  1. I arrive 11/21 to 1/8
  2. I will be there from NOVEMBER 23rd until JANUARY 3rd. Any names of hotels that fit the criteria would be helpful.
  3. I would appreciate any help in finding a hotel that has most of the following: 1) Around 1,800 Baht a night (including breakfast) 2) A room with a sea view 3) Guest Friendly 4) Balcony 5) Clean rooms and bathrooms 6) North Pattaya, if possible but not as far as Nakula or Wong Amat Beach, along Beach Road as far north as 2nd Road 7) Bathtub/shower combo 8) I want to be able to stay about 43 days starting around November 23rd - January 4 9) Elevator 10) Swimming pool I usually stay at the Mark-Land Hotel Soi 1. I have read recent reviews that the hotel, is now serviced apartments, has gone down in quality. Thanks for any current info.
  4. 5. I am interest to know if the new Holiday Inn on Beach Road, North Pattaya has opened yet? Also, any information about it if anyone has stayed there yet, especially their daily rate. Thanks in advance for any help.
  6. Yes. Every year I buy my VIP Membership and pay with plastic. No problem. I haven't tried the new club in Pattaya but since everything is supposed to be the same there is no reason why it shouldn't accept credit cards also.
  7. I used info@directrooms.com. They got me a rate of 1,400 per night for my stay, November 26th to December 26th. This includes breakfast.
  8. I usually arrive around the 3rd week in November. I have found: The weather is around 85 - 95 degrees during the day and can get into the 70's at night. Just great. The last several years it hasn't been that humid. Also, it has almost never rained. When it did, it was only for a very short time. Many days there was a nice breeze. The prices didn't seem to be any higher. Lots and lots and lots and lots of lovely ladies, ok I like a nice selection, all over. Walking Street, around 1am to 2am, is still one of the wonders of the world if you are male. The parade is wonderful. If you don't see someone you like then you are probably dead or to drunk for your own good. Lots of Asian tourist but they spend money so it helps the economy. They travel in groups so you will find yourself in a GoGo and suddenly it will fill up with one of these groups. For a while you won't be able to see much and it will be pretty close quarters. Then, all of sudden, they all leave in a group and things are back to normal. For some reason, the US dollar seems to get stronger during the end of the year, so, excuse the pun, I get more bang for my buck. The sidewalks at night along Beach Road may be more crowded, but this is High Season. Just being lucky enough to be in Pattaya is one of life's rewards. Just keep a couple of things in your thoughts: 1) You are one of the luckiest SOB's in the world. Think about all of the other poor guys who would love to be in your shoes, so smile a lot. 2) Relax and be patient. You are on vacation and will have plenty of time when you get home to rush around and be stressed. Enjoy your November visit. Just one man's opinion
  9. Dear vikingprince: I suggest Mark-Land on Soi 1 and Beach Road. Some reasons: 1) Very girl friendly 2) Nice size rooms 3) Nice size bathroom 4) Each room has an outside balcony with a view of Pattaya Bay. 5) Restaurant on the top floor (27th) is all glassed in and serves very good food. Very nice place to take a companion for a drink or dinner. 6) One of the only hotels that has a glass elevator. Most of the Thai ladies have never ridden in a glass elevator. 7) Good air conditioning that can stay on with the room key. 8) Very nice pool area on the 5th floor that is never crowded and has a beautiful view of Pattaya Bay. 9) An exercise room with different types of equipment. 10) Nice staff. 11) Quiet. 12) Very close to several money exchange booths 13) Many restaurants very close by 14) The hotel is only seperated from the beach by the width of Beach Road 15) Very close to Big C I stay every year for about a month.
  10. At the Mark-Land there is no security check and you can come in the side from the parking structure and not go through the lobby. There is a laundry service right across the soi.
  11. My suggestion - Mark-Land Hotel Soi 1 For the following reasons: 1) VERY GUEST FRIENDLY 2) Bed big enough for 3 (not two beds together) 3) Good size room with fair size refrigerator 4) Nice size bathroom with tub and shower head 5) American buffet breakfast included 6) Friendly staff 7) Onsite spa 8) Very nice pool area on fifth floor with beautiful view of Pattaya Bay 9) Beach is just across Beach Road 10) Quiet end of Pattaya 11) If you want beer bars, just walk up soi to 2nd Road. A whole new cluster of beer bars 12) Very near Sabiland for soapies 13) Very near Big C Mall 14) Beautiful glassed in restaurant on 27th floor. This is where they serve breakfast in the morning and it affords you a beautiful view of Pattaya from north to south. A great place to bring a companion to watch a sunset at happy hour. The restaurant is a very nice place for dinner at very reasonable prices. Fairly extensive menu of Thai and Western food. 15) One, if not the only, hotel that has a glass elevator that goes to the 27th floor. Many Thai ladies have never been in one and usually they grab a hold of you the first time. 16) A number of good restaurants right around the hotel. 17) Very easy to get Bahtbus to go down to Walking Street. 18) A nice easy walk to Soi 6 19) They have an exercise room 20) Every room has a balcony with a view of Pattaya Bay. Nice view for the ladies. 21) The air conditioning stays on without the key. Also, it works very good. 22) A number of currency exchange places very near. 23) Family Mart right at the end of the hotel driveway. Contact the hotel or check their website for the rate at that time of the year. I hope this helps.
  12. I live frugally during the year. I take only one vacation for 6 weeks to Thailand. Try and party like crazy during my stay. Then 10 1/2 months of recovery. Then start the cycle again until retirement to Pattaya in about 3 - 4 years. Then it will be reversed. Vacation in the States for 4 weeks a year to see my married friends and rub it in about how nice it is to bonk the lovely ladies that are the same age as they were when I was in my teens and 20's. Of course, being in my fifties I appreciate them much more now.
  13. cd They have their own website. When I am in Yahoo I type in mark-land hotel pattaya. Then scroll through until you find the website for the mark-land hotel itself. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Even if you stay at a different place, go by sometime and check the hotel out. Take the glass elevator to the top around happy hour, 5pm if I remember correctly, and have a drink or two. Watch the sunset, around that time for November/December, with a lovely companion or two. Last year they didn't have an internet connection but there was a little shop across the soi that had a couple of internet computers. I would go up to Big C or any of the places near the hotel if I needed to check E-Mail or other internet stuff. I haven't checked this year if they have any internet connections. I must admit that the internet has a low priority of importance to me when I am in Pattaya. My Rnterest is getting a good "plug in" with the lovely ladies. One other nice feature I like about the hotel is that there is no bar directly near the hotel. So, you are free to roam without worry about having the female grapevine record every girl(s) you are with. Yet, if walk walk up the Soi to 2nd Road there is a new complex of beer bars where you can find plenty of new companionship and music. It is also a short walk to Sabailand for a soapy. Last year they opened several new restaurants very near the hotel.
  14. EnglishPaul If you go to the restaurant with a companion, be sure to take the glass elevator to the top floor, 27th. Your companion may never have ridden in one. Some of the ladies I have taken up to the top tend to grab hold of you the first time. Also, if you go around 5pm they have "Happy Hour" and the drinks are lower priced. I think if you go for dinner, you can sit inside or outside. Great View. Varied menu. Thai dishes, American, French, etc. Fairly extensive menu and very good prices. During the day they have a downstairs restaurant, where the help and others, can get a cheap lunch. Please don't tell anyone else about the Mark-Land, I don't need the competition for the rooms.
  15. donny I book several months in advance and have been getting a better rate than shown on the hotel's website. The reason I book early is because I always stay mid November to mid December so the discount is nice since this is "High Season". Hope this helps.
  16. Throwing in my two cents, I recommend the Mark-Land Hotel on Soi 1. The reasons for my recommendation: 1) Around 1300 Baht 2) Nice staff 3) VERY Guest friendly. No joiner fee. I have had several lady visitors at the same time. 4) Nice size rooms 5) Nice size bathrooms that are clean with a tub/shower 6) Every room has a balcony with a view of Pattaya Bay 7) A beautiful glassed in restaurant on the 27th floor with a BEAUTIFUL view of Pattaya from north to south. A buffet breakfast, included in price of the room, is served there every morning. 8) Has one of the only, if not the only, glassed in elevator which is very interesting to the ladies since most have never ridden in one 9) Very nice pool area on 5th floor which is usually very quiet with a very nice view out to Pattaya Bay. 10) Near many new beer bars on Soi 2, Big C, Sabailand Massage, short walk to Soi 6, etc. 11) To get to the beach, just cross Beach Road. 12) A family Mart at the end of the driveway of the hotel 13) Hotel has it's own spa 14) Close to many different ethnic restaurants. No baht bus needed 15) The restaurant on top is a nice place to bring a companion to watch a sunset and have a cold drink. Also, the restaurant is a nice place for dinner, romantic or otherwise. Very reasonable prices. Many nights they have a duo playing music for dancing. 16) Near several currency exchange booths 17) Quiet at night 18) Rooms have good air conditioning. You can leave it on while you go out. 19) They have an exercise room with different types of exercise equipment which is not crowded 20) Good cable reception with quite a few channels I stay for a month every year for the last eight years.
  17. Dear laffnliv: I wasn't going to write about the Mark-Land because it is already to popular. I stay one month (end of November to end of December) every year. I stayed at a different hotel one time in 9 years and always wind up at the Mark-Land. Why: 1) Nice size room 2) Bathtub/shower 3) Clean 4) Good air conditioning 5) Nice pool area and never noisy or crowded 6) Exercise room with weights and machines 7) Every room has a balcony with a view of Pattaya Bay 8) They have a very nice restaurant on the top (27th floor) that is glassed in. Every morning they have the breakfast buffet and it is a nice view from North to South. For happy hour it is a nice place for a drink and watch the sunset. For dinner the restaurant is very good and VERY reasonable. Never crowded. Many nights they have music. A lovely setting for dinner with a companion of your choice. 9) VERY guest friendly. 10) The hotel is almost on the beach. Only Beach Road seperates it. 11) Close to Soi 2 12) Close to Big C and the theaters 13) Maybe the only hotel in Pattaya that has a glass elevator. Many of the lovely Thai ladies have never ridden in one so the first time is an interesting experience for them. 14) Easy to get a baht bus 15) Money exchange booth just a few feet away 16) Very nice outdoor restaurant next door (I think Hemingways?) 17) Short walk to Soi 6 18) Has a Family Mart right at the end of the driveway of the hotel so you can always get something if you need it without having to go very far 19) There are food vendors very near so you can get a cheap snack at night 20) The hotel has it's own Spa. I have never tried it yet. I really hate writting a good review of the Mark-Land but since I have learned so much from this board that when members ask questions about things I know about I feel that I should share. So, if other people ask about the Mark-Land tell them it is no good and they shouldn't consider staying there. I book through one particular travel company in Bangkok and get a very good rate. I book early though.
  18. There was a restaurant on the second floor, if memory serves me, of the Royal Garden Mall that had grills in the table. It was on the same side of the mall as the Sizzle only one floor above. You ordered a meat and/or fish platter and it came with different vegatables that you cooked yourself. It was on the right hand side of the mall if you were facing 2nd Road. I don't know if it is still there or not. The grill used charcoal. The wait staff would get it started and you cooked the food the way you wanted it done.

  20. In Pattaya - Mark-Land Hotel Soi 1
  21. Thanks to you all. My friend is flying out from Sacramento California. He might spring for the $800 - $900 for Evergreen Deluxe but he said when he checked it was around $2,000USD. I don't remember if that was EVA's website. If you use Travelocity, Orbitz, etc. I don't think you can specify Evergreen Deluxe. He is considering towards the end of January 2005 and into February. I will inform him of the info. Keep sending it in since he still has about 2 weeks before he has to part with the cash and buy the ticket.
  22. My friend wants to travel to Bangkok in February of 2005. He has been looking at EVA for that period and found that for Evergreen Deluxe it around $2,000USD. Are there any reliable U.S. travel agencies that can get him a better deal? There doesn't seem to be any other airline that has the "Evergreen" class of service. It is either business class or steerage class. My friend is a bigger person and economy seats for 13 or 13 hours are killers. He doesn't want to pay business class prices but he would be willing to pay a little more for the comfort. It seems to me that a few years ago, a number of members were recommending an agency in the middle of the country or east coast called angel's or the name of the person was angel. I tried briefly to look this up in the archives but was not able to find the thread of conversations. Any information for my friend will be helpful. He is ready to book his flight.
  23. travelingfox: I told myself I wasn't going to recommend this hotel because it has become to popular. Also, somebody had a bad experience and gave it a bad review which I hoped would make it easier to book. But I remember how glad I was to stay at this certain hotel the first time I stayed in Pattaya. I always stay at the Mark-Land on Soi 1. This is my opinion only. My reasons: 1) Every room has a balcony with a view of the ocean. 2) The rooms the last 7 years run me about 1,100 Baht through Ultima Travel, I stay from the end of November to the latter part of December. 3) The hotel has a beautiful glassed-in restaurant on the 27th floor. Breakfast is included and it has a beautiful view of Pattaya from north to south. Also, it is a nice place to take a companion for a drink and watch a sunset. The food at night is very good and amazingly not crowded. They sometimes have live music. 4) They have a glass elevator from the lobby to the floors, all the way up to 27th. Many Thai ladies have never ridden in a glass elevator and it is enjoyable to watch their faces as the elevator goes to the top. 5) The hotel is extremely guest friendly. 6) The standard rooms are big. 7) The air-conditioning works well and will stay on when you go out. It is not the type of hotel that you have to have the key inserted for the air to work, i.e. Penthouse. 8) Any problems and the staff is very attentive to take care of it. 9) Not noisy so you can sleep. 10) Near Big C. 11) A number of bars have opened at Soi 1 and 2nd Road, so no problem with having a good time at the north end of Pattaya. 12) Near Sabiland and Susie's if you like massages. 13) At the end of the driveway of the hotel is a Family Mart so you can stock up on drinks and munchies very easily. 14) Green Tree outdoor restaurant is next door. 15) No problem getting a Baht Bus. 16) Nice clean bathroom. At least this has been my experience. Good water pressure, hot water, etc. I usually stay on the 10th floor. 17) Currency exchange booth very close to hotel. 18) They have several elevators besides the glass one. 19) Nice pool. The deck looks out over Pattaya Bay and sometimes seems to blend into one. The pool is well maintained and hardly anyone uses it. It is on the 5th floor. The view is very nice. 20) They have an exercise room, if that is your thing. 21) I believe they have a sauna also. 22) They have a whole spa treatment and program it you want to be pampered and scrubbed. The only drawback I ever have is when a group of Korean/Chinese/Japanese are checking in or out. Then the elevators get full. It is a hassel for about 10 minutes and then the problem goes away. You don't see these loads of tours because they all get on big buses and go other places so the hotel is quite. These are some of the reasons I stay at the Mark-Land and will continue to stay there. I hope the rest of you don't believe me and think the price is to high. The hotel is already getting to hard to make reservations and I don't need the competition. I know this board is to help and since this is your first time I am writing this to give you another option. Please don't tell anyone else. ajweiss1@hotmail.com
  24. I told myself I wouldn't post another recommendation for the Mark-Land on Soi 1 because it has gotten to popular. But since this is a board where I have gotten a lot of information over the years, I can't not respond without a guilty conscience. I like the Mark-Land very much. It is at the north end of Pattaya. The rooms are large and very clean and so are the bathrooms. I have only stayed in the standard rooms on the 10th floor. Each room has good air con, a refrigerator, plenty of closet space. Ask for an odd number room because every room has a balcony. The odd number rooms have a balcony with a north to south view of Pattaya. The even numbered rooms have a north view. There is a beautiful glassed in restaurant on the top floor (27th) where the buffet breakfast is served. It is a beautiful place to take a companion for a drink and a view of the sunset. At night they have a lady singer in the restaurant and it is never crowed. The food and service is very good. The rate is around 1,100 Baht depending on when you go. They have a very nice pool area on the 5th or 6th floor. Very clean and never crowed or noisy. The pool area overlooks Pattaya Bay. I have had the pleasure of bringing back two companions at a time and never had a hassel or paid a joiner fee. Big C is near there and up the soi at Beach Road they have a new complex of several beer bars. I stay there a month from late November to the middle of December every year. I don't think I would stay anywhere else. Please don't stay there and tell everyone else not to also. I don't need the competiton for the rooms. ajweiss1
  25. As my esteemed webmate jimmac wrote, the Mark-Land is a good place to stay. It fits all your requirements except for the in room safe. I have never had a problem with using their safe deposit boxes in the lobby. The Mark-Land has: 1) Nice swimming pool with a beautiful view of Pattaya Bay. 2) Nice size rooms. 3) Very Clean. 4) Nice size bathroom with tub. 5) Good air conditioning. 6) Nice restaurant on the 27th floor with a killer view of Pattaya from North to South. 7) Quiet. 8) No Guest Fees. 9) Exercise room. 10) Friendly Staff. 11) Near Big C, beer bars, GoGo's, Restaurants. 12) Almost on the beach. 13) Each room has a balcony with a view of Pattaya Bay. 14) A glass elevator which a number of the lovely ladies have never ridden in. They love it. 15) It seems like they get quite a few channels on the tv. These are some of the reasons I like staying at the Mark-Land for a month. ajweiss1@hotmail.com
