  1. Etihad changed my schedule also through last minute.com on my febuary trip. There has to be some reason they keep doing this, the flight times from gatwick and heathrow are the same as they were months ago. Good flight and service from crew and short layover are the positive things. But when I make plans I dont want to have to worry about changes to my schedule and it seems to be a pattern with them. I payed 40 extra pounds this time to go with thai air and a direct flight. And this crap about 6 to 8 weeks to get your money back, when they notify you 6 weeks before the date of your flight
  2. They will need to relax the islamic law in Abu Dhabi if they expect to compete for tourism with Dubai. Public displays of affection are not allowed. I had a filipina g/f there and if youve checked in at the airport there you dont see anybody hugging or kissing goodbye. Arab man on the flight confirmed this and said in Dubai they leave you alone.
  3. I assume your flying from london 375 to 396 for etihad online, fly direct with thai air for 411 travelocity uk
  4. Yes I was on the 2100 flight The part that pissed me off is telling me it takes 4 to 6 weeks to refund my money when they can sell you a ticket in seconds over the internet. And then takeing 4 weeks to post my new tickets back to me. I bought ahead of time so I didnt have to worry but they stressed me out. Good flight though and a great trip, about 80 days till next trip I might fly thai air this time, its 30 quid more but direct flight. Or maybe a sweeter deal will come up next month,
  5. My schedule changed from flying out of gatwick on the morning of feb 7 to heathrow the evening of the 6th. And changed my return from flying out of bangkok in the evening to 7.30am. So I had to leave pattaya at 2.30am. I bought 3 months ahead of time so I dont know why they would move me to another flight.
  6. [quote name= One annoying trait they have is that they tend to change your flight schedule on a whim if you book too far in advance. Generally I would recoomend to anyone' date=' but delay booking until about 6 weeks in advance. [/quote] That happened to me, I booked 2 months in advance then I get an e-mail about the schedule change and an offer for a full refund that will take 4 to 6 weeks and my flight is in 5 weeks so I had little choice since they had my money tied up. Have me post my tickets back to them for re-issue and I get them 10 days before my flight after 3 e-mails fr
  7. I flew with etihad last month. I was sitting next to an arab man who told me that abu dhabi is the richest of the 7 emirates that make up the UAE and the sheik is more concerned in establishing the new airline than makeing money. They dont offer air miles so thats another reason its a bit cheaper. I had filet mignon steak on my return and thats a first in economy. Gave me all the drinks I wanted. Then get back to UK and on BMI to aberdeen they want 3 pounds for water
  8. Walk down beach road around where they sell all the t-shirts and youll run into the guy selling them. I payed 800bht for my rolex fake, he will start around 1800bht but just act like your gonna walk away and he will keep coming down. Probably could have got it cheaper but 3 weeks now and it still works.
  9. I stayed 9 nights last month and planned to spend 5000 to 6000 bht a day. But when you get here and party till 3 to 5am its hard to stay in a budget. I spent about a 1000 pounds during my stay but I could have done it much cheaper. I was takeing 2 go-go girls at a time and thats over 5000 with barfines before any drinks. The last 4 days I kept the same girl at 1500 a day, she was saveing me money but I was getting bored with the same girl and missed the drunken adventures of my first few days. Theres brits who live here on less than 500 pounds a month but i dont think they indulge in the night
  10. Just got back to Scotland from pattaya. I guess the neighborhood youth missed me while I was gone and decided to break both wing mirrors off my car and my rear wiper and kick a nice big dent in my door. Its got nothing to do with murders but makes me think about crime and the flaunting of wealth around pattaya with old men walking around covered in gold that would make Mr. T jealous. Suprised crimes not worse there.
  11. Met 2 Welsh guys on the plane who were spending the night in BKK and then told me they are takeing a train to pattaya in the morning for less than 40bht.
  12. I just got back from staying at siam sawasdee. My first impresion was not good as I had prepaid online and they wanted 500bht deposit for my key. Then i get to the room and the bed is not very soft, saying hard as a rock would be going to far but it affected how well i slept. The shower ended up being a unit atatched to the wall with no enclosure, just a drain in the floor with a stream of small insects marching to the sink. The staff were friendly enough and the mini-bar acounting was accurate. I got used to the room after a couple of days and was haveing so much fun it didnt really bot
  13. If your a budget baller like me you can find deals from LHR to BKK for 330 to 380 pounds. while makeing your search with last minute.com or travelocity do several searchs checking several dates around the time you want to leave I found deals in the price range quoted above.
  14. Used this service and was pleased with it. Took awhile to get through immigration but was greeted with a sign when i came out and off we went. Had several beers on the way at no extra charge and felt secure from the references on this site and being my first time to pattaya I liked that feeling. Jan showed me a few of the streets and shopping locations before dropping me off at my hotel. Really nice lady and good service especeally for newbies. I would use this service again.
  15. Etihad LHR to BKK 380 pounds w/ ticket delivery. I think its dropped lower since i got my tickets. On another board post claims 330 pounds same route. feb. flight with one hour and ten minute layover in abu dhabi, got mine from last minute.com
