1600bht Aitport to Pattaya - Sound About Right?
carcareers replied to Seapix's topic in Meeting - Cost sharing
I have always gotten one from Suk (not the airport) for B1000 plus tolls. Taxi's near downtown are a little more desperate for the $$$$. -
Residence Garden, Dynasty Inn, Flipper Lodge etc. Many gal friendly hotels....don't ever pay joiner fee's!
-
How do you really feel Kit? Don't sugarcoat it! Laundry across the street is much cheaper and the gal working there is very nice and friendly. I have stayed at RG many times and find it to be a very nice place to stay for the $$$. Some road noise, just close the balcony door as already posted...No problem. A word of caution! Be very careful in the shower, the tile floor when wet is like standing on ice. I slipped and fell once and was very lucky not to be badly hurt. Ib should really look into putting something on the floor other than the slippery tile! As for the distance away from the action.......10 minute VERY HOT WALK! I have never had a problem getting a baht bus to the action or returning at all times of the day and night.

Saw this on another board and think it was proven false. They have already priced themselves out of the market in my opinion though!

Is Dynasty Inn a good choice?
carcareers replied to masq's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
The Dynasty on the hill near the radio station: 1. VERY girl friendly! 2. Not walkable in the heat, many moto taxi's and B busses 5-10 minute ride. 3. Rooms are OK. No safes in rooms. Very quiet. Pool is fantastic. Food is also very, very good. Dynasty in BKK SUCKS! -
Yeah thats it......was there in 2001! LOL, 3 years and many beers later....brain damage and the blues have taken over.
-
They also have the condo's on 3rd road right across the street from the huge beer bar complex. This is the one that I stayed at for 30 days. They are mostly privately owned condo's I think. Diana Inn manages them, thats how they got me on the phone and elec surcharges. The ones on 3rd raod have 2-3 buildings, 2 pools and great parking if you have a car or moto. Its calledn "Diana Estates"

If it's in your budget the rooms aren't really too bad at all. Suites have 2 tv's etc.....Just saying be very careful and try and negotiate your phone and electricity in advance. They only pay like B4 per K hour and just raped me on the surchareges....both phone and electricity! Also do not trust security...even though they take ID's the guards are to lazy to check them on the way out or they will take a bribe from the lady leaving to get past them. Also many "freelancers" will carry phony ID's if they plan on ripping you off. I had a large boom box stolen...no real loss as I planned on giving it to a TG anyway when leaving, just pissed me off that the gal just "strolled" past security! You can buy bottled water cheap next door...across the street are several really good laundry's also. 2 pools are in good shape with very little useage and they are "lady" friendly! It is off the beaten path for the baht busses, but easy enough to figure out. When leaving take the busses going left....when returning you have to go to 2nd road across from the police box up from walking street, or pay the mafia jerks. All in all the place would be ok for a 3 week stay as long as you are aware of the above. Have fun!

I stayed there for 30 days in 2001. They ripped me off big time on both the phone and electricity about B15000. No in room safes. Also had a freelancer rip me off for some really stupid shit in my room, nothing worth much but she had to carry it right past security, they would have had to see it and just let her keep on going. I would pass on the place!

Dynasty Resort question
carcareers replied to Cumcannon's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
It is off the route by about 200 yards and late at night can be very difficult to get a baht bus to town. When returning you will almost always have to hire your own baht bus to get you back to the hotel. They have moto taxi's on the corner where the baht buses stop also if you like to live on the edge. I have stayed at the dynasty many times...they are off my list now. Last visit the "free shuttle" bastard tried to hook me for 60 baht ride to town. Rooms have no e-safes etc. You can get a nicer room and service at Residence Garden for b400 more a night and be right on the baht bus route! And much closer to the action. I have walked back to RG from FLB bar sometimes at night when the regular baht buses are not frequent i.e, 4am and it is not a bad walk at night when its cooler. I walked cause i despise the mafia taxi in both pattaya and bkk. -
I will share a taxi with you. I am staying at the President Solitaire, Soi 11 and will be going for a couple days.
-
Emil, I am staying at the President Solitaire Soi 11 and would shhare a ride with you. I will only be going for a couple days.

Special rate offered to Nanapongers for BKK5 star
carcareers replied to Floyd's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
You're math is certainly better than mine, only now i'm even more bummed....lol. I am back in the states now and just not worth my time trying to deal with the GP people ever again. They acted like an upstairs Patpong bar...who cares if he ever comes back, lets steal all we can tonight. Good luck to anyone else staying at GP properties. -

My room at the Solitare was just a large room not an apartment. It was large with a nice sitting area, sofa and desk, small kitchen area, fridge, stove, plates and silverware. Bathroom was large with seperate tub and shower. I paid the B2450 per night PLUS the 10% "Service Charge". The "deal" was supposed to be B2450 inclusive of service charge or B15,900 per week inclusive. I was charged B2450 X 14 nights PLUS B245 per night service charge. Basically they ripped me for an additional B375 per night. Same exact scenario happened at Grand President stay for 2 weeks. Both times it was at checkout in the early AM when I beleive they know you have no recourse. By the way, the afternoon before checking out of Solitare I went to the front desk and asked for a complete copy of my bill, waited 30 minutes with no results and was told they would slip a copy under my door before the night was over which never happened. -

I just returned from 2 weeks at Solitare. My observations....GET THE QUOTE IN WRITING! I obtained the B2450 per night (over the phone) which was a total hassle. After 5 phone calls they finally agreed to the B2450 rate per night and I thought all was fine. NOT, when checking out I was presented a bill with the B2450 per night plus 10% service charges etc. Would not have been a big deal on a 2-3 night stay, but 14 nights added up to quite a bit. When trying to explain, of course all I got was the blank stares and "cannot"! I said call Khun Kwan, "cannot"! I said look at the rate quoted on the web site, "cannot"! cannot, cannot, cannot was total B***SHI* trying to check out. Having said that, if you can get the rate guaranteed in writing the place is absolutely wonderful. Rooms are all new, 42" plasma TV is great, maids are beutiful, smile all the time cleaning the rooms, security GREAT, food and room service excellent. Location a bit of a pain in the heat of the day or when raining but taxi's run right outside (careful of the mafia taxi in front). Lastly on the high speed internet service, my laptop does not have a LAN card so they rented me a wireless card at B150 per day, came to my room and got it all up and running and it was actually slower then using dial-up access. So if you don't have a LAN card get one or use dial-up is my suggestion. I return to LOS next month and will not be staying at Solitare again or any other President property (I stayed at GP for 2 weeks also) Same hassles on trying to book rates and billing problems when checking out. I normally stay at Centre Pointe and wanted to try something new this trip.....Back to Centre Pointe for me. In my 6 trips and probably 120 nights at Centre Pointe over the last 2 years I have never encoutered "CANNOT" only "yes sir, yes we can, yes we will", and the billing has never been off by a single satang! -
Question to anyone staying at the R.G.
carcareers replied to Leadbelly's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I am able to sleep in until about 10 every morning (with the help af Jim Beam) The hammering starts pretty early so depends how light a sleeper you are. What seems to be worse is the water delivery truck that comes 3-4 times a day and blasts his damn horn for what seems hours. Construction is also taking place across the street but the road traffic drowns most of that out. -

Cueently staying at RG and the construction to the rear is going on everyday. Appears to be half finished.
