For me, when I dwell the mouse over Mark All Posts as Read, it changes to a very light color which is hard to see against the background....maybe a shade of blue, but not very dark for the contrast.
  6. Just so everyone knows, any posts made between 0500 GMT 22 Aug and 0800 GMT 24 Aug will not appear on the board (because they were not part of the message database when I switched over the software version). If you posted during that time, and your message is lost, please repost (if it isn't part of the anarchy that prevailed for those 2 days).
  7. Here's why
  8. Try to reupload your avatar now.
  9. Yes, I see the problem with avatars and user posted images. Help should be on the way when they wake up in the USA.
  10. The new board software is up with posts and PMs prior to 0500 GMT 22 Aug.
  11. For this board, the database conversion running on the board server would take about 50 hours of solid computing, locking everyone out of the web server. Instead, I am capturing the database and then converting it on another computer (a dual core 3.0G processor). It cuts the conversion steps to about 15-18 hours if I don't make a single mistake I contacted Invision about this and they said, "Yep, it might take a long time". Anyway, assuming I am up at noon tomorrow (local time), the conversion will start as scheduled.
  12. We will be moving to 2.1.7 with the latest fixes.
  13. Upgrade IPB software. Lots of long running database changes..
  14. I have no idea if that is a valid email address or not. Did you try using their Reservation Form?
  15. On Tuesday, 22 Aug, at about 0500 GMT (Noon in Thailand), I will be converting the board software using the messages, posts, and PM's that have been entered as of that time. The board software conversion might take up to 24 hours, and any posts, topics, PM's etc that are entered during this time will be lost when the new software is up and running. I will be leaving the board running during the conversion period, since it will still be useful for readers and lurkers (who constitute the majority of the board's users). So, if you are planning on doing a long trip report or post, please either wait until the new software is running or keep a copy of your post so you can re-enter it when the board has been converted (probably sometime Weds 23 Aug).
  16. LK Metropole is GF.
  17. I heard from a taxi driver that the new airport will charge a (significant) fee for all taxi pickups, so it might eliminate any savings that should be expected by the lesser distance from Don Muang.
  18. bkkinvestigations, if you're sleuthing skills are equal to your propaganda skills, I'd find another day job. We don't appreciate someone who contributes nothing other than ads for their business or service using this board for free advertising. However, if you were to be an informative poster in other areas besides your business scheme, you'd be allowed discrete solicitation. As it is, you're off to a bad start.
  19. Well, that was a bit of a mess. I started the particular job at 9:30am local time, and by 7pm local time (9 1/2 hrs), it was still not finished. A couple of hours ago, I restarted the board software, hoping that it could run while the long running job was also running, but it crapped out about 1/2 hr ago. So, it's back to the drawing board. Until I come up with another way to do this, the board should be stable (again). Thanks for being patient, and welcome back!
  20. FYI - the board will be offline for several hours from about 0300 GMT today, Sunday 13 August. I'll have to get up early here to start the job (about 10am local time), so if I sleep in, it will be later, but when it happens you'll know it, because I will shut the board down. Thanks for your patience.
  21. Ok, we stopped the maintenance activity, so the board will be working fine for a while again.
  22. We're starting some more maintenance activities on the server, so access might be sporadic or non-existent for a couple of hours, starting about at 8am GMT on 12 August (about 2 hours ago from the time of this post). Sorry for the inconvenience.
  23. Ora pro nobis.
  24. FYI - the board will be offline for several hours from about 0300 GMT today, Sunday 13 August. 25. I too use the ADSL in the room. Since they upgraded their network broadband facilities, I'm getting between 600Kbps and 1Mbps download speeds. The WiFi connections are shared and not as fast, but they would be great for simple browsing and email etc.
