Because I was curious about the hotel occupancy situation, and because I am such a good guy , I stopped in at Sunview Place, on Soi Buakhao, relatively close to Pattaya South Road and checked with them for your dates. They have one room available for that period with a single large bed (had rooms with twin beds too). If you want it, call them and say your name is "Becker" and that "Martin" referred you. I left well after Hilly (though he had a head start on the libations from the day before, I hear) and got home at the reasonable hour of 12:30. Had a session with my GF for a while and then set the alarm. I didn't sleep a wink knowing that damned alarm was going to wake me at the ungodly hour of 7:30. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Did he buy the cigs at duty free in the arrivals area? I'd be leery of buying any more than one carton there, even though, last night when I came in, I couldn't find any cigarettes on sale in the area near the baggage claim. Both duty free stores that were open had only alcohol for sale, as far as I could tell.

That's the pool area for the LK Metropole. I wonder if they know that Keerati lodgers are using the pool?

Thanks, cybers. I've followed it up and sure enough, there was no reverse DNS entry. The ISP has added one. Hopefully my bounced mail folder will stop loading up with missed emails. Come by the bar and I'll buy you a drink.

It's even worse than that. The mail actually gets returned as undeliverable...and every single email with that state that I have dealt with has been to an AOL account. This is much more serious than simply marking it as spam...all good email services work on doing that, but to be as unreliable at delivery and receipt as AOL is beyond belief.

Okay, now I see what you did. Anyway, in answer to your original question about how long it takes. I process the membership requests every 3 days...so, it could take up to 3 days for your membership to be activated. For anyone that has an AOL mail account, there seems to be near 100% probability that the reply email to you gets bounced.

I had a system spec'd out at a hardware store in the US, wanted a custom built system using the latest motherboard and processor, video card and disk bus interface. I got a price in the US plus a list of components by model and manufacturer, but didn't want to take the chance of bringing it to Thailand and getting customs charges. So, I went to Hardware House at Tuk Com and asked them if they could get the same components. Without exception, they could. The price for building it here was within 3% of the out the door price in California...and the guy brought it to my apartment, and set it up. When I had a problem with booting while a removable hard disk was installed, he came over and fixed it (was a BIOS problem). So far the system runs great (Pentium dual core 3.0G, 1G RAM, 250MB SATA-II drive, WinTV, removable 250MB drive). About $1300 USD. Overall, I am very happy with the "build it" solution.

I agree, Grace is fine. If everything else is full, it's usually available. Rooms are okay, as ROLAND says, on a par with the Nana (or even the Ambassador). The location is good, just a short walk thru the back to get to Gulliver's or Soi 7. There's a really good kebab place just down the street out the front, and my favorite massage place for a straight massage is across the street (Bangkok Health Spa). The clientele might be more Arab and African than farang, but they've never ever bothered me, and if there is a terrorist attack in Bangkok, it's the safest place to be.

Jerry, I don't know his history or why his status is currently "Validating". I suppose he might have changed his email address and the forum software reduced his status to Validating rather than Member until he replies to the email, which he has not done. I moved this topic to this section because it relates to technical problems or questions. Also, in this section, the user in question will be able to see it, since he probably doesn't have Membership access until he revalidates his email.

That id is not currently a member of the board. If he gets around to validating his email address and applying for membership, he'll stand a much better chance of getting PM's.

I'll try to get some lessons before the rematch. It was fun. I'm also having a dress made so I can get my 36 handicap.

From talking to a taxi driver, all those Bangkok taxis that brought fares to Pattaya from Don Muang are getting 500B from the "travel agents" that set you up with them for 800B Pattaya to BKK fares. I think if you can get one who isn't afraid of the "travel agent mafia", you might be able to cut a 500B fare. I've always wondered if it could be done.
