I was having a look for any “Best Seafood Restaurant” type thread and could not believe how far back I had to go until I found one, and being honest comments or recommendations from that long ago are often pretty useless. I have eaten at number of seafood restaurants in and around Pattaya and Jomtein, though in no way would I claim to be familiar with any of them as I’m not in town often enough and not at all in the last 12 months. I recently read on here re Longbridge Restaurant and have heard of Moom Aroi, also in Naklua. Does any BM have any recent, first hand experience of Moo

My cheap charlie flight. I am flying with Qatar for the first time next month. I was curious before as to the price, if booking in LoS, the same journey but going the other way. I am now surprised that I seem to have got a better deal with Qatar than I thought. I booked in Jan with Lastminute.com, Belfast to Man, then on to BKK with a 2 hour stopover in Doha. Rtn in Economy for £642 / 28,500Tbt. Thats a good price especially as it is including the Belfast to Man flight. Regards,

Soi 1 & Soi 2, Any Construction work & Payment?
python replied to python's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Thanks to you all for the info. I will be there at the start of May so as that time approachs this becomes more relevant. DrPat, I have never been asked to pay anything up front. At time of booking in Jan just past, their website showed the room at 1200Tbt. When I emailed to book I was told 1250Tbt? Had to pay in full upfront, at time of booking to get 1200Tbt internet price! I declined. About 3 - 5 years ago, numerous times, I was able to book 3 or 4 rooms, for me and mates and I was never once asked to even pay a deposit. Who knows what happened, maybe too many guests didn't -
Soi 1 & Soi 2, Any Construction work & Payment?
python replied to python's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
teelak, Thanks for the photo. I can see that it is not near completion so I wonder how many more storeys it has to go and will it, if it does not already, block the sun to the Sabai Lodges Ruen Thai pool area? Also, am I correct in thinking that Classroom Beer Bar and I think Toy Bar ( the bar that always had the very loud rock band, on the corner of Soi 2 & 2nd Rd) Noi Bar and the other bars on 2nd Road, between Soi 2 & Soi 3 have all now gone if this new hotel is fronting on 2nd Road? Soi 1 & Soi 2, Any Construction work & Payment?
python replied to python's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Gents, Thanks for the info. I think it may be easiest to pay cash on arrival for the first 2 nights then take it from there. teelak, I am staying in Sabai Wing and would use the Ruen Thai pool also, or Garden pool I think they now call it, so I hope the noise stops or at least is not to loud. The construction thats is ongoing on Soi 2, I take its on the area that was covered by the now demolished beer bars, between Classroom beer bar and the big Thai pub with the car park to the front? is the work nearly finished as it must have been a year since they started? I look forw -
Gents, Curious to know if there are any on going long term construction sites or any construction imminent on Soi 2 but especially on Soi 1? Is the big development between Soi 2 & 3 now complete? Also. anyone who checked in or out recently. Did you pay in full when they swiped your card on check in? I normally stay on 4th or 5th floor of Sabai Wing so the height etc helps with noise. I stayed here many time but I am concerned as I expect to be compelled to pay in full on arrival then the thought of being subjected to excessive noise, wishing to leave and drama with ref

Thought I'd share my recent experience regards booking the Sabai Wing online. I am sure its the same for Sabai Lodge. I know Sabai Inn is different. I have stayed in Sabai Lodge/Wing maybe 18 times over the last 7 years or so. So, obviously I like the place. Never had any probs or been asked for any money up front on booking. Last week I emailed Sabai Lodge to confirm availability at advertised web price of 1200Tbt for Deluxe Pool View. My email was answered promptly confirming availability and that the price would be 1250Tbt per night and 1250Tht for my late checkout. Previosly a

Not sure what you mean Fatboyfat? I just thought flights, location, backround, surely would sift trolls, etc?

MM & Gents, Sorry if this has been asked before, but, what was the the reasoning behind the decision to remove the flag from beneath the posters name when posting? I thought it useful to know what part of the world a poster/question came from, as maybe relevant to reply. Regards to all,

UK Channel 4 Report on Thailand's Roads
python replied to CheshireTom's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I read this before and was surprised initialy by lack the of experience of roads and or driving in Thailand, but then I remembered that the families that started their campaign in the UK have probably never been in in LoS and have no idea as to how cheap road death is i LoS. So, thinking how Thai's drive as they do, is this such a surprise? For example, recently, I learned a lot from my Thai minibus driver, Hua Hin to Pattaya, 6hrs each way. Early November in Bangkok, the rain showers got extremely heavy. Rain bouncing knee high and slip roads flooding. Low visibility. Forget -
I have flown with Eva a few times and they are good. Very good. I thought the food was poor but they are new planes, great entertainment, and in my experience, reliable. I live in Belfast and Eva means a night in London for me on the return because of late arrival. Thai is my preference. Thai flights from BKK can arrive early in the morning and this means an easier connection for me. Equats to an extra day in LoS as opposed to some shit hotel near LHR and avoids an early rise after my last night! I've done some stop-over flights, usually with Emirates, and they are also a great a

Flood Impact on Supplies
python replied to Cookie Monster's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Hi, I just got this sent to me and it seemed to be on topic: Beer Supplies Regards, -
Hi, As others advise, and I agree, take it to Sarah. She repaired a watch for me and it that had a weight come of the auto winding part. Also, I remember she kept the links if you asked her to shorten a bracelet. I thinks she would be the best bet. She, rather the son fixed mine for a few hundred baht. just ask first ref cost. Regards,

Getting back to the original post..... I am surprised that the police took any notice and actually bothered to act. Obviously the Tourist Police on Walking Street. A couple of years ago I was seated in the Toy Bar, the bar on the corner of Soi 2 that blasts the terrible rock music out from their band. Not a usual place I frequent. Three middle aged falangs, standing at the bar are having a conversation that is getting heated. The middle guy gesticulates. I spot, a very real looking, what I knew to be a Colt 45 pistol in his waste band. I thought fuck! Their conversation carries

Monkeyman, Where exactly is this condo block being built on Soi 1? I know that if I go onto Soi 1 from Sabai Wing, it could not be opposite me and to the right is the Sabai Wing building work i have already mentioned and to the left that condo block was completed two years ago! So surely any other ongoing building work must be some distance away?

Just to inform any that be considering travelling to or from Pattaya to Hua Hin. The minibus leaves Hua Hin every 2 hours from 0800 to 1800, and from Pattaya. I assume every day. No pre booking required and costs 400Tbt each way. Though I bought my return ticket at the same time as I planned to ask the driver to pick me up at the hotel on Soi 1 on return. He agreed to this and that was helpful. I later realised he would have collected me in Hua Hin as my hotel was passed enroute. I set off from HH at 1200 on a Friday, a couple of weeks ago. Scheduled stops are Bangna, Chonburi, Bang

I tell u what, don't flatter yourself! you just ignore my posts. I think that would be best. You simply bore me. I believe if more BM's adopted this attitude then perhaps you would not feel obliged to comment on every post. Maybe, after some time, you would understand that there is no requirement for your comment. I believe many would welcome this thought! Regards,

Well, you are being a cunt, your word, get a life, though, not that I care. But cunts, like you, don't help. This is my first attempt to post photos. Glad I bothered. I accept that this board and others like it are the highlight of your day, so jacko, just ignore my posts. Hate to bore you.

I know that other BM's as are interested in this hotel I am, so I will try to post a few pics I took only last week: The hotel really does seem to be on the up. I just hope the local area is also. The building with the scaffolding, beside the pool, is the extension to the Sabai Wing on Soi 1. Noise minimal. I heard nothing. Look at the guys on the scaffold at the top of the building! Regards,

Soi 2, Last Sunday, Hope it works this time! At last, I'm posting photos!! Only took me over 6 years to bother! For those interested, I will try to post photos of the building work around Sabai Lodge and the new "Garden Pool" that was previously the Ruen Thai pool. It is a great improvement. Pool is the same just renamed, new bar(open) and restuarant(opening soon) and the whole pool sun lounger area is much bigger, as the chalets have gone and entire pool area has been resurfaced. Regards.
