7500 - 9000 baht monthly guesthouse?
WeezinGeezer replied to Angelo02's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
If you are in Pattaya and have the time to look then you should be able to find long term accommodations nearer the 5000 baht price range. It helps to speak Thai or have girlfriend. My TG has 32 Sq m room in Naklua in newer building. The bill this month was 5764 including power, water, cable. We don't use the aircon much. You can buy your own safe and for just a few baht have a gal come in and clean. When I first met her, she had a townhouse that only cost 8000 baht. She hardly had a stick of furniture and it was off the cheap transport route so had to give it and her two dogs up. Just walk ar -
EVA goes through Vancouver. Check their website. Sometimes have super bargins. Shortest total flight time from west coast. I haven't checked but they probably arrive same time as Seattlites at mid-day.

THE SUPER CHEAP SKATE ROAD TO PATTAYA
WeezinGeezer replied to crazyfox's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
The Bell service is convenient. Out from customs, down the ramp, go to door #7. If your timing is off, take free shuttle to bus station. As far as I know there are actually two bus routes to Pattaya from the bus station. The most obvious and well marked ends up in Jomtien. I would not recommend for a first timer. You can be let off almost anywhere along Sukumvit as long as you know where you are or can explain to the hostess, otherwise you end up in Jomtien way down the beach. The price is right, at 106 baht. I arrive on EVA a little after 1100. If I rush to immigration and don't ge -

Think I'll stay with my own long portfolio. 18+% beats your piddling 10% -
There's a second hand store on Naklua road at the corner of Soi 27. TV's, VCR, DVD, Microwaves, TV, Washers, cameras, all kinds of good stuff.

You really need to do a search for Penthouse. There has been a lot of negative comment recently. Pickup service uses "girls" from associated Kittens go-go which also has a lot of negative comment. Not recommented for first timer at this time.

$610+tax RT from LAX to BKK for a limited time on EVA
WeezinGeezer replied to Arsenal's topic in Airline Discussion
Received notice of this today from EVA. Saves some dollars but costs 10000 air miles. No good unless your an Evergreen Club member and have some miles saved. -
Grab it. My ticket for next week was $956 up $75 from March. Part of difference from last year will be the inclusion of the Thai airport tax

First, last, and security deposit seems normal to me.

Been there, done that, couple of years ago, but worked out just fine. Not too sure I'd want to stay there now. Not that the hotel has changed, just that the street has changed. It's no longer ideal for guys who like girls.

24 hour bus from BKK Airport to Pattaya???
WeezinGeezer replied to ottoparts's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Call me a cheap charlie. If there's a bus conveniently available, I'll take it. One tenth the cost leaves one LT extra. The bus is not an option if you arrive after dark. There just aren't any scheduled. It's also not an option going home for early morning flights. -
different dentist question
WeezinGeezer replied to flthyanml's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
Send an email to Dr. Aree at Pattaya International Hospital explaining your need just as you have here (maybe leave off the $30K bit). picpih@pih-inter.com They can either do the job for you or will recommend a suitable specialist. I bet it's going to require more than a two week trip to get her done. -

All maps are out of date as soon as printed. The bars open and close and change names almost too rapidly for even the most diligent cartographer to keep up. The Baht Bus map is excellent for locations but the bar names and locations are not current. There's a decent map in one of the hotel hand-outs that will get you started. The mongering area is small enough that after the first day of exploration you shouldn't need a map again.

I walked by a couple of weeks ago and thought it's location made for good possibilities. Looked clean and new from the outside.

Legally the only valid ID for a foreigner is a passport. You just have to assess risk whether to carry it all the time. You will need it to check into hotel. You will need it to cash travellers checks. You will need it if you are unlucky enough to be in a bar during a check by the BIB. You will need it if in an accident. You will need it if you happen to have to go to a hospital. You will need it to get back home. You take a risk of having it lost or stolen if you carry it or leave it unattended in your room. If you live in Thailand full time, then yes, carry the copies and lock up th

It's not just hotels where you have to be careful. I had someone enter my home last month while I was either napping or on this machine. They got my wallet and credit cards. Super quiet they didn't even alert my dog. -
$1000 ain't much for two weeks in high season. As a newbie you're not likely to find the cheapest outlets for goods so you'll be buying at the touristy places. For sure you don't want to change all of you money at once; just a bit each day as needed. A drinky here and there and even just an occasional friendly lady will eat up your available cash so take an ATM card and have some backup money available just in case. It's hell to run out of funds.

I'm trying the Queen Victoria this time on Soi 6. No pool but new in-room safes and top rate of $750 low season.

Interesting tidbit for us cheap charlies. Suvarnabhumi is now very near to completion and is officially due to start accepting commercial flights on September 28th, although the final handover (when it will take over all scheduled commercial flights from Don Muang, as well as the "BKK" airport code) will most likely be some time later. Suvarnabhumi is located some 40 km closer to Pattaya, around 60-90 minutes away by road, on Bangkok's eastern outskirts. An inter-provincial bus service directly connecting Suvarnabhumi Airport with Pattaya will be operated by the state-run Transport Co.

Single or double makes no difference except in the number of breakfast vouchers you get. The quoted rate has to be for the tiny old rooms at the back. Hardly enough space for 2 much less extras.
