  1. The Social Network was the best movie I saw in 2010. I had no desire to see it, but came across an Oscar screener. I was floored by the writing, directing, and music. I'm not certain any of the performances were strong enough to warrant an award, but they're pushing hard for Jesse Eisenberg for best actor and Justin Timberlake for best supporting actor. The first is a decent pick, but the second is a Hollywood fabrication. Timberlake's performance was fun, but overrated. I'm not sure how the movie will fare. Trent Reznor probably has the best shot for music, followed by Sorkin's writing an
  2. What about people that put their socks on inside out after a ST?
  3. Best of luck! You doing anything to tweak the chicken-fried steak?
  4. Chrome has been much better than FireFox for the last two years. The FF dev team got lazy about keeping the code clean and trim. The program is way too bloated and the performance isn't as good as Chrome's.
  5. That's complete BS. There are currently two boxers that can break a million in PPV sales. I don't see how these numbers indicate anything.
  6. That's not even near the top of the list of why boxing's popularity has declined in the American market. Corrupt promoters, corrupt sanctioning bodies, the majority of fights being on premium cable/PPV, etc. have way more to do with it.
  7. Well, Margs has a fractured eye socket and is having surgery on Tuesday. Who knows when he'll be right again, if ever.
  8. The Cintron example is horrible. Margarito won both of those fights by knockout under six rounds. How does that compared to a 12-round fight where 11 of the rounds weren't competitive? The Cotto fight should have been stopped early. I agree that his attempt at cheating was horrible, but we only know that he got caught once. If he cheated in prior fights then some of the blame should be heaped on his opponents' corners (they get to see the wrapping process and should protect their fighters) and the respective state athletic commissions (they should be protecting both fighters). Rega
  9. I applaud him for taking it easy. Margarito's corner, the referee, or the Texas State Athletic Commission should have stopped it around the 10th round. It was a serious beating and there was no way Margs was going to come back. Margarito has a fractured orbital bone for his troubles. As amazing as his hand speed is, Manny's foot work is incredible. The way he's able to dart in and out so quickly while still remaining in an offensive position is remarkable.
  10. The Sheraton has three excellent pools, plenty of lounge chairs, and waiter service.
  11. I've never seen beans stored that way in Pattaya, sadly. Several places in Bangkok do it.
  12. That has never happened to me. I'm not sure which drivers you're talking about.
  13. The beans also have to be fresh -- generally used within two weeks of roasting -- and stored in an air-tight container at room temperature. I doubt the beans in the Beer Garden are treated that way.
  14. I haven't found a place in Pattaya that serves excellent espresso drinks. It's extremely hard to take care of coffee beans in humid weather and I haven't seen a place in Pattaya that stores beans properly. Your best bet is skipping straight coffee; chances are it has been sitting out too long. Get an Americano instead. Places like Starbucks, 99 degrees, and Black Canyon are your best bet. They're not great, but if you get an espresso-based drink then at least it will be somewhat fresh. Great coffee is one of the few things I miss when I'm in Pattaya. Thankfully, there are places in Bangkok
  15. In my experience, there hasn't been a really busy high season since 2005. It'll be busier than you remember, but not as bad as high season used to be. Thank the global economy.
  16. That's an amazingly poor example that has nothing to do with anything -- different board, different audience, and different topic. Like i said before, the traffic here -- a Pattaya board -- would be significantly less without P4P discussions. That's the central discussion topic. Going with your comparison, that would be like not discussing Thai visa issues on ThaiVisa.com. Really? Even the ones the post on these boards? I find that hard to believe. I also doubt you'd admit it. Anyway, this is just a waste of time. If you don't want to use her service, that's fine. Like I said, it'
  17. No, not like that at all. Try again. Christ. You know what I'm talking about. Do you patronize Pattaya bars that are owned AND OPERATED by people without work permits? No voices in my head at all. You absolutely implied that her work was illegitimate.
  18. Please. Without the P4P element of FLB, there would be barely any activity on this board. You think people come here to read Airbus vs. Boeing threads? Foreigners don't need a work permit to work in Thailand? I was unaware of that. Could you show me how that's allowed? That must be a new development.
  19. I will ask her as that's a legitimate concern. Now it's my turn to stray off topic. :) I'm still amused by Tom calling her attempt at making a living illegitimate. It's surprising for an established and well-respected BM to say something so stupid. As I mentioned before, the board revolves around P4P. He implied that it revolves around bars. I wonder if he patronizes bars that are owned by people that constantly get tourist visas and don't have proper work papers.
  20. Yeah, because most of the discussion around here revolves around operating bars. Don't be dim. You know better.
  21. It's a Toyota Yaris in good condition but probably 7 or 8 years old. I'm not sure about her insurance situation. Email is tuktuk_wannapa@hotmail.com, though I'm not sure how often she checks. Like I said, it's up to you. Though I think it's funny that you're pointing out her "illegitimacy" on a board that centers around a technically illegal activity in Thailand.
  22. Tuk, formerly of Cherry Bar, is offering taxi service between the airport and Pattaya. She charges 1,200, including tolls. It's not the cheapest price in town, but you'd be helping out a girl trying to make a life for herself post-bar...or not. It's up to you. Her number is +66899313312.
  23. Yes, they're both full of asshats. It's nice to have another reason to dislike Gerrard though.
  24. He has a winning record against his in-laws. I'm not sure what you're talking about here. Maddux's fastball was usually in the mid- to high-80s for most of his career. In his younger days, he topped out at 93.
