Lol yep, the in flight menu of Mars bars and 3 days old salads is exquisite I imagine. Don't forget the "whole world owes us a favour" attitude of the cabin crew.

The only other direct option are BA which leaves around 15:00 (BA009 I think) but that should really be a last resort, as BA are awful. Seat guru lists their 777 fleet as 3-3-3 and a 31 inch pitch though, as opposed to EVA 32 inch in econ. With the new EVA seating config, I think the options open are either Thai econ or EVA deluxe. EVA econ is going to be bloody terrible on a busy flight, 40 extra PAX and one less toilet isn't going to make the journey any easier.

Best time of year to go to Pattaya?
Butch replied to Tucker_69er's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Hi Welshbrah I had the same thoughts, always an November / April visitor until I chanced my arm one September and have never looked back since. May - October are now my preferred months. It also gives a decent spread of picking up a cheap flight from EVA or Thai as they frequently have offers during this period. The rain I can handle. However I have almost been caught out a few times, once when Soi Bukhao flooded but luckily I had left when it was ankle deep and not waist height, another time when it rained heavily the morning I was due to leave, some roads were flooded but my driver m -
Don't want to stray too far off topic, but was Concorde (the in flight experience) as good as they said it was?. I can see the A350 overtaking the dreamliner before long. I'm off to the RP in next couple of weeks on Cathay, LHR-HKG-MNL I've just seen that the CX907 from HKG to MNL is an A350 only on that service, which is a bummer because I'm out on the following which is an A330. Bugger.

Still not a terrible fare Gus, I tend to get the jitters at anything over £600, but if I can get the fare in the range of £470-£570 then I don't feel that my pants have been pulled down too much. Be interested for a review of Thai if you end up going on the A350 service.

Dioralyte and Immodium are two totally different things. One stops you shitting (the loperimide), the other replaces lost salts and rehydrates you. Have a look. Glad you're not my Doctor. You've obviously never been that sick then. I have, and when the sphincter muscle that keeps the shit in stops working for whatever reason, it gets hard to walk around, plus, there's nothing worse than not having any water to hand when you are dehydrated through vomit and shitting. Yep, I'll just throw on some slacks and ponce my way down to 7/11, grab 10 litres of water and make my way home, easy peasy w

Ooof! I'm feeling a bit low, but that has cheered me up no end. Cheers Patna.

the bottom left coconut in tghe photo looks like a smiling monkey and the one above looks a bit surprised. Must have taken you a while to draw in the bricks and i like the nice touch of the two Soi dogs. What are the two pink images next to the "tiger" seat on the right, your sig?.

The biggest blessing was that despite the cowling obviously taking the damage, had any of the fan blades (of which none seem to remain) gone into the fuselage or wankered the control surfaces of the wing it might have been a different story. GP Why won't you fly on a 777 or Dreamliner?. Both very good planes in their own right. Up until a few years ago Saha Air in Iran were still flying a 707. John Travolta has one in vintage Qantas colours (awesome plane). I never got to fly on a 707 which is a real shame for me, I'd have loved to have heard those old JT3D Turbofans doing the business

On the youtube vid there is a set of steps. They might have had them brought in from elsewhere. Either way, I'd have even money on the pax crapping themselves when it happened.

And some spare underpants.

Complete front disc failure, not a RR Engine though. Aircraft currently sat at Goose Bay military airfield. And before everyone starts going on about the old "Airbus vs boeing" debate, Engine Alliance who made the engine are an American company.

Best time of year to go to Pattaya?
Butch replied to Tucker_69er's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I was there in July and it was for me, the best time. Town was quiet and it just felt "right", always had a seat in a GGB, most of the other punters were Asian in the Walking Street area and generally the place was less crowded but still kicking. If you're a party animal who is social, then probably any time during the high season is best, as you'll soon find a wingman if you need one, but all year round there are plenty of girls. I agree with avoiding Songkran. A few years ago Songkran in Pattaya was actually fun, but recently the fun has been replaced with idiots using high pressure hose -
GP, My parents are looking for an LHR-CPT business / first class fare for Jan return April, (not via any middle east stops though, Joburg only) can you give us some pointers please?.
-
Cheers fellas. We flew to the states on a 787, for some reason I couldn't get comfortable but enjoyed the experience. I've seen a youtube video of a Frankfurt - BKK review in economy on one, and to be honest it visually looks much cleaner, sleeker and more comfortable than the 777.

Did you poach the asparagus?. I like mine slightly charred under the grill with a sprinkling of parmesan, pepper and a dash of olive oil beforehand. Worth a try.
-
Hope this is relevent but I noticed Thai are now using their A350 on the LHR-BKK route in the evening (21:35 departure), I knew they were rolling it out but thought it wasn't until Xmas. Anyone know the seating configuration and recline / pitch etc?.

Anyway, if any of the Mod team give me a warning, it'll be one less beer I buy them when the time comes!.

MLC it's been a while since I ran a forum, but thaigers had the same software as this albeit an earlier version. As I recall there was no software method of locking out or separately moderating certain sub forums, only hiding them or allowing those with specific permissions to view. It is possible in the ACP to alter mod permissions on an individual basis but it is more permissions than actual access on the forum restrictions. That said, we had moderators in the USA, UK, Europe and Thailand so all time zones were effectively covered. If you alter your personal parameters to "view all new p

Luckily I'm in the UK at the moment but we're heading out to the RP in October, so I can stock up on tealeaves, bags and decent coffee before we go. We've got a 40kg allowance with Cathay this trip so that's 120kg of crap I'll be travelling with of which probably only 5 kg will be allowed for "my" stuff.
-
Doesn't anyone use tea leaves anymore?. That seems to be a thing of the past (at work we still use a teapot, anyone caught mashing a bag in their cup gets it poured down the sink).
-
Bloody hell, livestream!! Glad you made it back ok. Looking forward to the TR mate!!

Bazle I hope you made your flight OK. Checking the google it seems that EVA67 anaged to make it out of Taipei into BKK and onto LHR sucessfully.
