  1. Some people are confused. Northpoint is not the same as Northshore. Northshore is the development that was restarted from a failed older project (near Beach Road/Soi 5). Northpoint (the subject of this topic) is a new development at Wong Amat Beach. Both are Raimon Land projects.
  2. Reminding those of you in town who have pre-registered, the registration time and place is 8pm-10pm tonight (Sunday, 5 Nov) at FLB. If you're going to cut it close, remember that tonight is Loy Khratong and there is lots of traffic, and Walking St itself will be very crowded with women taking itsy bitsy steps in their traditional dress.
  3. About 6pm I was informed that there was a problem editing posts. I tried to edit the post and discovered there was a problem with the database tables for the forum messages. I then took down the web server and started a recovery process. Little did I realize it would take 4+ hours. Anyway, about 20 minutes before it would have finished, I had to go to FLB to listen to an audition for a new female singer (she's really pretty good). I then got stuck in the bar for 2 hours until I managed to high tail it to the room and check the recovery. Seems it succeeded. With fingers crossed, I brought up the web server again and it seems okay. Anyway, 2 hours of the outage was me hanging out at FLB. Sorry to the rest of you. Believe me, I felt guilty.
  4. You don't need to show your work permit to get a driver's license, so the Bangkok address should not matter at all. Show your passport, your affidavit of residence (address in Pattaya), health certificate. I think that's about it.
  5. You can't. It has to be done by an Admin user (me or PattayaPete). You'll always be Big Chief to us.
  6. FYI, the pattayapics upload function and gallery has been disabled until I can determine if this is the security hole that has been exploited by the hacker(s).
  7. The email for party information is partyon@flbbar.com
  8. Seems around noon local time, there are some maintenance processes that are run by the forum software. I will see about moving them to a more suitable time (8am local seems to be the quietest time).
  9. I don't know really. You can download the invision software and look for their emoticons directory, but I don't have a right to redistribute them. There are many emoticon sites around the internet. Try a google search for "free emoticons".
  10. Good luck, really! It's a huge undertaking to transfer programs and such to your laptop...at least when I do it. You will need to reinstall the programs you want to use on the laptop (generally from their distribution CDs). For emails, internet favorites, desktop settings and your personal files, you can use (if using Win XP), Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. It sort of works. You'll need a lan connection between the two computers to share things. Once you have that set up, you can copy any other files you like to your laptop. I hope someone has a better and easier way to do it, because I sure would like to know.
  11. When he/she hacked the pattayapics site, they put up a page that said it was some Albanian hacker with some wierd name. Who knows?
  12. I wasn't on then, but the board has been up for the last 4 days continuously (a record since 15 Sept when the hacker hit).
  13. Sounds like a good topic for the Pattaya Wiki Oh, and I forgot to mention Club Boesche has wifi as well.
  14. Heaven Above FLB Lennie's Jameson's Secrets
  15. Yes, it happened again about 3:30pm local time. I checked the server and didn't find anything especially amiss except that it was temporarily busy. The problem resolved itself by itself without my doing anything. I'm just speculating, but there are some background cleanup tasks for the forum software that might have been kicking it at that time.
  16. I hope nobody we know was in Ko Chang this week...looks like a big mess with 1.5m of water at the beach road: From Bangkok Post
  17. FLB, Misty's, Heaven Above Agogo, Lennie's, Secrets, Jameson's, and soon Bob's Burgers all have Wifi available for free to their customers. Most have encrypted connections.
  18. Thanks for the feedback. That's good to know. We added more memory to the server and it seems to have fixed the problem (I've still got my fingers crossed). After the hacker attack that occurred on Sept 15 and the following few days, it took some time to find the security holes and plug them. Once that was done, the memory issue started rearing its head, and I was still thinking "hacker", but the support staff at the server location suggested it just might be too much load for the memory on the server. Reluctantly, I agreed to pay for additional memory to see if that might be the problem, and it looks like I am stuck with the new monthly charge for the memory upgrade. But at least it appears to be working.
  19. I don't know. There's been a lot of emotion on the board lately I'll take a look around for some more if you really want some. Any particular emotions you want to illustrate?
  20. Best of luck in your venture here. I hope you can get TheQuietMan to come visit once in a while, because you two make a great team.
  21. Thanks for the lists. Opened a can of worms there.
  22. The Hotel Review section is back up.
  23. The Hotel Section will be back once I have converted the software to the latest version. The earlier version had a rather nasty security weakness that someone exploited to cause mischief. I will announce when it is ready in this section.
  24. There's a good chance this is caused by additional load on the system due to current events in Thailand, as well as the demands of additional software features from the forum software upgrade. Tomorrow morning local time, we'll be enhancing our server's hardware. Hang in there..it might get better.
