You can't beat their prices on name brand sundry items. Most, but not all, of their store brand items are of very poor quality. IMHO, the only time to go into a Walmart is when they first open at 06:00. Some stores are better than others and that depends on the area. Their store in Oakland was so bad they finally closed it earlier this year.

Ah, Norma Jean. Several years ago I was going a late relative's belongings and came across a deck of cards with the same nude photo of her on each card. The first movie I remember seeing as a child, "River of No Return".

On the West Coast of the U.S. you can catch a flight that leaves around midnight or 01:00 and arrives at BKK between 10:30 and Noon (+1). As to V.I.P. treatment there is, or use to be, a hotel.... somewhere in the 13s.... that offered a package complete with hanky-panky. IIRC, it was the Penthouse. I've never heard a good word about the hotel, but some have reported they enjoyed the trip from the airport.

Ditto. I was in the military in the 1960s and never heard the term until reading this thread. From reading the explanations it appears to be what we use to call a "Chinese Fire Drill." That is probably considered "racist," in these, Oh, so politically correct" days. Then there was the "Paddy wagon" and "Irish Pennants" both now considered racist slurs.

What is Cathay Pacific like cos found a flight for £374

Those seats were supposed to have been replaced on their long haul aircraft. -
Why?! Firefox, SeaMonkey and the "old" Opera all work with this forum. Ditto Konqueror, upon which Safari is based. The "new" opera is little more than a chrome clone.

As VPI78 said, it is seasonal. Fares start going up the 3rd week of May, peak in July or August, and go right back down the 3rd week of September. They go up again for the Christmas season and down again the first or second business day of the New Year. They pop up again for a few days just before Chinese New Year and then go down again as soon as it is over, and stay down until the 3rd week in May.

@RhinoTusk, Thanks for all the great photos. The Federal was built in 1966 as a short time hotel, but quickly became popular with the G.I.s from Vietnam on R&R. The rooms were small, but they has a good pool and the food was good. Even after I started staying up the street at The President Solitaire the girls preferred to eat at The Federal Coffee Shop.

Yep. Beats having some "know-it-all" cut you short when you try and tell him how to put the car in reverse and then does exactlly what you were going to tell him not to do. To put my car in reverse you have to reach down with a couple of fingers and pull up on a ring on the gear shift stem, not the knob, while sliding it into reverse. The moron at the smog station grabbed the gear shift knob and pulled it right off the stem, taking some of the wiring with it. First class idiot, but he paid to have it put it back together, properly.

Karma. This is what Boeing deserves for farming out the most significant structural component of the aircraft. The 787 wings are made by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, in Japan. IIRC, the 787 was the first time the wing had been farmed out and will, mostly likely, be the last. Boeing has said they plan to make the new composite wing for the next generation 777 at a new plant in the Seattle area..

Samsonite replied to ThaiKhun's topic in Technical problems or questions.
Emoticons collections are available from many sources, but if you see one you like here, or most any board, simply right click on it and then on, "save image as" and save it to your hard drive. -
Looks great, but the portions are very small.

Do you have a preference what time you fly?
Samsonite replied to MCCREADY8's topic in Airline Discussion
Many of the Asian airlines have flights that leave the West Coast shortly after midnight and have you in BKK before Noon (+1). Cathay Pacific, EVA Air and China Air (Tawain) are the first three that come to mind. Of those three, Cathay Pacific (British owned*, BTW) is the best by far. *http://www.swire.com/en/index.php -
I also enjoy the series, but Miss Liu is 45 and looks it, yet they continue to dress her like a teenager. There was a time when I thought she was good looking (for a carpet muncher), but I've met far better looking bar girls in the land of smiles.
