  1. I've found this link on another forum: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/british-airways-executive-club-446/ Rumours are a cyber attack. Don't expect any help from BA customer service either, some people have been trying on the phone for ages and they're just not answering. ** Edit ** This is a quote from a BA employee on flyertalk. Seems that BA's treatment of their staff is coming back to haunt them. "From what I can tell, literally everything has stopped working. I am on a day off today but have been called twice to see if I can go in. Unfortunately it's a 'no' from me as I'm going up North today to make good my escape from BA. From what my colleagues said on the phone we have lost our engineering compliance system as well which is not good! Most people are unable to log in to the network at all, from home my email, the intranet etc is unavailable. We aren't sure at this stage if these have been urged off to help with the fix or if they are also broken. The IT in the office has always been flakey at best but I don't think anyone expected this!"
  2. She was also in Battlestar Galactica (new version).
  3. I think it was the change of character from sedate, love everyone cheeky chappie antiques dealer to a bar onwer calling everyone a "cunt". Brilliant casting though, one of the best things about Deadwood IMO.
  4. I pretty much grew up in Muscat and researched it's history many years ago. Very interesting place. The old Portugese forts in the bay where the Naval Base was were still in ruins, spent a lot of time exploring them. Also, opposite where the Naval Base was (it's since relocated) there is a large Jebel forming the wall for the natural inland cove, and upon it the names of visiting ships are and were painted. Nelsons Ship (HMS Victory) has a name and flag on it, although painted over since it was first done, I would imagine. Back on topic, I'm actually reading Dante's Divine Comedy. It's something I've always wanted to get around to reading and although way beyond my usual fare of books on Architecture or Military History, I'm really enjoying it.
  5. ...With some Cornish Yarg.
  6. I think they're the same as Norwegian Wings, I did a mini review and there was a continuation of the thread on it. http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/topic/66479-norwegian-wings-budget-airline-flies-europe-to-los/
  7. Probably until the next rain washes it away.
  8. Quick yarn about Ian Mcshane. He found some small fame by playing the part of a loveble rogue antiques dealer in a (locally to me) filmed TV series called "Lovejoy" back in the 90's. My dear old Mum loved him so much she would go along and watch it being filmed on location in varying areas of Suffolk and even met him and some of the cast. A few years later she noticed he was appearing in "deadwood" but didn't catch the series when it aired, however she downloaded the whole lot on her "Sky" box intending to binge watch it when it became available second time around. I seem to recall the look of shock on her face when his character made it's first appearance...
  9. Hi George and welcome to the board. We have one of your Countrymen here :) Don't worry about the arrests, it is very unlikely, in fact almost improbable that you will be in the bar at the same time of a Police raid, and in most cases, unless drugs are found the farang is allowed to go on about his business without prosecution, even if he is caught with a girl. There are ladies available everywhere, but for a first time visit I would avoid Beach Road and only barfine from Beer Bars (which do not really get raided by the Police). There are people on this board who have been going to Pattaya for 20, 30 or more years and do not concern themselves with Police raids. Also some guys live in Pattaya and don't worry about them. All the threats and media promises about "cleaning Pattaya up" are just for the media and have been rumoured for years, nothing ever has happened though. come to pattaya, enjoy your holiday and do not concern yourself with the stories you read.
  10. Hi, As a bit of an angle on the "TV" show thread, I'd ask who is your favourite film / TV Actor / Actress and why?. For me it's Gene Hackman, he's versatile and is just so strong in some of his roles, noteably in "Unforgiven" where I thought he played an equivalent lead. I also enjoyed his comedic performance in "Get Shorty" and his character in "Enemy of the State". Although I don't deliberately go out of my way to see him in a film, I tend to rest assured that anything he is in is actually going to be half decent. My favourite Actress is Helen Mirren, simply for her performance on the UK TV show "Prime Suspect". I'm pretty undecided on "TV" actors. Bernard Hill in "Boys from the Blackstuff" (UK TV series about the state of the UK in the 80's) still sticks in my mind as an epic and powerful performance, but anything he does from there on in will always be compared to it. Truthfully, there are far too many for me to pick one out.
  11. I thought Pete was on top of this kind of stuff. He's always run a tight ship where PBG was concerned. I'm sorry to hear it is going downhill because more often than not PBG is my first stop for dinner and a few beers before venturing into Walking Street. Looks like I might have to change my venue.
  12. Yep, Justified was a great series, I also like timothy Oliphant and liked his Character in Deadwood. I watched Ep 1 of Santa Clarita diet last night, it didn't really do it for me. Oliphant delivers comedy really well, but the supporting cast isn't great, and the script...well...it's about zombies so there you go. I'll stick with it for a couple of more episodes then depending how I feel I'll bin it, just lookng for fillers before GOT starts again. Sense8 seems to fit the bill though.
  13. "Better Call Saul" S03 is now on Netflix, up to and including Episode 5. Binged watched this weekend. MM thanks for the Sense8 heads up, I'm definitely giving that a look, also Sabaidii I'llcheck out Santa clarita diet, that's my kind of TV pulp fiction I need to get me through sometimes lol.
  14. Cheers Bullfrog, to be honest mate a pool table isn't a deal breaker, I rovers I agree has gone downhill with their food in recent times. I've never stepped foot in Retox and I've no idea where Retox Xtra is!. I'm really after decent food, not too much noise and somewhere friends can have a chat where we can have lunch for a few hours & then move on if needs be. Also, I might have asked this before elsewhere but what routes are the Baht buses running along Bukhao these days?. Appreciate the reply, Cheers Butch
  15. Hi Looking for suggestions as to the following: Air con beer bar in the Bukhao / LKM area, serves good food and has a pool table , open during the daytime. The Booze lounge used to be a decent venue, the only downfall was that it allowed smoking inside which is fine but when some clown lights up a Cigar it stinks the place out!. * Edit in* Helps also if the place is fairly quiet, i.e not playing that techno shit and where people can hold a conversation.
  16. Yep Thai all booked up and the prices coming in at £200+ more than the EVA equivalent. I very nearly wavered and cashed in my Avios miles to go with BA but I'd rather book myself an upgrade on a BA flight so it is half way decent than ever fly Econ with them.
  17. As an update, I spoke to EVA today and they pretty much confirmed the above, along with a rotational maintenance schedule as they have some planes in "D" Check apparently. I managed to get the dates I wanted, although it came at a price
  18. Ahh thanks for the explanation. I'm looking at dates in July, it seems that EVA have cancelled Thursday outwards flights from LHR for a large percentage of the month. Prices are a bit on the ridiculous side as well, might have to look elsewhere.
  19. Hi fellas Can anyone make head or tail of the new EVA timetable out of LHR ? They seem to have suspended or stopped flights during the months of July and August in and out of LHR for some reason. I can't seem to get a clear idea of the timetable on the website, and the old links for a .pdf download don't exist anymore. Cheers in advance Butch
  20. I flew on their VC10's in the mid 70's and L1011 Tristars in the 80's and know where you're coming from. I've not heard any particularly good reports about them recently. They've lost a chunk of business to Emirates at al, and their Oman routes have suffered as a result of Oman air developing. I wouldn't put them any better than the other ME carriers, I know a few people who fly to and from Bahrain on GF regularly and from what I've heard they're fairly mediocre.
  21. I saw the Denzel version of Magnificent 7 , nothing on the original though. It was a bit too sanitised for todays audiences (the ethnic mix within the group) but it was enjoyable, but something to watch when you've nothing else to do or if it's raining outside instead of specifically setting an evening aside to see it. If you can put aside the factual errors and sit back & relax , the film is fun to watch and entertaining. Grab the popcorn and a beer.
  22. Middle England is fine and dandy. Although chucking a bag full of piss at someone is not to be condoned, in a very childish way I kind if find it slightly amusing.
  23. Jesus Christ Firth you need to be writing a blog !. Really awesome pics and Priypat is on my list ever since I played MW3 on the Playstation. Excellent pics, I always settle in with a large mug of tea and pack of biscuits before reading and looking at your pictorials, usually saving them for the weekend as a bit of a "treat". Thanks for posting mate, they are truly appreciated and really interesting. Absolutely worthy of a damn few SM's if we ever meet.
  24. Not wanting to threadfuck, but the airlines I'd like to see flying direct alongside those that already do are KLM, Cathay and Singapore. I'd choose any of them over the current choices even if it meant paying a premium. BA have had it too good for too long. I've been watching a few youtube clips of how it used to be THE airline to work for, best pay, conditions and equipment. They charged a premium and the service was good, I once flew to Bahrain when my GF flight got cancelled back in the 80's and it was totally different to the previous GF experience. Now to be honest it's no different to any other 2 star airline operating out of LHR etc. GP, you've been in the TA game for long enough, where and when did the rot set in with BA in your opinion?.
  25. It comes as no suprise, BA have always treated economy passengers as 3rd class human beings. During the Volcanic Ash cloud we were standed in the Philippines for an extra 5 weeks (boo hoo), but BA were being useless in giving information etc, we only just made our outward flight to the RP as well, it was one of 5 that were not affected by the strike action that day. Anyway, on our return flight to the UK they managed to separate 2 adults and a 2 year old. No complaints from me on that one but Mrs Butch was upset, plus I expect the 2 pax who potentially had a screaming 2 year old sat in between them. The crew are generally the shoddiest, most apathetic and self righteous bunch of wankers ever to step aboard an aeroplane. They treat anyone not holding a biz class ticket with disdain, have an attitude of self importance and to be perfectly honest if I ever have to fly BA again, I'm going to take a dump in a sick bag and leave it in the galley area while the crew aren't looking, just out of spite.
