Shit hole hotel, but for some reason i always stay for the 1/2 nights i have to spend in BK. The location more than makes up for the old worn rooms. Larry, i think thats the first time i have ever heard a septic use the word "cunt" Respect!

Im sure some peole dont like football, but the world cup is a universal event, the biggest sporting competition in the world. An example, i was in samui a few years back and 2 beer bars, side by side. One was showing the rugby world cup, one wasnt. The one with that was showing was absoulutely jammed, it was an open air bar, and you could not even get close enough to order a drink. The next bar had only fools and horses on, and did not have a customer, i went to this bar simply cos i could not get close enough to the other, ordered a drink and watched the game from a seat in this empty bar. You look at plases like rosy o gradys when england are playing in the cup, you could not move its so packed.

It was 600bht a couple of years ago, nice enough hotel, nice bar, pool. I did notice that American servicemen who were staying at the hotel did not seem to have to pay the joiner fee, they were staying in the poolside villas, not the main block. This could also be said about the royal garden as well, they seemed to be able to bring guests back without paying the joiner fee

I was in the same position last year, waited, waited and prices went up, and then down, then up again, finally booked in november for around 600 quid with air france. traveling about the 14th of December. Am looking to go myself this year around the 15/16th, but prices are silly, only Aeroflot under the 600 mark, eva and Thai 800+ and i would rather walk than go with Aeroflot Have looked at 24/25/26 of December myself, and prices are cheaper, Eithad keep cropping up for around 560, i am sure i have seen Emirates as well on boxing day for about 570 somewhere, i think it was Expedia. If you can go the 27/28th Eva are available for around 600.

If you can get the Marina at a price you are comfortable with, i think it might be ideal for you.

http://www.marinaphuket.com/ Stayed here twice, very nice, landscaped gardens, excellent restaraunts, about 5 mins in a taxi from patong, bars shops etc 2 mins walk. There was not any beer bars close by when i stayed. Might be able to get at a cheaper rate if you look at some of the agents.

I went last christmas with them, and pre booked the seats when i paid for the ticket,so call your agent and ask them. If you are going from birmingham, make sure you are not over on your baggage allowance, the bastatrds charged me 250 quid, and the fat ugly bitch at checkin had such a smirk on her face when asking me to cough up, it took all my mettle to stop myself having her by the throat. Have never experienced customer service like it in my life, would not fly from birmingham again if you paid me to.

Mofo, six insults in your post, and before you start bleating again, ask yourself a question, would you speak to someone in this manner if they were stood in front of you? You cannot expect to lob insults like the ones above and not expect a reaction, the world does not operate this way. You hijacked a perfectly valid thread, and now come across as the injured party? You cant knock thai in my opinion, i know they can be expensive if you dont catch the offers, but they keep the beer flowing, etc.

I was also not impressed the first and only time i have flown. Ended up next to a women with a sqawking baby the whole return leg, and what really did it for me was after the meal i was still starving and asked the stewardess for an extra meal, "sorry sir, but the plane is full and we have non extra" I looked around at the empty seats and then back at her, and asked if she was joking. She then took the piss and offered me a dry bread roll?? I usually manage to sleep most of the journey from the uk anyway, a few stellas at heathrow and im well away, save the extra money for grumble.

From my experience, the Marriot, the Amari, and the Royal Cliff, all had the same policy when i stayed. Package tourists who had booked with the agent in the UK, all got collared for the joiner fee. Myself, i had walked up the desk and asked them outright and was told that if you book a double room, no joiner fee will be applied. Probably cost as much in the long run, but it does save the hassle.
