  1. If you mean she is asking for 25k US Dollars, then the answer will be.
  2. Totally agree Nico. If you listen to the currency experts on say Bloomberg, one will say they are bullish about the £ and 15 minutes later another will forecast the opposite. If anyone knew for sure, they would not need to work. Everyone has a different opinion on where the baht is headed. Mine is that it has risen sharply because the Thai government keeps raising interest rates to try and curb inflation. Once this stops, I predict it will weaken and we will see 75 to the £ again. I hope.
  3. I always recommend this hotel, having stayed there a couple of years ago. A friend of mine took my advise and atayed there for a week a month ago. He had no complaints at all, but while visiting him, I noticed some building work going on at the back of the swimming pool. I'm not sure I would want to stay there for the next few months.
  4. Cancel your reservation, its a shithole. I went there on my first trip to Pattaya 5 years ago. First night I took a gogo girl back and was told I would have to pay 500 baht guest fee. As I was paying the same rate for a single room as a double room, I informed them that I would be checking out in the morning. Also, it is too far from everywhere and you need to take taxi's to and from.

  6. There is a small place on soi Buakhao opposite soi honey called Taste of India. It hardly ever gets any customers which is usually a bad sign. However, the chicken curry (70 baht) is very nice and the chapatis (10 baht each) are as good as I've tasted anywhere. I tried Neeroys once and thought it was crap, but maybe it was an off day.
  7. No it wasn't. I have just listened to both songs, as I have the CD. On Dragostea Din Tei, they sing numa yeah, but on Despre tine, its la lu la la yeah. :frustrated
  8. The Flippers are guest friendly. Refuse to pay extra.
  9. For 7-10,000 baht a month you will get a decent studio condo with aircon. You will have to pay electric and water in addition. My electric bill is about 1,000 and water 300. There are many places on soi Buachao such as Diana estate,Sutus court,VM terrace etc. These places all have swimming pools and restuarants. If you dont need a pool, check out soi Metro which have lots of new built guest houses. There was a good review on here about Lilo Lils.
  10. Lad, Without telling us how much you have, or want to spend it is difficult for anyone to offer advice. If you want to spend 5-10,000 baht a month I would suggest soi Buachao area.
  11. Raven, I am currently spending about 50,000 a month. I have a wife and kid to support, but go out drinking 3 times a week. We eat out almost every day. If I lived alone, I could live on 20,000 but not sure I would be happy with that lifestyle. Internet only costs 30 baht an hour in soi Buakhao area, but can be as much as 120 down on beach road.
  12. I would forget about Bangkok. Pattaya is cheaper and far nicer. You will need to stay in a cheap area of town such as soi Buakhao (where I live) or even up on Jomtien beach. I hope you like noodles as you will need to eat plenty of them at 20 baht a time on your budget. Good luck.
  13. I've been using the Nationwide Flex card for about 3 years now.It is also useful to transfer money to and from their E-savings account, which pays 4.75 per cent gross.
  14. Although the markets are cheaper, I prefer to shop at Mikes shopping mall. They have a good selection and the quality is better. I paid 2200 baht for my Nikes.
  15. The water on Pattaya beach is filthy. Jomtien is not much better. Better off spending the day at the Water park. At least there you can relax without somebody trying to sell you something every 30 seconds.
  16. I doubt whether any of the condos would have UBC. I pay 1500 a month for mine. They all have sophon however. No DVDs as far as I know. I usually spend about 1000 per month on electric and 400 on water, but if you use the aircon a lot the bill will be quite a bit higher.I think the electric is about 3-4 baht per unit used.
  17. I stayed at the Hua hin Grand hotel. It is a very nice hotel with a good swimming pool and good location not far from the restuarants and shops. I think I paid 1000 per night.
  18. The Diana Estate is excellent value with 2 swimming pools and free use of the gym. The main letting agent there is called ProPro. They have quite a lot of rooms for about 8,000. Also the Diana Milenium House have a few rooms on the estate to rent.
