Oh for crying out loud. The last thing you want to do is pack heat in Pattaya.

Getting a taxi from the airport to Pattaya is no problem, even at that hour. Last month, I asked my hotel reception desk for a taxi from Pattaya to the new airport at 3:00 AM. This was scheduled for the second day the airport opened. It was 1200 baht including tolls and the car arrived on schedule at 3:00 AM. No problems at all. I recommend booking Mr. Toom for the ride to Pattaya and working with your hotel reception for a car for the return trip. Oh, and enjoy your trip!

I've used his service twice and was pleased each time. Neither time was Toom the driver but each was in contact with him by cell phone to report the status. I recommend the service. Oh, and the price was right.

I've passed the bar many times but never noted it as anything special so I never stopped (but so many bars to visit!). I'm to return in Feb and will be staying at the Flipper Lodge nearby. I'll be sure to check it out.

On a similar note, if you bring cash you should ensure the bills are in good condition. Exspecially with American greenbacks, ensure you have the new bills with the counterfeit protections and avoid bringing any that are near the end of their life cycle. The exchangers are wary of counterfeit bills and will not hesitate to refuse to accept a bill that they cannot feel confident is genuine.

I'm a newbie to this forum although I've been to Pattaya seven times (with more to come!). I hope to go to Ko Larn Island on my next trip in March. I've researched the ferry but never priced out the speed boats. How much were they for the trip, Jack? Does the boat wait at the island until you're ready to return? And how long is the trip by speed boat?
