  1. I wouldn't like to be self isolating in anything small, let alone a studio. Fast way to madness.
  2. I was never a fan of the condo life. They are often small, cramped and too close to others who can make your life misserable. I have lived in a condo in Pattaya for short periods of time, never paying more than 12,000 pm in rent for a 6 month contract. Now, I'm reading a lot of posts on other forums of people paying upwards of 30K for a less that 60 sqm condo. Is it me or is that crazy? I live in my own house (commany owned) that is 200 sq m, and similar houses near me are being rented out for 35K pm, which for a 3 bed house with a private pool is understandable. Why would anyone wish t
  3. Can you get a good vintage port outside BKK? I have never seen it anywhere in Thailand and with blue cheese, its perfect.
  4. Thanks for that. For me, it's that very dry, almost desicating effect that I like and find very refreshing, especially when drunk with food, but I know that it's not for everyone.
  5. They say that the disecerning wine drinker always ends up preferring red wine, but I just can't get on wth it. White for me every time, preferrably champagne, if i can afford it, if not, a nice crisp dry will do.
  6. we didn't have fuel saving incentives in my airline, which was built originally around a worldwide logistics and cargo business. I think customer service become a mantra for our owners, translated from their marine business. It still seems to work nowadays. Other, mainly 'old world' airlines don't seem to have that commitment , or the history of being top 5 in another industry, before developing an airline. But as my past employers pay my pension, I may be a tad biased. ?
  7. I had the great pleasure to Captain B777s for 8 years. Sitting in a jet stream can be extremely uncomfortable for the passengers and our company policy (an Asian Airline) was to request a cruising level clear of a tail wind JS after a max of 20 minutes. This was not always possible, but was a better bet than subjecting passengers to hours of uncomfortable travel, with the possibility of no cabin service. I understand from former colleagues that this is not the [policy of BA, or other transatlantic operators.
  8. I guess that because I live here now, so have my own house to chill and get out of the heat, the atrraction of a mall, any mall, is just not there anymore. I avoid them whenever possible.
  9. Yes, I get the brand recognition , but how many big brand shops get the foot fall, especially in Pattaya with its visitor demographic? I don't think that I have set foot in a branded shop for many, many years and they always seem empty whenever I look in them here. So not sure that the branding argument is actually working in LOS, certainly not enough to justify the costs of maintaining mall outlets. Looking at what has happened to the older malls in Pattaya, I can't see them being sustainable.
  10. Just how many more 'high end' malls can Pattaya take? T21 may be a step too far, as the traffic issues at that end of the City are horrendous most of the time and the mall appears to be not that popular mid week. How the shops are making any kind of profit is beyond me, but the City Fathers seems intent on saturating the City with ever more malls. Will it stop any time soon?
