  1. Wow. Thanks for all the info. This is going to be a better trip than I thought. And I thought that Pattaya ended at 2nd Rd . I like the idea of Monkey Island, but I thought it was in Phuket or Phang Nga Province. Is there another one around Pattaya.
  2. Thanks for all the great tips. I didn't know about the Tiger Zoo. Is it really possible to feed a baby tiger. My Daughter would be in heaven. And yes, at night Mom will be babysitting while I head to Walking St. with my 2 brothers.
  3. I have so many frequent flier miles from all my trips to Pattaya, that I have enough to bring my Daughter and my Mom to Thailand for free. Of course we will stay in Jomtien instead of Pattaya, and my Mom is very open minded. I'm looking for activities, and trips to take my Daughter. Somehow I don't think she'll be too thrilled with Walking St . She loves animals, and particularly monkeys, so I wish I had time to go to Phuket, but I don't. Any suggestions.
  4. I'll be there next week, and will post info. If they give me a hard time about anything, I'll simply walk across the street to Sandy Springs or Dynasty. After all; it IS the slow season. I'm using this trip to decide where to spend my next 2 trips in Nov and Dec. I've booked rooms already because I know accomodations get tight, but at least I'll know a lot more after this trip. I've heard about the more that 1 girl rule, and even though I rarely get 2 into bed, sometimes their friends will come over to party after the bars close. The hotel will lose a customer for good if they cause a
  5. Thanks for the reports. One is usually enough (sometimes more than enough ) for me. I've heard that the construction noise has ceased somewhat, but noise doesn't bother me too much anyway.
  6. I booked this a few weeks ago assuming it was, but thought I'd better check to be sure. Also looking for any personal thoughts on it.
  7. I had good reception in the Bella Villa Hotel across from the hospital on 2nd rd. Nice hotel too.
  8. I've been to Carrfore, but I can't remember how I got there. My TG took me there. Can you give general directions from Nana area?
  9. I have the 1 2 sim card that I've used my last 2 times in Thailand, but last time was in May. I've heard they are now requiring registration. Will my phone likely work when I first arrive? I'm meeting a buddy and it will be late at night. He will be trying to get his first sim card at MBK in Bkk earlier in the day. Not sure if this is going to work out too well. We were hoping to hook up that first night so as not to waste a precious party night in Bkk.
  10. Thanks for all the replies. It really helps, and yes I'm well aware that Thanksgiving means nothing outside the US, which is why I gave the specific dates. I was in Phuket last November. It might have been during that holiday. Is that when they make the paper boats with candles and send them out to sea?
  11. Just wondering if this is a difficult time to book a room like xmas week or can I take my time and do a little more research when I get there in Sept.
  12. I'm scheduled to stay there in September, and was wondering if anyone had personal experience. I'ts across from Sandy Springs, and a little newer I think.
  13. I'm one of those paying $1329 on United, but because of my miles and status, I am able to upgrade to business class so it's worth it for me. However, I think the best deal these days is Eva Evergreen deluxe. It's an extra few hundred over their basic fare, but you get a business seat, and best of all you arrive during the day. I hate arriving at 11pm on United, and racing to Nana to try and catch the last of the action.
  14. United will give you vouchers if seat prices come down after buying a ticket. Not sure about other airlines. I always have to book early because I want to upgrade to business class and that inventory dries up fast. I think the best deal these days is Eva Evergreen Deluxe if you want a very comfortable seat for a good price.
  15. Sorry. I haven't posted here in awhile. I'll move it.
  16. I have a trip planned to Bkk, and as usual was planning to stay in Pattaya for a few days. Of course, I quickly found that many hotels are already booked. I'm sure I could find someplace, but I was wondering if maybe the crowds will cramp the fun somewhat. I was there during May, and had a great time, but maybe I should stay in BKK or venture to Phuket again. For those of you that have experienced both hi and low season, what do you think. Are the BG's overconfident, and difficult to get good prices out of? Do you find that there is more competition for the superstars?
  17. I've been hearing of a place across the street from Sandy Springs called the Inn House. Supposed to be newer and has wired internet in rooms, but may be dial up.
  18. According to the Sandy Spring's website, they claim to have internet connections in the room. Anyone know if that's true?
  19. thanks for responses. Wow. The Vault is quite the audiophiles dream and very space age looking. The prices are very reasonable too. It doesn't have internet access in the rooms though. It's not really what I'm looking for anyway. I may stay at the Sandy Springs in spite of no internet. That sounds like the kind of place I'd be comfortable at.
  20. I stayed at the Bella Villa Prima on my virgin voyage to Pattaya last May, and it had internet service in the room, but was hoping for something a little closer to Walking st. It seems hard to find "nicer" hotels in Pattaya. I don't mind paying 2-3K Baht for the right place, but I only seem to find sub 2k Baht hotels or >4k Baht that are not guest friendly. Any ideas? And actually internet in the room is not totally necessary, but a newer modern hotel would likely have it.
  21. I stayed at Majestic Grande when they first opened, and although the rooms were very nice, I felt the service and attitude at the Marriot was a lot better. Having said that though, I may still stay at MG because it's about a 1000 baht cheaper. I also really like the side entrance at the Marriot.
  22. I stayed at the new Majestic Grande 2 months ago in May. It's very nice, maybe a bit nicer than the JW, but the service and food is not as good imo. Also it doesnt' have the side entrance that the Marriott has. I really like that feature. I think I will stay at Marriott next time.
  23. I'm specifically looking for any German Non alcoholic beer (I know..oxymoron). I lost the privilege to drink alcohol many years ago, but still enjoy the taste. Most liquor stores, or places that sell large selections of beers will have it in stock. Anyone know of a place in Pattaya?
  24. Are these the same hotel? They have different websites, but seem to be in the same location. I'm looking for the nicest room in this area. Money is no object
