  1. The small rooms are way too small and dark. I for sure would pay the extra 200 for the medium room who is quite spacious albeit basic.
  2. I can confirm all the above and I would like to add the new 300 Bath joiner fee for every guest exceeding the 'max. 2 persons per room' rule, whether ST or LT! Made us check out prematurely last month. So if you are heavily into three or more-somes, forget it!
  3. Test for Dementia The results are quite accurate but not to be taken seriously :-) Below are four (4) questions and a bonus question. You have to answer them instantly. You can't take your time, answer all of themimmediately. OK? Let's find out just how clever you really are.... Ready? GO!!! (scroll down) First Question: You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you in? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Answer: If you answered that you are first, then y
  4. Breakfast buffet is for two so just bring your tilac du jour. Very good hotel, very good location also. Been there twice and will be back April next year.
  5. Before things are getting mixed up: The Welcome Inn and Welcome Plaza are two different hotels! The Welcome Plaza is on 2nd road (between Mike's shopping mall and RGP but at the other side of the street) and from what I have read, notorious for it's bug pests.
  6. Look here: http://www.welkominnthailand.com/ Not been there myself but from what I've heard it seems to be a cheap kind of place; rooms small and worn out. However a daytime beer bar on the premisis.
  7. I have made reservations for January 7 untill January 29 and they charged me 3000 Bath deposit as usual. (3th. visit)
  8. I'm a shrimp kind of guy... Great libido-booster too.
  9. For me the advantage is the unobstructed view if you have a room facing the back swimming pool. So if you have a workout with your TG you don't necessarily have to close the curtains and it is always nice if you wake up that you can enjoy your morning coffee at your balcony without staring at your opposite neighbour's morning wood.. I have read comments from other bm's about the roosters but in all honesty, I have never been bothered by that; I have hardly even noticed. You must be a very light sleeper if it does. We have stayed in room 2306 and 2406. I.m.o. the location can't be beaten.
  10. I have booked the Areca Lodge again from January 7 till January 29 2007. High season so you cannot be too early to make your reservations!
  11. Maybe it's an urban legend but I have been told that in Cambodia you can shoot a cow with a rocket launcher...
  12. Two words: Areca Lodge. Guest friendly, 2 swimming pools, free breakfast for 2, great location, very well maintained, etc. Do a search on Areca Lodge and you'll find lots of positive comments.

  14. Tiffany's shooting range carries a vast selection of handguns. I have used the Beretta 9mm but I have seen .38 and .357 Magnum revolvers and shotguns as well. The 9mm cost 50 bath a round. But as a word of warning: Tiffany's shooting range has become a popular (final) destination for desperate farangs.
  15. Used C.A. on both our vacations and never had a problem. Legspace is your usual coach-class (you just have to sweat it out for xx hours...). No fancy LCD screens in the seat in front of you but old fashioned tv-sets on the ceiling. Aircraft was very clean though and seemed well maintained. Food was very good. All flights were right on schedule also.
  16. Almost every store/market booth also caters for 'fat farang'. Got myself some nice XXXL designer shirts in Mike's shopping mall. Same goes for bermuda's and other casual clothing. Check out also the indoor market on Second Road; 500 meters north from soi Diana at your right hand.
  17. Look here http://www.chokdee-inn.com/ I happen to know the owner (he's Dutch) and he is a decent guy and he's very enthousiast about his venue.
  18. At the jewellers store in Mike's shopping mall (take 2nd road enterance, than 50 meters at the right)I saw a top Seiko scuba divers watch for 9200 Bath. Probably you can negotiate a 30% discount.
  19. At Zarah's watch shop somewhere between 2000 and 3000 Bath. Do a search on 'best fake watches' and you'll find a ton of information.
  20. We used their pickup service last year and it was excellent. Costs 2000 Bath at arrival and 1500 Bath at return. At arrival the driver was already waiting at the airport with my name sign. At return het arrived 15 minutes early. Nice, new Mazda sedan with good airco.
  21. Meanwhile we have booked again and we will arrive in 5 weeks sharp. Never heard any roosters. I assume that if you are going to sleep, you will have the balcony door closed and the airco unit on. No way the roosters can disturb your sleep.
  22. This video should really make you feel 'at home'.
