Price is subjective to many factors, least of which is where in the US do you plan to fly from. Where in the US are you planning to fly from in order to get to BKK?
-
I knew someone would know it. I just knew they were a heck of a lot less than they could cram in there. You hear anything about SQ wanting to ditch their A345s for the B772LR? I've just heard SQ isn't happy with the performance of the A345 and it's not meeting what Airbus profered.
-
Well, technically speaking, it is non-stop. I know, you're saying it stops in Japan, and it does. The technical part is it keeps the same flight number, LAX-NRT-BKK is the same flight number as opposed to LAX-NRT having a flight number and NRT-BKK having a different flight number.
-
That is correct. I have seen the TG press release but can't recall the exact numbers. I think SQ's A345s have 150 seats and TG's A345s will have 180 seats.

Airlines give a X number of tickets to consolidators to sell at a certain booking class. They also give themselves X number of tickets at certain booking class. When the cheap fares are sold-out they move to the next booking class, resulting in higher prices. In other words, EVA has sold their allotment of cheap fares and have gone up to the next higher class while the consolidators still have unsold cheap fares.

Try this out: Angel Travel Send them an email with your dates and they should be able to help. Also, I went to the EVA Air website and looked at February's Evergreen Deluxe prices and was quoted $900 all-in. I booked my upcoming ticket at EVA's website and got an additional 5,000 FF miles.

Well, sometime in 2005 for sure. I think it highly unlikely it will be as soon as February. TG isn't scheduled to receive the A345 until March or April (unless you've seen something I haven't) and then they'll fly intra-Asia for a month or so to get their crews trained (like Singapore Airlines did). I suspect it will be late summer to early fall until we see direct flights US-BKK-US. It was suposed to coincide with the opening of the new BKK airport in fall 2005 but they probably will not make that deadline. It's looking like we'll see LAX and NYC only flights as TG is only getting a c

While NWA has taken a regular beating here I guess I'm the only (?) person who prefers them...? Here's some reasons why- 1-UNLIMITED upgrades to first class on domestic flights for 'silver elites'-easy to get status. I've been upgraded 80% of the time. Not a bad reason for folks who do a lot of "domestic" flying. 2-Cheap fares. For what ever reason, they are consisently the cheapest fare when when I fly--I fly 3x per year--Late May, Early Sept, and use miles at XMas. I have no idea. Do you fly from MSP? 3-Their scheduling. Yes, leaving at 6am(!) is a REAL bitch BUT th

I take it you are referring to PTVs (personal TVs) and the answer is, like always with TG, who knows. I would say the answer will be yes as TG said they planned to offer PTVs and AVOD (audio/video on demand) when they put in their new seats. We'll just have to wait and see.

Tom, Taking delivery in 2008 isn't because of the new airport problems. The A380 doesn't enter service until 2006 (without any delays getting it certified) and TG is down on the list of airlines that have ordered the plane. Too bad it won't be operated by TG to/from the States.
-
No, if the new airport opens late, so be it. They will fly the routes when they get the aircraft.

I updated my post re: TG and non-stops to the US. For those who like to fly EVA, they're replacing almost all of their 747s that fly to/from the US with new 777-300ERs. Expect to see service with the 773ER at LAX, SFO, EWR, and SEA late 2005 (around the same time as TG). The EWR-TPE-EWR route will no longer stop in SEA. The plane will seat 316 passengers: 42 in Business Class, 63 in Evergreen Deluxe and 211 in Economy.

I just bought a RT ticket LAX-BKK-LAX on EVA in Evergreen Deluxe for under $900 all-in. Why anyone would want to fly coach for the same price, or more, is beyond me. I'm sure some folks in the States will say they don't live near LAX, but EVA also flies from SFO, NYC, and SEA. You have to connect somewhere and I think you're better off flying Southwest, JetBlue, and the like cheap to one of these hubs then connecting onwards.

I tell folks these days the best thing to do is buy airline tickets with a credit card. If the airline goes out of business before you fly, not out of the question in today's financial environment, you won't have to pay. If you didn't pay with a credit card, did you go through a travel agent? You ay want to go back and see about switching airlines.

I guess you're flying from PHX, so you'll probably send up at LAX, SFO, or SEA. In that case, I'd spend the same amount of money and go with EVA to BKK in Evergreen Deluxe. The best prices are available on their website. There are 2 specials right now. One is for business class (LAX-BKK-LAX for under $2,000 all-in) and the other is Evergreen Deluxe (same route for under $900 all-in). I like EVA from LAX because of their departure times. I can work my shift, jump in the car and drive to the airport, get checked in by 11pm for the 1am flight. Coming back, BKK-LAX, I take the 5pm flight

TG is working on several non-stops to/from the US and BKK. I have a partial list but no announced start dates. I have seen: LAX SFO ORD NYC (probably EWR) I'll have to update this when I see more. These are the routes that their A345s will fly (that's Airbus 340-500) when they get them in 2005/2006. Update: Deleted Seattle and Houston from a list of possibles. TG isn't interested in these routes. They will add service to the others listed above. It seems TG is trying to get these routes spun up in time for the opening of the new BKK airport (late 2005). Also,

I have flown KE many times before, but only twice to/from BKK. I like KE. The planes are not old and the service is great. I only like KE, not love. The bad thing is their flights and layovers to/from the US are absolutely ridiculous. I try to spend as much time in the LOS as I can and 12 hour layovers at Incheon and 2AM departures from BKK are not worthwhile. Where are you at in the States?
-
I'm not sure what you're referring to, but if you're talking about in the daytime seeing a small piece of metal that looks like it wraps from under the front and runs up the front...then that's used to hold night vision goggles (NVGs). As it transitions to night, you place your NVGs onto the holder but have them flipped in an up position until you're ready to use them.

Is anyone else waiting for prices to drop
echster replied to ting_tong's topic in Airline Discussion
BigD, Was messing around on the EVA webpage and a RT ticket in Evergreen Deluxe to/from LAX can be had in early September for $700 and change. All, Ticket prices are mostly based on supply and demand. Tickets in summer and around holidays are expensive because that's when folks like to travel and kids are out of school. Tickets in spring and fall are cheaper because kids are back in school and the parents are working. -
In the States, I like to use Angel Travel for my tickets. I guess their specialty is travel to Asia. If you don't see what you're looking for, you can always email them and they reply quickly.

Has anyone been in TG's new F or C class? Would like a quick run-down if they have.
-
Will definitely be a while before the plane flies again. Another pic of the plane

I've read the same thing but now can't find it! Anyways, they're planning to fly non-stop to O'Hare, JFK, and LAX when they get their new Airbus aircraft in conjunction with the new BKK airport.
-
For those living in the States, TG is reducing flights to/from LAX from the current 7 to 4. I didn't see a start date, but think it's in the neighborhood of late-March. Seems they were losing money so decided to cut back. Also, if you're on a 744 or 743 (I guess anywhere but mostly Oz and Europe), TG is going to a "premium" economy section. It's not all it pretends to be! TG is presently installing new first and business seating. Beginning 28 March, the first class section will become business (sorry, no Dom and caviar), the business will become "premium" economy, and the back of the

I read about the TG nonstops to/from the States, but can't remember where! It's not gonna help you in January 2005 as they won't be getting those planes until the summer. I'm sure it'll be in conjunction with the opening of the new airport (summer 2005).
